  • Anyone know where I can download a software like this online or where i can buy one and what is the name of it, since it won't download onto my mac?? thanks!

  • good luck for your CW test!

  • @9m2pju I passed the CW test in February 2010 and got my new callsign, EI2KC, in March of that year. Thanks!

  • @mythicalireland ive passed my CW test and get my class A license which the prefix is 9M. everybody need to pass CW test to work on 40m, 20m, 80m here in Malaysia. Class B license only can work on 70cm, 2m and 10m.

  • @9m2pju It used to be like that in Ireland. In the old days, B licencees could only operate on VHF, but now they have access to HF as well.

  • @mythicalireland the old Ireland's days is Malaysia's present days. The authority are planning to give 40m for the class B license. but i dont know when. i just hope that class B can work on other HF bands. Malaysia is still a rare station.

  • @9m2pju I have done well with 9M2 with my small station and 100w power. I have 9M2 worked on 40m, 30m, 20m, 17m, 15m, and 12m.

  • @mythicalireland CW or SSB mode ?

  • Is there a software that allows you to enter morse code and the computer translates it into alphabets?

  • Keep up the good work Anthony.

Merry Christmas to you (in morse code, hi, hi).

  • I just retired from my job, and I'm looking for a hobby. Can you please tell me where I can pick up an PC on line training program? Thanks

  • Did anyone notice that I had LSB selected as the mode on the Kenwood? LOL. Wouldn't make that mistake now!!

  • I also like Morsecat, also free. Morse runner is a fun simulation too.

  • Very good! A good CW QSO is always fun and relaxing!

  • @WA5MUF Yes - now that I've had Morse for a number of months I'm really enjoying it. It's my favourite mode. And I've picked up a lot of DX on CW. I am now EI2KC. 73!

  • Cool,

    Looks quite difficult..

    but thanks for this :)

  • Yes indeed. I presume you know what Morse Code is? Considered by some an outdated mode of communication, it is still widely used in military, aviation, amateur radio etc. In Ireland passing a CW (Morse) test entitles you to a two-letter suffix on your callsign. Currently I am EI8GHB but that could be shortened after CW to EI8??. I am just learning Morse at the moment. In aviation, morse identifies the VORs and ILS if selected on the pedestal. But you knew that, right??!

  • @mythicalireland It's always interesting to note that those who consider CW 'outdated' have never bothered to learn it. If we were to drop all the "outmoded" methods of emission, we wouldn't be left with much.

SSB is in its 90th year, yet you don't hear many say that's outdated. Despising what you can't understand is odd, I think.

The HF bands are alive with enthusiasts of all ages working the DX with a few watts, and loving every second.

Good to hear you're enjoying the original amateur mode.

  • ...correction...SSB was patented in 1915.
