  • can you make a piano with that?

  • Especially when you use the ones from a park covered in pesticides.

  • i was making lots of these whistles when i was a child...oh,it brings back memories

  • What the hell was the point of bringing up global warming? I don't even believe in global warming. I was watching this video to see homemade instruments. Not have an al gore wannabe preach to me.

  • I remember the summer my grandpa taught me how to make one. I had probably made like 4 or 5 a day. Good times. :)

  • @chuvak1 awesome videos u just got another new subscriber =)

  • You keep your knife very sharp. That's a good thing, cheers!

  • WOW did u come up this all by ur self cuz its really cool

i like fun craft thingys like this :)

  • @shayshacool No, I think that is an ancient method passed down for generations.

  • does it work with bamboo?

  • @Dancingbaby2008 You could use bamboo, but you would have to find 2 separate pieces, one that fits indide the other.

  • -minecraft refrance- press 7 repetedly ALL HAIL NOTCH :D

  • everybody likes them except parents when kids love it..

  • r.i.p headphone user 0:06

  • this guy is a boss!

  • give it a blow

  • why is it blocked

  • yes because every kid likes to blow on sticks

  • you are really bored arent you

  • @boo41002 Says the guy aimlessly surfing the web.

  • hey i cant get the bark off mine, i used green branches like you did and those aint commin off...why?

  • @1337Leva Right now (November) is a little late to be doing this. In the spring the bark comes off easily. You should still be able to do it even now if the bark is green, but you will have to massage the bark and exert some pressure when you twist.

  • @chuvak1 i was twisting and pulling as hard as i can lol, that thing just doesnt come off

  • does not contribute to global warming? wtf?

  • @1337Leva I made this video during the height of the global warming hype - back when everything was claiming to be green. It was a joke mocking that trend.

  • @chuvak1 right...

  • just give it a blow kinda sounds gay but this video is cool subbed:)

  • Don't you mean a rape whistle? Not a willow whistle.

  • man all of your ricks are ingenious especially the one how to crack open an apple with your bare hands i made 200$ by betting

  • you got ANOTHER new subscriber.. xD

  • Subbed!

  • you just got a new subscriber :)

  • @jellybean3264 Thanks. I am sure you will be happy you did.

  • @jellybean3264 two more ! !

  • @jellybean3264 make that two!

  • ok for real i watched this vid b4 i went camping and i got lost from the group and i reconized the tree i was standiing next to and i did this and i was found :D thanks life saver

  • @wantstoScooter I am here to help. Sometimes that even means saving lives. Next time you could maybe try sending up a water rocket to show your location, or maybe you could make the world's most delicious steak and then at least you wouldn't starve. If it is dark, try my fire breathing lessons. That works every time for finding lost people.

  • @chuvak1 maby if i find a pvc pipe try ill try that and maby a bacon or steak tree ill try that next time

  • I remember my dad made me one of these when I was little. Great fun!

  • -gasp- :D

  • too late in the year now, i guess ive gotta wait for next year :D

  • fucking shit i think you just blew my eardrums out >:O

  • just grap on and twist. TWSS

  • this guy = the next kipkay

  • i live by six full grown willow trees and one relatively young and i went to them today to find a good stick to do this but i couldn't find any. so where should i look for one?

  • @PieManIsNumber1 That is surprising. It is starting to get a little late in the season, but I would think there would still be some good green branches. Just look for the newest growth at the ends of the branches.

  • My dad made these for us every spring. The rest of the summer was spend shooting potatoes with the cannon he made and seeing how far into the next neighborhood we could get them. (Once we wedged a racquet ball in, covered by fallen pecan nuts. It was like a new year's eve party with raining nuts. Best Daddy daughter activity ever!)

  • 1:16 that's what she said.

  • I'm thinking of doing this, but I know nothing about knives used for cutting wood... any recommendations?

  • @AppleTStudios A swiss army knife or other pocket knife would be great. Or just a sharp knife.

  • Now this is early spring.. Right?

  • @cousinyak This is still agreat time to make a willow whistle. Later on the bark will start getting woody - not so green and easy to slip off.

  • *gasp* WHISTLING DOESN'T CONTRIBUTE TO GLOBAL WARMING!

  • @2Pro4Uvids I was actually saying that whistling does not contribute to global warming. I am not sure about whittling.

  • what kind of wood is that i didnt understood xd

  • @Natriumascorbat Surprisingly enough, that is willow wood.

  • Victornox knives FTW

  • @iTHacking Sadly this is the last time I can remember having the knife. It seems to have gone missing. I'd had it for close to 20 years.

  • survival whistle ;)

  • You took the [McGyver crash course] eh?

  • OW EAR RAPE MY HEADPHONES WHERE ALL THE WAY UP! DX

  • @thatguyismad625 Now you know why kids love these things so much.

  • im scared to know if that his kid :o

  • slip it on and give it a blow lool

  • keep pressing 4 while playing the video :PPPP

  • QUESTION: Are you still making videos cause i subscribed for about a couple of months now, and you haven't uploaded any recent videos lately. Plus your comments are very old too so...

  • @etrinh00azn I had stopped making videos for a while but I have decided to start up again. I am just putting the final touches on a video that I think is very good. I hope to have that out this week.

  • can u make me one

  • lol i see your little girl likes the taste at 1:30 XD

  • make the front holow and put a few holes on the top :D theres a flute :p

  • I've never heard of a willow whistle.

  • 0:01 skip the add

  • Tip: Don't give it to kids!

  • especially kids! *discusted look*

  • :) me and my friends go 'spying' and we all have whistles and we use 'em to signal to each other xD

  • nice

  • made em when I was a kid When the sap is dropping you can use just about any tree

cool to see you put this on YouTube

  • global warming isn't real pal

  • @ShankAndTank But even if it were, it is not caused by willow whistles.

  • we did this in school :DD

  • what other trees could it work with

  • @radiodork

You made me lol. Soooo true.

  • wow, you r so creative! 10/10

  • Doesn't contribute to global warming?

Really? Is that your big selling point?

What can't things just be fun to do? Hell, I'd still do it even if it CAUSED global warming.

In fact, I'm gunna go cut down an entire Willow tree just to make a whistle or two. Then I'm gunna pee on it.

My urine...BTW, doesn't contribute to global warming. Fun Fact!

  • @radiodork it was a joke man.....wow, got your panties in a knot dont ya?

  • @radiodork I am surprised at the reaction that the global warming line gets. I put it in there as a joke.

  • @chuvak1 Never JOKE AGAIN! lol lmao with that sentence xD

  • that is bad ass! yer whittilin' skills are super impressive. :D

  • do you think you could make a recorder by trying to take the rest of the bark off and flattening the wood out and make little holes as well?

  • I have tried a few things to get different notes, but nothing ever really worked. Let me know if you figure something out.

  • you are the only youtube partner who actully replyies back to people. check my swiss army knife vid

  • that's one sharp multi tool knife :o

  • it can be almost any kind of tree

  • i made this when i was in 4th grade...is it a rare tree in england/america? it grows every where i live!

  • I think it is very common in the US.

  • The willow species native to N. America are more of the shrub variety. However, the weeping willow trees commonly associated with the genus are a common ornamental exotic. They are popular in cemeteries.

  • thats cool....

  • does it have to be a willow tree?

can it be any kind of tree?

  • Many species will work. Willow is very good, but not the only one. The most important thing is that the bark has to be able to slip off. It will probably be tought to find such a branch at this time of year. Late spring is the best.

  • thanks man, ur da best

are u goin to put up more vids?

if u r let me no and ill subscribe 2 u

  • where did you get that... lol.. idea....

  • My 8th grade English teacher's husband taught me on a field trip.

  • ong my headphones were on when that little girl blew the wistle and my dads ia all what the hell was that

  • lol he said give it a blow

  • u blowed my ears out

  • did you realy need the last part lol jk

  • Löp sälgpipa löp. Annars blir du avhuggen och kastad i elden.

  • I always try to add a little subtle humor. Thanks for appreciating.

  • This is awesome but, will it work with bamboo? cause oddly i have no willow trees but a lot of bamboo

  • @PowerHeal00 You could make a variation with bamboo. You would use 2 pieces, one that will fit inside the other.

  • lol@contributing to global warming

  • it doesnt necessairy needs to be a green brast isnt it? check for w for wistle on bushcraft a z

  • If its is green, the bark will be easier to remove. If you can get the bark off a brown branch, then I think that should work for you.

  • oh man i need a stick and cant find one, shitty England we get shit trees

  • yes very shitty england

    btw scotland rules!!!!!

  • Yeah, England blows. Scotland is awesome, except for the fact that they released the Lockerbie Bomber...

  • ooooooooooooow at 0:07

  • hey man. this tutorial was great. i got it on the first try. thanks a bunch.

  • lucky me. i live next door to a willow tree. ill go ninja one of their brances.

  • @mrclean225225 LOL!! My neighbors have one too...I was getting ready to sneak and look if they are on their porch or not. LOL!

  • I have only ever used willow, but I think that any species could work with nice green bark. Look for the new shoots that sping up this time of year. I have comonly had leaf nodes in the way, but I try to find a space where there is only one such node in the way. Then I make the first notch righ into the leaf node. It is important to bang on the bark with your knife like I show in the video. Then just grab as much of the area of the bark as possible and twist. The greener the better.

  • Great! Some Q's! What species do you use? I've tried so many times over the years in Britain but can never find willow/sallow that either doesn't have branch/leaf nodes in the way or whose bark will loosen and slip off as you show. I've tried ever since reading Jean George's "My Side Of The Mountain" as a child - the (US) hero of which makes swanee whistle type ones (can you do that?) -there's even a diagram in the book, but I could never make it work with British willow!.

  • Меня дедушка учил такую делать..

  • Znachit' chto takuyu delatsya takzhe v Rossii. Menya muzh uchitelnitsi uchil - no on tozhe byl dedushkom - tolko ne moi.

  • thats really cool. i'm extremely shocked that you don't have at least 50,000 subscribers..... you really deserve them. i am going to try to tell people about your videos and get people to subscribe and stuff.

  • Cool. I'm glad you like my material. Thanks.

  • awesome
