from the samples ive seen 7d for video/ not sure about IQ d3x for best IQ under ? 20k a900 for best IQ under 7k d3 for all around camera 1 body everthing crop frame/ ? not sure about 7d have not used one although i can say the d300 smokes the 50d in comfort/speed/IQ maybe canon will have something with this one i feel canon colors kinda bla with there crop's there FF is superb just not d3x or d900 great,,,,, but for low light 5d mk2 is better than d3x and a900-IQ wise

How do you know that when you've never tried it? BTW the Nikon D300 isn't even comparable with the Canon 50D. The Nikon D300 is comparable with the Canon 7D. Duh the D300 smokes the 50D!!! It's also $1000 dollars cheaper!

Well if you wanted great video, you could've saved yourself a lot of money and just bought an HD camcorder. If you think your mark 2 outperforms the Nikon equivalent in regards to it's photographic capabilities, then you're simply misinformed.

That a camera in 2009, can be more than a traditional camera and not an end in itself. The same as a modern mobile phone is more than just a phone.

You're right in that video mode in cameras has progressed over the years. But even in the best cameras, video mode still isn't that great. And to make a $2000 decision on a camera based on the novelty of video mode is just plain dumb.

How is a novelty? More a feature, honestly. The picture is better than an HVX. I see incredible footage shot with this camera. I don't care if it's a photo camera or any arguement, it puts out better video than most HVX footage I see, without a 35mm adapter.
