Maybe he wants to be looked upon as someone who can fix everything.A type of superhero for the masses.Hopefully he will get too tired for all of the masquerade very soon.
' the only thing we have to fear is not being afraid enough ' this guy gets off some good lines i do think the pres should hold a reg schd weekly 60min press q&a and be able to describe candidly and clearly (if not cleverly ala jfk) wtf is going on bush ii obv couldnt pull that one off bho obv can (tho for me the guy has a 'im too cool for the room' smarm i just cant get past (my prob) just mi dos centavos thnx for the 'tube
Perhaps the issue shouldn't be if the President is visible, but what IS his job, vocal or otherwise. Certainly he should explain his own views, but the job of passing laws is rightfully with Congress. The President can then exercise the veto or the signature. The current use of the "bully pulpit" is now just bullying. Even some of his own party are protesting his plans to shift Constitutional powers away from Congress.
Gene Healy pulled quite an impressive debate raising some mighty interesting concerns and pointing to worrisome trends... but the star of this dual was the newscaster, her cool composure and pleasant demeanor compounded by her logical and shrewd questions had Healy towards the end panting in a corner not knowing what hit him.
yep it looks like I've been slugged into a pulp, no one is arguing Gene Healy is right on the mark. Anyone with a shred of conscience agrees presidents are not mean to be showcased as the new American Idol, in fact it is hair-raising to see the masses brainwashed in that fashion in order to manufacture their consent to self destructive policies.
But I thought the newscaster was eloquent and I got crucified for thinking out loud....lol.. and yes Cato rules, that's why I'm here.
I don't believe in crucifying anyone, here. And I agree that her questions were relevant if expected. For a local news channel her insights were certainly far better than expected. No hard feelings, Erbstank.. it was just your 'panting in a corner' comment was a bit over the top. :)
kind of reminds me a bit of chavez with his weekly radio/tv broadcast

Ho Ho. Every time I see him on tv I say: "Is he still talking? He's worse than that other Leo Bill Clinton!"

"National Talkshow host with Nuclear Weapons"....brilliant
...and Obama does not know how to "Render a Salute" (somebody should pull him aside.....that's sort of important for the host with the button).

Exactly right. Now we have a president who at least 1/4th of the country worships and treats as some kind of lord and savior! This is madness!

Panting in a corner? LOL. I don't think so... her questions were softball pitches to a Cato slugger.
