The story is that...we can say Rin and Len are husband and wife (or really close). Len goes to war, gets injured, and when Rin goes to see him at the hospital and he doesn't recognize her ('cause he photo is torn at Rin's face); he had lost his memory. After some time Rin becomes sick and eventually dies; at the funeral Len doesn't get why he is crying because he still doesn't remember her. After some searching, he finds the exact same photo as the torn one, and remembers Rin.
