@GodZco are you serious? you understand that ricky writes and directs both version, both the original and the US version. i actually like the american version, however it is not even close to the original. ricky has had to dumb down the style in order for it to appeal to the americans and lets be honest for them to be able to understand it. an american audience does not understand the subtle humour and whit that is used in the original, not your fault of course, america is behind the rest of us.

BBC, realizing they had a massive hit on their hands, asked for more. ricky gervais and stephen merchant insisted that the story was finished, and declared more would be redundant (which showed their integrity towards their craft, in spite of potential revenues...). the show was initially aired on BBC 2.
