You can if you have the outside contained... ferrets will get out of anything if their head fits thru it. You can put a harness on them to walk them, but ALWAYS make sure the "outside" area is ferret-proofed. Just as the house/room you let him play in should be ferret-proofed as well.

yes- just make sure they are wearing a ferret harness or can't get away from you. be wary of dogs and bigger animals, so they don't get your ferret.

it's a blackfooted ferret - they are very distant to our precious ferrets, and a lot more feral. They remain so slender for survival purposes. Don't worry, I'm sure your guy isn't over-weight.

I wouldn't worry. Black footed ferrets are very slender and muscular by nature. Besides that they do not have undercoats and gaurd hairs like domestic ferrets which makes them appear more chubbers! Also especially in the winter they pack on more weight because of the cold, my petite female literally doubles her weight in the winter. Totally normal and nothing to worry about :)

in a fight to the death, the ferret would win, no doubt. but i gotta say, a prarie dog would put up a fight. i am not assuming this. i know it because i had ferrets and prarie dogs. they had to be kept separate, but one time a ferret "weaseled" his way into the prarie dog's room and they bucked for a couple seconds, and that prarie dog did something with his head and front paws and flung that ferret a couple feet across the floor! so they aren't helpless, but they would go down in the end.

Actually many BFF's are injured when they attack their prey. The BFF hunts at night in order to use the element of surprise when it kills it's prey, it goes after the Prairie Dog while it's sleeping.
