I remember the day the Final Cut came out. I bought it as it hit the shelf . A Masterpiece imo his best work, after all, It was if that was side 5 and 6 of the Wall. I was also very pleased when he added- When The Tigers Broke Free
Je suis très heureux d'avoir eu le privilège de voir ce vidéo! Je suis sûr que vous ne pouvez ressentir cette émotion que très rarement. Merci Roger Water!
By the way, I know a retired Major who fought in the Falklands. He said, as I'm sure many serving soldiers would say, even if a child jumps out with an AK-47, he would shoot them. That's where we are. I am a teacher...there is something SO wrong.
@Transimmunol id shoot a child if he was going to shoot me, tbh you cant care about everyone, there going to be someone somewhere who you are going to hurt in life, knowingly or unknowingly, thats life, were humans what would you expect, we not special were just a little less like animals than monkeys,
If Roger Waters could write about current events, it would be about pretty much the same old same old....re-emergence of violence in N. Ireland; then Palastine, Afganistan/Iraq, Iran and Nuclear Weapons, North Korea......Just a few too many who are willing to sacrifice others. Never themselves or their families.
You have to be old enough, or aware of recent (last 40 years), political history and news to understand this. I'm 50 soon and I remember. Unfortunately, history is repeating itself again and again and again..........ad nauseum.....as it has for far too long.
i really love the final cut's theme ''maggie what have we done'' which runs through almost all the songs... one of my fave albums, even if it didnt hit it big
Nobody can write good music like this anymore... even if it is supposed to mean something having to do with life it stil sucks... Music fuckinhg sucks unless you lives in the 60's and 70's
Sobran teclados en Pigs on the wing... pero bueno, es escrita y compuesta sólo por Waters aunque sea de PF... así que puede tocarla como le dé la gana.
I caught the ' In the flesh' tour, simply amazing, up there with trips to pittodrie to do the sheep!! lol, only kidding mate, fingers crossed for another tour......
Roger Waters is untouchable. He will never be equaled. If you ever get a chance to see him, do it, no matter what a scalper will rape you for. Experience this entity before he's gone.
yup.....i missed out seeing him touring "in the flesh" and am just praying another opportunity comes along.....i'm sure it will. Saw daves on an island tour - it was mesmerising, as was the division bell tour (unbelievable show & performance). Saw them do the wall in 1981, but will always feel i'm missing something until i see roger on tour - most particularly because the final cut deserves to be heard loudly and proudly live.....it is a wonderful album
Didn't Roger Waters sing that entire Cd originally? The Final Cut is one of my favorite cds although I'm more partial to David Gilmour's voice over Rogers. I like them both but Gilmour is awesome.
Why aren't him and Gilmour speaking anymore or are they? I always see them doing different things that doesn't involve each other. They make an awesome band when they are together. I love this album and I love Pink Floyd in general.
I don't see why they wouldn't be speaking? or at least friends. Dave and Roger just wanted to do different things musically. Ego's and band rights also got tangled into it.
A beautiful song about the unnecessary sinking of the Argentine ship the General Belgrano during the Falkland Islands War, and the needless deaths of hundreds of Argentine sailors on board.
i love southampton dock. The lyrics are so great! Pink floyd is not the same without roger. Still he was to big an ego for the group. My idol as a musician before everyone else truly is roger waters. I just freaking love the man!
Could be better. I'd rather hear more Roger and less bimbo backup singers. Isn't there a baseball game somewhere for them to go butcher to the national anthem??
This kicks the originals ass in every single way. The Final Cut is Roger's peak as a vocalist and he manages to improve on a performence from that album 20 years later. Amazing.
as a pink floyd album this fails but that is because it is not a floyd. it is roger playing with dave and nick and putting under floyd. as a solo this is a great album. it should not be compared to floyd cause floyd is a whole different subject. like comparing the beauty of a mountain to the beauty of the ocean. enjoy it as what it is. a great solo from roger with inputs from his old friends. how much better would this have been if rick was included...
You my friend are an idot! Roger has done so much better than than his older friends. It's the other way around Pink Floyd does ok beacuse of Roger's input. This version is so much better the the orginal that it is painful. He puts more emotion into it because he is a true artist..... What new material has Pink Floyd put out that compares to what Roger has done??????

I don't consider this to be the same thing as an "album", but rather a recording of a live performance. There is a huge difference. I own it (Roger Waters Live In The Flesh) on both CD and DVD, and believe it is a beautiful rendering of music I grew up listening to. The sound of the band Roger put together for this tour was first rate in my opinion.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
i didnt know there was a best song off of the final cut... i dont think there is... i didnt care for it... maybe im closed minded because pink floyd is by far my favorite band of all time and always will be and the final cut being the basically downfall album by them just hurts... knowing that was the last album and last time they would play together... plus the wall they should have ended on... roger waters is just an egomaniac... genius but a control freak
yeah, its just that the floyd were so faceless that people only recognise their overall class without the individuals behind it. In a way i guess its a good thing because it inspired 'the wall' in ways.
yeah true... i wish more people understood him now... alot do but not enough... everyone on this earth at one point i believe should try pink floyd at least a little bit... and not just the typical radio hit songs... i mean like dogs us and them shine on you crazy diamond pigs one of these days just to get the feel of pink floyd all around
yeah he wrote most of the stuff that makes them what they are.. gilmour was a very good contributor and the divsion bell is pretty great so is the delicate sound of thunder.. but doesnt compare to animals, or wish you were here,
Roger has given his best of Vocal abilities for this album,The Final Cut,even The Wall pales in comparison...its such a moving performance and an album that always brings tears to my eyes and gives me goosebumps...simply put,Roger Waters remains loyal to his point of view and will never succumb to market forces. He once said if only 1 person was able to understand the purpose of my PACOHH album, then I'm satisfied becos I've accomplished my goal.
About his personality, I don't really know. And actually I don't give a shit. If he can churn out stuff like this I wouldn't care if he was the biggest asshole in the world. S Dock gives me the goosebumps everytime, it's great! Final Cut is an amazing album with superb imagery. Thanks for the post.
I saw this whole DVD. His later solo stuff wasn't that great. Just my humbe opinion. Too bad he was an asshole and PF disbanded. They did make some incredible timeless music though. Since they have such an extensive catalog The Wall,Wish you were Here and DTSOM would be nice to hear in Surround sound.
