  • Thats awesome!!! I thought a relay was needed! Thanks for saving me the $10!

  • Great help! Props for driving a MK4 as well. Ill be installing the same deck in a MK4 Jetta in about an hour.

  • Did this to my jvc avx740 and it worked great, thanks bro!

  • Hey I did the same to my radio but after playing for a while a screen saver advertising the blue thooth in tradio came up as soon you touch the screen it goes away and come back again afgter few seconds , what should I do to rid of that

  • @alexg69us look in the menu in the stereo and turn off the demo mode and the advertising should come off

  • cool video some people in th world are just smart asses

  • In any case, once you locate the far end of the e-brake interface install the head unit so you can't lose anymore itty-bitty screws. Well done.

  • Awesome video, and thanks for the help. You should check out seller radonich1 on eBay or my videos for parking brake bypasses that work with all newer Pioneer, JVC, Sony, Clarion, and Eclipse radios.

  • What kind of golf do you have? I am getting the 840 model, and just hoping it fits nicely in mine....i have an '05 Golf TDI. I am not getting the metal frame that you have, i am just going to stick it in the stock housing, and bolt it in that way. Hope it works. I am just hooking mine up to the JVC harness, which goes to my amp, as well as power, and that was all i was going to hook up cables wise...if I dont hook up the parking brake and any other cables, will it disable the unit?

  • I initially thought this would work but found that once I drove for about 2 minutes my Pioneer deck detect the ground wasn't through the parking brake and it shut off the video. Most systems require you to ground your parking brake. FYI.

  • Nice! Much easier to do than my old AVIC-D3. Glad I found this vid before I installed my 830

  • I see this guy installs his radios to be pulled out huh? I install mine to be kept in!

  • thnaks m8!!! somebody changed my fuckin light green cable to brown....

  • thanks straight to the point

  • I purchased mine from Crutchfield and installed it myself........i had to get an extra wire harness and car adaptor. While connecting all the wires i was able to connect the parking break cable at the tip and it worked successfully!!!!! Thanks so much for you expertise. I will be uploading my video soon........

  • Sorry... stoner here.. but in laments terms all u did was Connect the parking brake wire(green one in ur case) to the ground cable from the same radio and connect it right?

  • @baalyezidi Pretty much, yeah! It's a lot simpler than it thought it would have been when I originally made this video, but that's all there is to it.

  • @Steelfrogmedia excellent explanation video!

  • Now I get it :) Thanks!

  • will this work for the KW-AVX720?

  • @javs56 It should work on most after-market units. From what I could find, only a single manufacturer does things differently on some specific models. I wasn't able to source which ones exactly.

  • @javs56 this will work on any dvd radio........and I didnt tell you that, lol

  • Happy driving .. dont crash!! lmo

  • awesome thank you so much for the info. i have been fooling with this for hours.

  • I drive a 2008 Cadillac Escalade and want to be able to watch DVD's on the Nav system while driving. Would you happen to know how to rig it so that when I shift the car into drive it doesn't effect the movie playing? thanks

  • do u think it'll work on a daul xdvdn9131? or is it all the same?

  • Excellent Video. No toggle needed!

    Thanks

  • I'm curious if anyone tried this on the new AVX-830?

  • worked for my jvc avx2 just fine, thanks..

  • you are a loser

  • what a dumbass u could of cleared up this in 10 sec.. just hook the parkin brake wire to the ground..

  • @badkrama4ya Thank you for your insightful and inspiring comment. I'm sure we all appreciate your vast level of expertise and thank you for offering this excellent, well-composed comment.

  • @Steelfrogmedia haha

  • Does this work for all radios?

  • Great video!

I wonder if this will work for the optically identical KW-NX7000!

  • Is this in a gti? If so it will make me very happy because i want to buy a double-din for my car but the website says that it won't fit, but I'm sure that they make the spacer to go around the head unit.

  • can i do the exact same thing that you (who uploaded the clip) did in your car in my car?? i have a '05 pontiac grand prix

  • Thanks man. Any issues with it so far?

  • None at all, except when I leave the unit in the car during cold nights. Until it warms up, it tends to turn off the screen when I hit a small bump. I'm assuming this is to prevent damage or because the clip doesn't recoil properly. All in all, no problems to report.

  • on a cold day??!?!!? ahhh shit guess l'm screwed our cold days are -45 C

  • @BruceCountyFinest - Not necessarily. We've had temperatures around that range and the unit still performs fine once the car heats up.

  • @steel. How did you strip the ground wire like that? What tool was used?

  • I just used a pocket knife and care.

  • @videozal. so all I do is pull out the parking brake wire (in this case green wire) and the ground wire (in this case black wire) from the white plug that goes into the back of head unit, connect them using a wire connector?

  • thanks for the info champ. i install my avx826 this week.

  • THANX FOR THE INFO !

  • does this unit have a slot for a SD card?

if so, where is it and how does it work?

  • Yes, the unit does have an SD card slot. It's located behind the screen.

  • i found an easier way..... when installing mine, i didnt wire in the clip on handbrake wire!

    whats so difficult? :p

  • WORKS PERFECTLY WELL!!!

    THANKS MAN!!!

    BUT REMEMBER EVERYONE:

    1. Don't drink & drive

    2. Be polite to other ppl

    3. Don't watch DVDs and drive...

no matter how well experienced you are, it still takes your attention from the road...

I personaly bypassed it so that I don't have to put a car on a handbrake, monitor is always OFF while driving...

  • thanks man, this worked perfectly.

  • did u do this on a 820 by any chance?

  • josen - I did it on the 810. I dont see why it wouldnt work on the 820 though... good luck

  • installed it this passed weekend and it worked.

  • will this work on the kw-avx820?

  • I got my dvd player installed at best buy. If you cut the wires, it voids the warrenty on your dvd player. To not void the warrenty....ground your parking break.

  • you don't have to cut anything!

just connect the green wire NOT to handbrake BUT to ground and that's it... :)

    no cuts are needed :)

  • how do we do that without cutting? thanks

  • with this device they included a wire connector so that you don't have to cut any wire. just connect THE END of the green wire to this connector and to the black ground wire from your car and that's it you don't have to cut any wire of this device... basically you ground the green wire so the device "thinks" that brake is always ON

  • i have the sony XAV-W1 and it wont let me watch dvds at all. does anyone have any idea on how to make this work and bypass the parking brake?? is it the same to wires as shown on hear??

  • Nice. Thanks!

  • So basically all I need to do is cut the parking brake cablee and then connect it to the ground wire or another kind of grounded metal right???????

  • On most units, you can put it to ground wire. THOUGH on some units, sometimes its better to have a ground wire going both to your head unit AND a switch, with your parking brake wire to the other end of the unit. Turn on the switch when in use, and off when not. Just in case of any crazy electrical malfunctions.

  • I see you haven't posted your review yet. How do you like the unit? I'm also considering the Pioneer 4100DVD, but I've heard complaints about how it only has a 24 hour clock and slow USB loading time. How is the load time on this via USB and/or SD card? I have no iPod so that's not an option. The Pioneer has custom backgrounds and colors though, and this doesn't...

  • I was researching the 4100dvd as well, ignore amazon reviews, half those ppl are freaking clueless, all the car forums Ive read talking about that unit say that the clock is normal. I ended up getting Clarion MAX685BT, its freaking sick, the colors arent as custom as the Pioneer but the Ipod interface is superior as well as the overal quality of the entire intreface. I got a factory re-furbished so it was the same price as the 4100... the 4100 is still a nice unit though

  • i have the same deck and would this work in a 05 grand prix??

  • all u have to do is ground the wire i have had 3 or 4 tv radios an they are all the same sometimes the wire is a different color

  • new units require a switch, some people have a manuel one but you can get a switch that does it automatically, just need to wire the remote to it as well so every time you turn on your car the switch goes on and off

  • Just got my AVX820 with back up cam. I can't believe how easy that was! Thanks a bunch man.

  • yo this is one of these screems right where you can watch a movie in a car i was just saying due to some cars have that kind stuff in them but due to good video i gived 5 STARS to it

  • i jus hooked mine up to wut the deck was grounded to

  • is it possible to play movies from a sd card???does this device read 8gb dvd^s?

    thanks

  • I've yet to try and play movies off of SD cards but I don't think it's possible. I bought a 16gb SD and stuck all my music on it and use a USB stick for movies. As far as the 8gb DVDs are concerned, I can't comment as I've yet not tried those either.

  • thanks for your reply...so its possible to play divx movies from a usb stick??but may not from a sd card...right?

    thanks

    btw:nice review:) you got 5:)

  • Yes, you can play DIVX and XVID movies off a USB stick, or burn them to a CD/DVD-R. It's not a very picky unit in terms of codec versions, either. It's played almost every DIVX file I've thrown at it, although it can get a little choppy at times due to my slower USB stick.

  • hey:) cool...i gues i get one too:-))) last question(sorry :-) ,is it possible to save some own background picture?

    Any bug discovered?

this is what i have found on the official jvs site:

    • AAC*3/WAV/MP3/WMA compatible (DVD/CD/USB)

    • DivX®/JPEG/MPEG1,2 compatible(DVD/CD/USB) divx files should be slower than 2mbps

  • Unfortunately, one of the biggest caveats of this unit is that you can't set your own backgrounds. There are a few preset ones available in about a dozen colors each, though only one of them in my opinion looks okay. I've yet to run into any bugs.

  • Hey, i have one too! Is the Jvc tv tuner any good? I want to buy one for my avx810 bu i haven't seen any videos or any reviews if the reception is good..

  • I'm not sure which tuner you're referring to.

  • I am referring to the Jvc KV DT2000 tuner which is digital or the JVC: KV-C1001

  • Nice. Explained very well, Thanks!

  • I agree with poptrunkonu all you have to do is ground out the brake wire to disable the brake wire function.

  • lol dude you have the same set upo as i do, not only the 810 but also the volkswagen, they fit so clean!

  • Comment removed

  • does anyone know if it works on a dual xdvd8183

  • ok this is for anybody who has a indash screen all you have to do is hook up the brake bypass wire to the black ground wire and it will be bypassed all the time dont have to worry about a switch or a code i know all about screen i have been installing for 4 years

  • Some units do require a switch, but I'll agree with you that they're pretty uncommon. I know Pioneer has a couple of units that do.

  • does this work for the AVX 720 also?

  • Does anybody know if this would work for the Pioneer AVH-P3100DVD?

  • Yes! Thanks man. Works with Pioneer 700bt too. I had everything hooked up except the parking brake wire and because of that some features on my unit were not available (bluetooth, system settings). Then I had no idea how to hook up to the parking brake but Connecting the brake wire to the ground wire makes everything work. My Pioneer 700bt does have a dvd player so bypassing the parking brake is only to make bluetooth and other options available. Anyways, thanks man. Saved me a lot of headaches.

  • i notice you have a gti golf or jetta, what head unit connectors did you use?? i found only one kit and i dont know how good it is....

  • hey i tried doing this but still a warnig light come on i tried connecting it to the ground in the unit but still the same i gess its cuz i have a dual indash well nice vid really helpfull

  • hi guys - i have some kind a trouble - ive looped the parking brake wire to ground wire but sometimes i can watch video and sometimes it still throws me a parking break message on a screen and no video preview available , just playing audio of the movie or video clip.... What it could be??

  • Make sure the ground you have the parking brake wire on is clean, bare-metal, not corroded. Try cleaning the ground connection up. If the wire and ground is making a good connection, then it would have to be something with the unit. Unless, it kinda sounds like you have the parking brake wire tied into the head unit ground wire, not entirely sure what you mean by "looped" :P could be getting a little feedback from the headunit ground, on the parkingbrake wire if that's the case! Goodluck

  • heheh i think u're right - i tied green brake wire into that black wire going from the head unit.... but in ur video it looks like u did the same.. or im wrong?? will try to loop on other ground wire next week then. btw now after turning on the unit, it doesnt shows video but after few minutes working it disapears and starts showing video. so i think there are some problem with the ground...

  • Oh it's not my video! Props to the guy who made it though! :P I just put one of those in my friends Tahoe, I'm fixing to buy one myself, I really like this unit. I took that green wire and gave it it's own ground on the body. Does the unit shut off completely when it "disappears"? It so, then you know it's gotta either be your power or ground! hit me back up if you get it figured out!

  • i meant - "Parking Break" message disappears from the display and unit starts work normally after few minutes of working. ok i will let u know

  • that shit works thanks man your the best

  • can u do me a favor a just give me the width and height of it to see if it fits on my 1999 buick regal, cause i want to get one of these really bad. thank you, and nice video

  • Hey i just did it. I just hooked it up to the stereos ground wire and the videos began to play. thanks again bro.

  • ahh maan i love this video thank you so much I'm gonna go outside and do it to my xovision xo1945 right now. It might not work but i'm going to try. Thank u so very much.

  • hey so having a mkIV you need to do this so it will play with out the hand brake right??

can you change the coloe of the buttons to red??

  • Regardless of the make of your case, most players like these will need to be bypassed if you want to play videos without activating the handbrake.

Unfortunately, the buttons remain blue and can't be changed. They fade out after a few seconds of inactivity until you either touch the screen or activate the motion sensor and bring your hand close to the screen.

  • Hi, do u know if this bypass will work with a kw-avx710? it has the same harness that comes with the avx810 and the same green/white wire that leads into the parking brake. Since I haven't installed the radio yet, can I just splice the parking brake wire into the ground wire without having to hook up the parking brake wire to the fuse? Thanks

  • Yes, same harness, same procedure.

  • i got this unit and a pioneer p5000 i just ran i video bypass switch on the pioneer

  • Or.... you could just use a "scotch" connection that you can buy from most auto-spares outlets and do it properly. Much neater/safer and only takes 5 mins (Twisted wires are not a proper connection)

  • I did tape up the wires appropriately after the video. I simply didn't here because I wasn't sure if it was going to work at first.

  • I hate to disagree, but I'll never use scotch connectors ever again on any electrical work. The wires need to be soldered together, that's actually the proper way to connect two wires! I like this unit though! :)

  • I agree with you mate but not everyone has got an iron or can solder however anyone can use a scotch lock and after all it is much better/safer than twisting wires together.

  • word, I know everyone doesn't have access to soldering equip, I guess I should have said that if you can get it soldered, do that. The only problem I have with scotch connectors is that they cut through the wire and they can cause problems with the "power flow". when I first bought my car and put in an aftermarket headunit, I used scotch connectors and had a nightmare with problems with speakers not working and power issues.Darn scotch! I agree though, I don't like to twist wires! :P peace out

  • hi, got back to say - ive removed the unit, removed scotch and soldered same wires with iron and the problem disappeared! Now all working fine!

  • Great choice! Soldering is the way to go! Wont have any lose connections or problems with that! :) I have yet to buy my unit, car just blew a head gasket so it's in the garage torn into pieces... Maybe in a week or so I'll buy it!

  • would it work on a pioneer like that

  • It might - it varies from one manufacturer to model. In most cases, this is all it takes.

  • Thanks a bunch man. I just purchased this unit and was hoping to find a solution to that problem. Now I know and hope it will work for me too.

  • thx man now i got video on the road lol

  • U clever mofo, I'll b using this method when in stalling mine!! But did u have any problems with like the wire gauges or any sensores after installation?

  • Nope - nothing at all. You don't have to add any existing wires, and all you're doing is feeding a ground loop cable unto an existing ground, so gauge doesn't really matter since no power circulates through it.

  • Thanks bro!

I have the Kenwood KVT-617 & this technique worked as well. We found the correct cable and grounded it & it worked like a charm!

  • i have only USB Post in this device coming out from back. can anyone help me To install IPOD VIDEO on That??

  • is that a mk4 golf??if so,how did u manage to get that headunit installed?

  • Yes, it's an MKIV. However, it's a City model. It comes with a dual-DIN slot from the factory. I'm not sure if previous MKIVs had it.

  • The NX7000 appears to be simular, but also has NAV.. This "mod" (that is ILLEGAL in most states btw) should let you input destination info on the NX7000...

This will accept a 120gb HDD?? I can only get the NX7000 to read 16gb, but use 250gb HDD

  • Yes, I use a 2.5in USB 120gig drive and it works perfectly.

  • hey, this is a great unit. I will be getting mine soon but I have a question. Does this unit have a AUX audio input so I can connect say my ipod from its audio out or a laptop?

  • yea it does

  • hey is this the system with the gps on it?

  • There's not GPS bundled with the unit, unfortunately, nor is there an addon. I have a stand-alone GPS so I didn't mind, but it would have been nice.

  • Great video mate just wanted your opinion on the unit in general. Ive been looking at Double DIN units for a while but this one is quite low cost and the frront is removable just wondering if youve had any problems and if you think its worth the money?

    Cheers

  • You are GOD! :-D Great video!

My JVC KW-NX7000 looks exactly the same!

I hope someone could find a way to being able to enter a destination address while the car is in motion.

    Thanks for the video!! :)

  • hi,

i have one of these units waiting to be installed in my car.

can you please tell me if you have navigation selected as the av input type, can u display the navigation, while listening to another source ?

i hope so, as i don't want to be left with only the voice of the navigation unit when i have the nav turned on....

  • I'm not sure if you can grab audio from another source since I don't have an external source plugged in, and am using a stand-alone GPS. Sorry, wish I could answer your question.

  • turns out that you can. i did a quick bench test lastnight. with the AV input type selected as navigation, you can listen to the radio or a cd (or even usb) and display the video from the navigation unit. while moving too (without bypassing the hand brake)

once i get this unit installed, i will post a video of the complete setup.

it probably will not be installed before Christmas though, as i just don't have the time right now....

  • Awesome. I'll have to try that out. Thanks for the update!

  • the trick is, to have the av in type set up as "navigation" and then the second trick is not to select AV as the source. you select the video by pressing "Disp" on the front of the unit. then you can have video (and audio) while on the move.

but if you have a cd or radio playing, you will hear that too. so select a source that's not playing(if that makes sense)

  • hey mate, great video, im looking at getting 1 of thes units, i got a golf mk4 and the dash is angled more towards the driver (the radio) so i was wondering whether you can angle this left and right aswell as up and down, more central then, plus out of the view of the driver?

    thanks dan

  • The unit is installed in a 2008 City Golf, which is basically an MKIV Golf, including the angled dash.

The unit cannot be tilted left or right, but it does tilt quite a bit up or down. The view angle is pretty good so the passenger can see the screen without much color distortion but you unfortunately cannot angle the screen towards them.

  • Is the receiver still working fine with no problems? Have you attached a hdd? How big of a portable hard drive will it accept?

  • Yes, the unit still works flawlessly. I've attached a 120gb portable 2.5in hard drive to it and it works pretty well. Some movies skip and need to be re-encoded with a lower bitrate to play properly.

  • AAA+++

  • thanks for the video man, i was waiting for it, i finished installing my unit today and i love it!!!!

  • man thanks for posting this video it worked like a charm

  • Great. I'm glad it helped.
