Ruben wasn't better at all he won because they hadn't fixed the phone issue. When clay out sold Ruben by millions and people started asking how Ruben won they were forced to admit that technicallyhe didn't. It pissed me off.

I remember after hearing Clay sing this being at the store with my then five yr old son and him hearing the Bee Gees version on the music being piped into the store. He looked at me and goes "Who's that trying to sing Clay's song? They sound terrible!" Clay DID do a phenomenal job with this one. I too wish he would have recorded it!

To paraphrase what Simon said, he told Clay this was the third "Pop Idol" show he had judged if you include the British version, and it was the best performance he has seen so far. Very high praise coming from Simon, and Clay was so thrilled he closed his eyes to savor the moment. Very sweet and exciting.

Well, he got 3 or 4 standing O's from judges, but Simon knocked him for Vincent, too -- which imo is just beautiful. But oh, this To Love Somebody still gives me goosebumps, WOW! He sang this shortened version in concert (AI2 tour) but never recorded it; he has full Don't Let Sun Go Down On Me on his pre-AI demo alb, but haven't found To Love Somebody anywhere but on show. Love this one. Thankz for posting it! What did the judges say? Did they liked it? The other song he sang on this night was "Grease"(if I'm not mistaking) and they didn't quite liked it except the moves. And Simon said," It was horibble." So how did this one come out? Thankz! Wooowhooo!!! ;P
