@2:00 Now that is what a bike should sound like!!....GREAT work!
im wondering if its possible to get a custom exhaust made for a ZX14 to make it sound like this?? Ive always not liked the sound of these aftermarket exhausts for the sportbikes/sport tourers etc..
Lovely bike .... seeing those Powerflow exhausts takes me back to 1979 when I added a set of Powerflows to my GL1000 .... in Durban , South Africa .... they were a small outfit back then and as I recall I think the guy was Mike Wallace .... I watched him make them .... how times have changed for them , nowadays they're an international company . And my GL1000 , i've still got it , and the Powerflow exhausts .... excellent product that's lasted 31 years .
Had one new. Used to powerslide it in the rain like a dirtbike! Big top heavy screaming bitch it was! Burnt a clutch practicing launching it!.. 240 rear looks so good. Awesome job bringing this legendary bike into 2010! so sweet with the pipes.
You have REALLY done justice to this engineering marvel. I feel these bikes are really under appreciated. Big pat on the back for you all.
Personally the flames and chrome aren't quite to my taste, however I have to admire all the work you put into this, you have a beautiful bike, and as long as you've modified it to where you're happy with it, then that's all that really matters! The inverted forks are an awesome touch, and that exhaust sounds freaking amazing! My dad had a CBX that he sold to a friend years ago who still has it. Hasn't run in 10 years and cleaning the 6 carbs has put me off buying it back, but maybe some day!!
Thank you for the kind words, the owner is very happy with it. Don't let a CBX with a verifiable history get away, I'd love to have one of my Dads bikes back. Send the carbs to me, I'll do for less than you think.
No problem man, and haha yea, trust me, I think either of us would love to get it back, especially since we know its history. And really I don't mind cleaning the carbs, but between dad and I we own 24 bikes, (20 of them are Hondas!) many of which are already ongoing projects, so we really don't need any more motorcycles. I don't think that CBX is going anywhere anytime soon though, but if it goes up for sale I'm sure one of us will be first in line and have first option to buy it!!
Oh and by the way! I know where there's a brand new 1979 CBX1000 still sitting in the dealership! The owner of the shop is asking 20k for it. More than I'd be willing to pay, but for the right buyer probably not! He used to have a brand new 89 Hawk GT as well, but don't know how much he was asking for it. Already got two of those so don't need another lol!
Well coincidentally, about 2 days after I made my first comment on your video, my dad goes to me "Mark's decided to sell my old CBX, I think I'm gonna buy it back." Needless to say, that put a big ol' grin on my face! He's gonna get it running and go for 6-6's, and then leave it standard from there. I just checked out your website, you do some awesome work! I read the RoadBike article on your CBX build, and looked at the build pictures, that CBX was exactly like ours, same year and color!
Next time you order a meal, tell them what you want, then let him tell you "ok, I'll bring you the Happy Meal, but I'm not putting what you want it because MY taste is what matters to you, and your money."
Wow, my bad, I thought the comments section was for my feelings about your video. My feelings are that you do awesome work and built a wonderful bike. I love what you did with the front end. I just dont think the flames fit with the lines of the bike and distract from what should be the focal point of the bike, that beautiful inline six. Dont want other peoples opinions? Disable the comments.
that bike is rad. I mean we have all seen stretched busa's and bikes with custom paint and wide tire kits but an old school bike like that that is totally awesome. and you can still tell its and old bike but its def. updated which is really cool. does anyone know if these things are fast or can be made fast. I mean i know there 6 cylinder 1000's but these bikes were around when i was just a kid. any knowledge on them would be great im always curious to know about different bikes.
Ohh yeah,,, that what the world need is another perfectly stock collectable motorcycle to loose in a line of them at shows.
God know you don't want to be original or 19 year old douchebags will call you a twat foir not getting in line with what they were told was cool.
Really ,,,You call me a twat for giving a customer what he wants? you're a nineteen year old child telling a 41 year old man what he should do with a bike that was made before you were born.
I saw this bike featured in a magazine and had to find more of it,its truly amazing. My best friend is restoring his 79 CBX after inheriting it from the original owner and I know this bike has been an inspiration for him.Great work.
no prob man, wish my bike was as good as yours, i have a 1983 honda cm 450 custom. anyways good luck with your next project, hope it turns out as good as this one did.
So sweet.
