you might be able too!due to your time in europa and people you have met (your profile says your in the ukraine so im sure thats a big reason why you can understand it) but if you took a czech from the Czech Republic that never went to ukraine or even met a ukrainian (highly unlikely) that czech would not be able to understand the ukraine language!
n if you speak croatian your also somewhat fluent in serbian and bosnian giving you 7 languages you can speak lol
i just said, that czech people can understand ukrainian)) and other languages, which I´ve written) we r slavians, but maybe it is easy just for me. i speak 5 slavic languages, so here ll be mistake)
@anarmehtievful A lot of Ukrainian people speak russian, and all of them mostly understand russian. But russian people dont understand ukrainian(just the same words-and these arent a lot there). Ukrainian language has some words from polish, some from russian. But-for example-czech people understand ukrainian.Their languages are more similiar, than russian and czech.)
@kendnka So, Czech, Slovak, Polish, and Ukrainian languages are very similar to one another, and its speakers can udnerstand each other without any translations? Are these languages very close to one another like Bosnian, Serbian, Croatian, and Slovenian? or like Macedonian and Bulgarian?
@anarmehtievful i dont know exactly, but i am czech and i understand without translations slovak, polish, croatian and ukrainian. and some words from bulgarian)) .Slavic languages are kinda similiar(some more, some less), but speakers mostly can comunicate each other. But-I am speaking only about myself!))
@kendnka LOL czech n ukraine are not that simular! Slovak yeh but not ukraine!
czechs dont even use the cyrillic writing like the old school slavics
n im sorry to say but i found czech confusing and frustrating with very little similarities to the other slavic languages such as polish, urkaine, russian, belarusian and the former yugoslavia languages(serbs, croats, n bosnians)
i find that very hard to believe you understand those languages without translation
(1/2)@anarmehtievful to give you a little more accurate info (not saying kendnka is wrong)
The asnwer is no! A russian that spoke pure russian would not understand a pure speaking Ukraine
lets look at the Germanic language: English! n skip the reason for why its known as a germanic language to aviod confusing you :)! as you can see the language has changed since it left the homeland of Great Britian! have you every tryed communicating with a lower class brit? seams the language has already
(2/2)@anarmehtievful changed. Slavic tribes have separated since 8th century as much as they were once the same try to imagine how it could change through the years, luckly there are still some noticable similarities between the countrys that make learning the other slavic languages easier but this does not give you the ability to be able to understand the other language. the only place that would happen for the slavic people would be in serbia, croatia n bosnia
