    Nice job LaBrie.

  • NO MORE TO GIVE!

  • I'm going with the GREATEST Dream Theater song (next to the glass prison)... its just really emotional, and got a perfect pace throughout... just can't get enough

  • all the players are awesome but jorden is the 1!

  • I prefer Jordan over Kevin but there both sick players.

  • I miss when Kevin Moore was in the band

I know Rudess is AMAZING and all, and he really is,

but when Moore was still in the band they had such a great sound that i just don't hear them play anymore

  • i couldn't agree more. since jordan came DT lost some of the magic.

But i also like derek, he was very similar to moore magically.

  • Dude, your words exactly...

  • I hear this opinion a lot but let me tell you, Rudess has nothing to do with DT's current sound. MP and JP are the leaders of the band, and they're the ones who lean towards the prog metal sound. Jordan's main influences however are classical, and old school prog (similar to I&W). So if Jordan got his way DT would sound more prog rock. So don't blame him for DT's current sound.

  • I agree with you, Moore brought some wicked sounds and melodies to Dream Theater. I miss him also.

  • one of the best songs ever made. but why is it missing the last minute or so? the song goes on for a little longer.

  • part 2 is in related videos

  • Bunghole689 you are so right the CD says 11:30 for the length of the song.

  • How many of you can relate to the messages that DT sends? I know most of what I've heard from DT seems to give me positive feelings towards life.. Just my thoughts..

  • same here. the lyrics are very deep and every song has a message. dream theater is unlike most music where there is just repeated phrases over and over. dream theater songs tell stories. GOOD stories

  • There's tons of bands that don't repeat their lyrics, and write the lyrics well..

    TONS...

Maybe if you didn't listen to shitty music you wouldn't have come across this problem?

  • Speaking of shitty music, nice account name, shop at the mall much? Fucking loser.

  • From 7.00 to 7.40 orgasmic

  • oh god you dont have to tell me lol

  • from 0.00 to 8.12 is orgasmic

  • one of their greatests songs

  • I meant "its", not "this". Sorry.

  • Probably their best song. It's a perfect diamond. There's not a single note out of this place.

  • one of best songs ever heard!

a lot of music genres are exceptionally blended togheter.

  • Took me quite a few listens for this to click, it really is one of the best tracks i've ever heard

  • Amazing. Love it.

  • Symposical Demonicaliphics.

  • was kevin moore the keyboardist for this album?

  • Yes, Kevin Moore was the keyboardist.

  • This is one of Dream Theater's greatest compositions, up there with A Change of Seasons, Trial of Tears, and all of Octavarium.

  • a count of tuscany is better than all them songs you said.... :):)

  • no way dude Octavarium is a masterpiece. The count is good.. one of the top.. but there are like 10 songs over that one hahaha!

  • i think the count... has better riffs, better intro, and better ending... though octavarium is good.... i just think the count of tuscany is better.

  • octavarium is my favorite, followed by the count of tuscany. it comes close to octavarium though.

  • and also six degrees of inner turbulence, a mind beside itself, and a fortune in lies.

  • Amazing song! I don't really like their newer albums. They can't write such good harmonies then they did. My opinion!

  • i agree. still good but theyll never beat this

  • The Count of Tuscany off their newest album rivals this. I love all their newer stuff but I understand how folks don't dig it as much as Images and Words, but the new album is f-ing unreal, and that Count of Tuscany tune really does rival anything they've done. My opinion of course.

  • I heard only one song from the new one and it didn't beat me, yet! But I hope the best! :)

  • You have to give the newer albums a chance, sometimes it takes ten or more listenings to really let it sink in, I have found that I always at least LIKE every new Dream Theater studio album but I start to LOVE it after I have been able to sing along AND ENVISION THE COMPOSITION.

  • I'll! :)

Anyway, there are some songs from every of their newer records I really like but I can't love the whole album! There are always 3 or 4 songs that makes me wow but what's up with the remains???

I'll listen to their new one during driving. I love listening to music then! :)

  • i think with some artists it takes time to sink into something. first time i heard this band it took a few listening sessions before being hooked to them.

  • This is one of my favorites from them. Going to see them actually at Helsinki in autumn (:

  • at 1m14 it sounds like one son of liquid tension experiment

  • Masterpiece

  • How is this Learning To Live? I though THIS --> |watch?v=FI8x5gZjcj4&feature=related| was Learning to Live... I might be wrong, correct me, people!

  • this is only the first part

    "1st half of song.

    Images : Dream Theater

    Words : John Myung"

    your vid is the 2nd

  • Yeah, I know that now... Because minutes after watching this, I listened to the real album...

And what I'm wondered about is why DaniSeku91 split the song into two parts, cause it's one song on the album?

P.S. Thanks for replying, anyways! ;)

  • I think it's longer than 10 min

and on youtube you can only uploud vids

    with max 10 min

    I think^^

  • Oh... Hehehe, makes sense, didn't really think about that one. :)

The song is 11 and a half minutes long, btw. :)

  • Absolutely awesome. Mindblowing.

  • I love the guitar solo right near the end!

  • Rest of the song is that 3 minute vid with the same title to the right there.

  • where is the pwnage ending

  • The song is no complete, I love the the ending of this song, it's so amazing. :(

  • ya he hits the F#5 in Octavarium during part 4: Intervals, the last time he screams TRAPPED INSIDE THIS OCTAVARIUM

  • one of dream theater's best

  • Brilliant music. Thx for posting.

  • This isn't the entire song :(

  • i never knew i'd ever watch a band on here and have to move the mouse around a bit to stop it going to screensaver =/

    ps dt rules

  • OMG!!! this song is just so awsome!!!

  • 5:30 EXELENT SPANISH GUITAR SOLO!!

  • genius song

  • 7:00 - 7:11....... i had an orgasm

  • im looking forward to the new album

  • This song contains the highest vocals ever sung on a Dream Theater song at around 6 minutes. Great song.

  • Well, imagine LaBrie in Maiden... because it almost happened. When Bruce left, LaBrie was the first guy Harris and Maiden's management asked.

  • Absolutely!

  • Check out the Talk page on his Wikipedia entry.

  • I was talking about the F#5 note at 7:06

  • that note is amazing

  • I know. I believe he gets that high in Octavarium also.

  • Yeah but you can't hear it to well because he's screaming when he hits it.

  • can any one comfirm to me that this song has parts of it in 15/8?

  • Yeah, such as the beginning of the song, I believe.

  • indeed.

  • interesting song

  • dream theater used to make music like this one. i really miss them

  • Agreed. As good as Systematic Chaos and Train of Thought are, I miss this old kind of DreamTheater.. at least at most of their concerts they still play these songs though.

  • Your opinion is my opinion.

  • I definitely agree with bahbuhbih. To tell you the truth, I think that Dream Theater was probably at their true best during the Images and Words-A Change of Seasons era. I understand that their albums sound more modern for a purpose, but they could've at least retained some of their nostalgic themes that we all love.

  • yeah

  • + infinite thumbs up

  • amazing keyboards in this song

  • dreamtheater are the best band ever and this is one of there best songs love it 5 stars

  • mesmorising

  • omg i can't wait for the new album.

It was either portnoy or petrucci said it would be like having ACoS, Metropolis, Pull Me Under, all on 1 album.

    It will be bitchin^^

  • naw dude it was Mike saying it'll be

ACoS, Octavarium, Learning to Live, Pull me Under, and The Glass Prison

either way, it'll be fucking amazing

I hope they make a long long long song

like SDoIT or Octavarium or ACoS

their longest ones are some of their absolute bests

    but all DT is good

    long live Dream Theater!

  • I like the bass :)

  • 6:59 the greatest moment in vocal history

  • whoooa oooooa ooooooh....

    whaaaaa haaaa whaaaaaa....

    WHAAAAA HAAAAA

    WAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!

    *earth implodes*

  • epic scream that leads right into an epic John Petrucci guitar solo. It only seems right.

  • i concur!!! lmao!!!! so awesome!!!

  • That F# is insane.

  • Myung needs to start writing more stuff.

  • Yes...

  • Come on,i firmly believe that Kevin Moore is BY FAR the best lyricist(and keyboardist too) DT ever had.His lyrics have so much depth, they are emotional and relaxing at times.Sometimes they are like a lesson of life(Only A matter of time, genius lyricism, the last part especially is incredible),some times can travel or trancend you(Surrounded,Wait for sleep,Space dye Vest),other times they are straight forward like in Lie and last but not least they make you think about your life's route(PMU).

  • I believe the lyrics for this song are by John Myung.

  • yeah i know the lyrics have been written by Myung but i'm speaking about Moore...

  • Alright. i didn't check the Coment Board. Kool man.

  • Rudess is pretty damn good.

  • Rudess isnt in this song? :p

  • Correct.

The keyboard player on this album was Kevin Moore.

He left after they recorded "Awake".

    Gaz

  • Hahaha, we know, but "Rudess is pretty damn good." :D

Maybe he didn't made any comment about this song, maybe just generally about Rudess... lol

  • this shit, is ythe very best shit of the world

  • hola, soy el tano y me encanta el metal!!!!

Mosheo todo el dia sin parar!

Surfeo body en mis ratos libres

    vivo en capital. en tandil!

    Aguante los pibes tanos!

  • one of the bests songs ive heard.

  • hey at 1:18 it sounds like one of LTE song

  • this is not the whole song :/

  • Hey, man. Look in the related videos.

  • I did :P Sorry

  • try looking in DaniSeku91's DT playlist the rest of the song should be there

  • i think myungs got the best lyrics...he hasnt written many of the songs but each song he has written is quite deep...

    like this song

  • the first few lines are paraphrased from a rand novel

  • Do you mean an Ann Rand novel? If so, which one?

  • Fountainhead

  • Oh.. Now I got it. Atlas Shrugged - very cool.

  • Maan the drums.. Epicness! And the singing at 4:50 = awesome.. Great song!

  • Just in my opinon, Portnoy is the best in the band at writing lyrics. Even though he didn't start writing the AA thing till much later, he's still incredible at writing lyrics. John Petrucci in second, Myung in third, and LaBrie in fourth,

  • Actually i prefer Myung's lyrics to the rest of the band - he doesn't do many songs but the ones he does - like this one and Fatal Tragedy - are amazing! On the other hand never been a big fan of the lyrics LaBrie writes

  • Yeah, I agree about Myung. And it is ironic that the lead vocalist for the band is pretty shit at writing lyrics :). No offense to JLB, but he should let Petrucci and Portnoy give him his lyrics (Not every song has to have lyrics that deal with political or religious agendas (i.e. "Blind Faith", "Sacrificed Sons", "Prophets of War") The only real quality lyrics that JLB has written have to be "Anna Lee" and "Disappear".

  • No, but not every song has to be about monsters or has to have a plotline.

Portnoy's lyrics are always without depth and with a definite rhyme scheme. If any, his is the worst lyrics. But I like his too, so....

  • Portnoy's lyrics without depth???? he wrote lyrics for a change of seasons!!

  • actually petrucci and portnoy are writing most of the songs.

  • lyrics i mean

  • some newer songs like The Root Of all Evil and Panic Attack have some epic lyrics.

  • FUCK I love the drums in this song

  • I can hit Labrie's F#.

I have to use the falsetto though.

  • Comment removed

  • whoaaaaa-hoaaaaaa-hoaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

    Whoaaaaa-Hoaaaaaa-Hoaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

    WHOAAAAA-HOAAAAAA-HOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

    love it!!!!

  • fuck off, if you dont like Labrie then dont listen to Dream Theater, hes their frontman

  • this is the best dream theatre song

  • my all time favourite song.. it's just perfect

the bass part in the end is the best ever composed together with the tapped one in Metropolis

  • sounds like karn evil 9 by ELP

  • i luv this song

  • Man that guitar solo after LaBrie hits that high note is gut-wrenching.

  • i was just thinking the same thing

  • Awesome album!

  • triggered drums??

  • His snare is triggered

  • whats triggered drums?

  • When you play acoustic set, but you put thin pads over them and mix in an electronic drum sound, to boost the sound. Some like others dont. Mike didnt like it so he switched them out after.

  • parts of this song remind me of jethro tull....especially at 4:46 to 4:55

  • WHOA, HO-HOAAAAAAAA!!!!!!

  • progressive is a music for people,ho can listen through it inside.the best genre

  • Dream Theater > All

  • i live to here that F# and following guitar solo everyday

  • Hell yeah, best band ever.

  • DT has to be one of the best bands ever. This song is hot.

  • Myung wrote this? This actually seems like something Moore would write. Lyrics are amazing, I thought Portnoy mentioned that Myung's lyrics don't make sense?

  • I think he said they dont fit the song.

  • its not that his lyric dident make sense that dident useally fit with the music that was the problem

  • Breathtaking music!!! My fav DT song along with "Voices".

  • Here before me is my soul

    I'm learning to live...

    Great song! :D

  • Gotta love that F#

  • Whoa-ho-HOOOOOOOHHHHH!!!!!

  • i think its more Whoa-ho-HAAAAAAAAIIIIIIIAAA! xD

  • ah, F#, thanks:P i was weondering what note it was

  • The best Dream Theater song ever!...least my fave today...tomorrow it may be Lifting Shadows Off A Dream.

  • is it cause myung wrote both of em?

  • Never thought of it that way but Myung did write some awesome songs.

  • Their best song IMO. I wish they did a remix to this as they did for Pull me Under, Take the Time and Another Day.

  • I&W and Awake are the best DT albums ever, with Metropolis 2.

  • me encanta esta cancion.dream theather son capaces de mezclar distintas texturas de sonidos, mezclar lo visrtuoso con lo extremo...y hacer unas ambientaciones que te llevan a relamente volarte con su musica...excelente tema.

  • Dude this sound ROCKS,

The harmony, the melody, the lyric, all

    DT its everything!

    thanks for uptade!

  • thanks for uploading...dt rules!!!

  • Awesome song!!!

  • really cool song.i like the idea of "learning to live".

  • What the hell do you mean ?

  • scary,ain't it?

seems modern times are slowly becoming more troubled and tumultuous.

    Learning To Live indeed.
