The new Berlin airport BBI (now with English subtitles !!!)

I like Germany and its capital Berlin.But! At the building site of this new terminal at least 40 Hungarian workers at a German firm, which acted as a sub-contractor,at the new Berlin airport's building have cheated and canceled their wage....Its about 200.000 euros!! Forty Hungarian workers did not obtain his offered wage..If German companies need "cheaper" but talented European workforce,they need to pay them according the German and European laws as it should!!

I'd say finally but I have a hunch that once the new airport is completed they're going to post our poor asses to Tegel this time instead of Schönefeld :( I don't believe that they will permit its use as a hub by cheap companies like Ryanair and easyJet so it's good that Berlin will finally have a modern airport to city connection but sad that we won't be able to use it after suffering Regionalverkehr train rides from Schönefeld to Hauptbahnhof...

Wenn Du dich ein wenig auskennen würdest, wüsstest Du, dass BBI von der Berliner Flughafengesellschaft betrieben werden wird und diese wird geführt von den Ländern Berlin, Brandenburg und der Bundesrepublik Deutschland. Daher werden die Einnahmen anteilig verteilt. Für einen Tempelhof-Fundamentalisten muss das schwer zu verstehen sein. Aber gewöhn Dich dran: THF ist tot, BBI wird leben!!!

Und bitte: Schreib nicht mehr auf englisch, Du kannst es einfach nicht!

@Airbusalex I believe, due this Fabulous city, that the city would want to build a new airport, to welcome more ciizens to this historical and fantastic city. I may be wrong, correct me, but I dont think it will destroy any importance to the city. I think, BBI is a fantastic new airport that will welcome a whole bunch of new travel experience. Thumb up if you think BBI is good for berlin.

Sehr schön! Es ist sicher ein ehrgeiziger Plan. Berlin ist dennoch eine der wichtigsten Hauptstädte Europas und als solche braucht sie unbedingt einen großen, modernen und funktionellen Flughafen. Das finde ich einfach perfekt! Ich bin neugierig den neuen Berliner Flughafen aus der Nähe zu sehen, wenn er fertig sein wird...

Ich bin auch Berlin-Fan, aber man sollte den Realitäten ins Auge sehen. BER wird so schnell nicht vor München liegen, MUC ist einer der Airports mit den größten Zuwächsen, bald wird es dort die dritte 4000m - Piste geben, MUC ist der zweite Hub der Lufthansa, der Flughafen fängt die Kapazitätsengpässe von FRA auf.

Wenn BER eröffnet wird, mag dort die PAX-Zahl bei ca. 25Mill.iegen, aber MUC hat dann schon die 40 Mill. überschritten.

Außerdem ist BER dann bereits an der Kap.-Grenze!

ach ja was ich noch sagen wollte, es werden keine 25 mill. sondern ab 2011 schon 30 mill. passagiere abgefertigt werden können, da man den immens wachsenden passagierzahlen in berlin , platz bieten muss (könnt ihr alle auch bei wiki nachschaun :)).

es wird in berlin keine engpässe geben , da der bbi bis auf 40 millionen pas. jährlich ausgebaut wird... notfalls kann man Tegel auch wieder in betrieb nehmen falls er nicht schon umfunktioniert wurde oder andersweitig verwendet wird.. die menschen fliegen nur nach münchen oder frankfurt weil das die großen flughäfen sind.. aber wenn doch sowieso die meisten touristen nach berlin gehen und dort auch die wirtschaft wächst warum dann erst nach münchen?..

ja genau das mein ich aber nur zur info ich bin jemand, der sich tag täglich über dieses thema mit den all mir zur verfügung stehenden quellen informiert und wenn du das auch tun würdest dann wüsstest du. dass der bbi mit einer startkapazität von 30 mio. startet und jetzt doch auf 50 mio. ausgebaut werden kann. grund dafür sind die stark anwachsenden kapazitäten in tegel und schönefeld, die europaweit top sind :D

BBI (the IATA-code will de BER) will be able to support any flights, the 2 runways will be 4000 and 3600 m long.

Air Berlin, the home carrier of BER, has ordered 25 B 787. I don't think there will be flights with the a380 at BER.

When is this airport going into service? I flew into Tegel in Sept. 2007 and had some problems. Missed the baggage claim carousel because there were no signs pointing to baggage claim. Ended up exiting the secure area and was not allowed to go back to baggage claim. Had to go to the lost luggage building to finally get my luggage.

The new airport is going to service in octobre 2011.

You're right, Tegel is overloaded. In 2007 the Berlin airport had 20 Mill. Pax, in 2011 it will be near by 25 Mill.

Ich denke, damit ist das Flughafeneinzugsgebiet gemeint. Denn die nächsten internationalen Airports sind ja nur Leipzig/Halle und Dresden. Und gerade für die Leute in Ost- und Süd-Mecklenburg-Vorpommern und Ost-Sachsen-Anhalt liegt BBI näher als Hamburg bzw. Hannover oder Nürnberg. So könnte man auf 10 Mio. kommen. Vor allem haben große int. Airport wie Frankfurt und München ebensfalls ein größeres Einzugsgebiet über ihre Bundeslandgrenzen hinaus.
