Big Mama...I love you and always will. Rest In Much Peace!

  • Made the absolute best recording of Houndog ever.

Died alone in a hotel room in Los Angeles. I never saw her live but Idid get around LA at the time. I did see a lot of today well know black musicians at the time.

I liked those day better than today.

But I am white and probably had a different perspective. At the time I cruised from the Mannhole in Hollywood to the Zebra Lounge on East Manchester. Of course points in between Great stuff.

  • wonder who played harp for her? I know she played harp herself at times but in this recording it sounds a bit like Little Walter or,,,,somebody.....dunno..maybe James Cotton.....sounds AMAZING. And shes just the utmost! hehe! Wow,,,,,I hope shes right...hope everythings gon' be alright. For everybody. xx Peace and love & thanks for posting. Blessings to ya. "Jenny"

  • @NoRosesForMe - probably Little Walter by the feel of it..Big Mama..Rock Me Ma Diva !

  • @ReedBender1 I thought so but,,,,someone else also posted this and sure enoughit is James Cotton. Eerie how they sound so similar. And I usually know who's who hehe! Been playin harp since I was 13. I thought I had a good ear....dunno anymore tee hee! xx thanks tho and peace to ya. ♥ "Jenny"

  • @NoRosesForMe - ok thanks for that- Walter Horton & James Cotton both added a non intrusive/complementary feel to Muddy's style, & likewise on this track where the harp blends well.

I love Big Mama's "Rock Me Baby" Oregon clip-that's where she unleashes her formidable "harp power".........sheer Mama power.

Peace to you also Sister !
