@MarkFomAlbany totally agree and was a product of divorce and being raised roman catholic. this song gave me hope that 1 day I would fly up up and away
One of several naively optimistic and musically dated Pop songs from my childhood which still haunt my psyche. Such songs were all over the place then, helping me believe the world was all sunshine, lollipops, and rainbows... as my parents divorced and I was raised in a dysfunctional home (although I didn't know it then). This kind of child-like optimism and care-free happiness is long gone, alas.
They were lip-syncing the song. I am absolutely certain of it. I played a vinyl recording along with the video and was able to syncronize the audio with the video and the mouths matched perfectly. So they were lip-syncing the song.
I still don't understand why the people who own YouTube haven't fixed that stupid red upside down thumbs up glitch yet. P.S. Thank you Simon from the Yogscast for bringing me here!
Oh this makes me think of a gorgious evening night departing JFK Terminal 5 on a TWA 747 to Paris after a few cocktails with Ms. Liza with a Z at the Lisbon Lounge!
Such a nice wonderful song. It's shame that good music like this doesn't exist anymore. Now everything is crap for music, just look at MTV and VH1 nothing but immoral reality shows and horrible trash music.
i first heard this in that fresh prince where carlton gets ready for a date and he starts doing his crazy dance moves and will catches him in the act lol
I heard this song for the first time coincidentally about a week before they mentioned it and then suddenly I kept seeing references to it and now here I am.
What a beautiful song. They sang: The worlds a nicer place in my beautiful balloon. We can sail along the silver sky. FOR WE CAN FLY! African American media execs, I beg you to stop celebrating degenerate ghetto culture. The future of your race is at stake.
I don't think that there was a variety show in the US that this brilliant group did not appear on back in the day. I was a little boy, but I still remember seeing them - and loving their music - on every evenning "special" (remember "specials?") and variety show. (Remember "variety shows?!")
@arkady714 You are so right about those shows. Remember Hollywood Palace, Ed Sulllivan, Dean Martin shows. Too bad they don't have them anymore, but then again, groups like this don't exist anymore.
@babylove410 Deam Martin, Flip Wilson, Ed Sullivan, Carol Burnett. Risque stuff like The Smothers Brothers. Short ived ones like Rich Little, Joey Bishop, Jerry Lewis.
