That is why they take the pills on a regular basis. In order to permanently alter their hormones, they would have get castrated and then take estrogen pills.
Even after getting castrated and taking hormone pills however, a transexual would still not be female. Their neural pathways would be altered to make them behave more feminine-like, but their brain chemistry would still not be the same as females. They would not be able to experience much sexial pleasure, and they would not be able to reproduce. They wouldn't be full men either because they would lack the testerone and ability to ejaculate and experience sexual pleasure.

Most transexuals do not permanently change their hormones because they can't. They take estrogen pills that make them look and behave more feminine. However, if they have scrotums the testes produce testosterone that counter the estrogen pills, and their effects wear off soon. If trans don't take the pills again, they revert to full males. That is why they take the pills on a regular basis. In order to permanently alter their hormones, they would have get castrated and then take estrogen pills.

Their neural pathways would be altered to make them behave more feminine-like, but their brain chemistry would still not be the same as females. They would not be able to experience much sexial pleasure, and they would not be able to reproduce. They wouldn't be full men either because they would lack the testerone and ability to ejaculate and experience sexual pleasure.

It's not about giving genetic tests to the people you meet on the street, it's about the definition of a man or a woman. Genetically a man cannot become a woman, and because of this it also means that a man cannot become a woman socially either, because the brain is still male and cannot perfectly replicate a females behavior or feelings no matter how many hormones they take. You see hormones don't change the brain chemistry, they just tell your brain to secrete more of estrogen or testosterone

To be clearer, physical aspects of the brain actually determine behavior. So even though transexuals learn to behave like the opposite sex from going to classes or from observation, they lack the physical parts of the brain that the sex they are opposite to possess, so they can never really feel and replicate the behaviors of the opposite sex accurately. If you know what to look for, you can almost always tell a transexual from the real thing.
