That has got to be the cutes Quaker parrot video i have ever seen. I have 2 QPs that im tryIng to socialize with humans. I wish they were that happy and not scared or aggressive to evryone but eachother :(
i have two quaker parrots...enna is a girl...and riffraff is a guy enna talks alot...riffraff used to talk nut in texas when there was a tornadoe it scared him really bad and one of his buddys...chitchat passed away and they used to talk all the time but now the only time riffraff talks is when hes under a blanket
I have a 4 year old Quaker named Paco and he likes to try and sing with the radio. He especially likes 'Cyclone' because he does the rerererer part and it is hilarious.
Anyway, our Georgie is a peach. Love it! Great job. Nice to see another Quaker lover around.
Just talk to her in a sweet voice and give her treats. Don't force her to interact. But spend alot of time talking to her close to her while she is in the cage. She will warm up to you eventually.
Georgie is just the cutest thing I've ever seen! The trumpet solo had me giggling! And, the discussion you two had at the end was adorable! You seem like a wonderful "parront"! Please keep up the great work!
@aryanlove777 Did you ever adopt a bird? I hope I previously responded to your comment 6 months ago. I apologize if I did not. It could have been my oversight. Googling rescue centers in the area is a good way to find birds near you.
Please rescue instead of buying from a pet store. There are 400 rescue centers with displaced birds. Watch my video: "Macaw Betty in Parakeet Cage 17 Years" and you will be inspired to save a bird from abuse or neglect.
@GeLLaStayAway I agree with you that the parrot doesn't seem to be unhappy. In my opinion, George is one of the luckiest birds on the planet to have someone catering to his every need. I wish all birds had an owner like Geroge's. He says in his last video that he made that he walks around on him most of the day.
I think you misunderstood my comment. The comment was made to someone who was going to check out the rescue centers to find a bird. I encourage rescuing instead of buying.
@GeLLaStayAway I was directing my comment to folion3721 who was interested in getting a bird from a rescue center. If all birds were treated like George, the precious quaker, there would be no need for rescue centers. There are many unwanted birds that need to be adopted by someone to take good care of them. Captive birds set free would die. They would not know how to take care of themselves. I wish all cats and dogs were rescued by people that would love & care for them.
@birdlady423 I could not watch that video BC I would be ready to kil whoever did that to the bird, I have a quaker and he is so rotten it crazy, he is my baby and if anyone even thought about hurting him I would kill them. I would love to adopt another quaker but I cannot find a local bird shelter. I live in NC
@birdlady423 hey Linda not trying to ruffle any feathers :) ..but in my experience, rescues often don't make good pets. They've been neglected and poorly trained, if trained at all. No one wants a pet that bites, goes on the floor, etc. It's sad and I dunno that there is a solution, because it's not the animal's fault. But birds especially get stuck in their habits and it can be hard to train an adult set in his ways.
@eyepatchinc Birds in general hardly ever make good pets, they're more like companions, and if you get a macaw they're like children. Even a well trained bird will bite every once in a while. The only possible downside to taking in a rescued bird would be building a good relationship with it and training it from there.
all quakers are alike im from Argentina (where the bird comes from) and they all do the same stuff, mine is COCO and i have it in my shoulder right know its like looking him in the video, he likes Jason Mars "im yours" song haha maybe he is a she xD
You have only had him 8 days? And,he's only a baby! Please do research on quakers and sharing your home with these wonderful personalities. I now have a (rescue) sun conure, had a quaker years ago. Both are marvelous companions, but you need to give him some time to get used to his new environment, and you owe it to both of you to learn as much as you can. Find a good avian vet, they are indispensable for guidance. Please let us know how you do. :-)
I don't necessarily agree about discouraging nesting behavior. It can lead to trouble, it's natural and I believe it can be more damaging to them if they are quelched from normal behavior. I know there's arguments for both ways, but my bird is my honored guest...well, he lets me live here. His welfare has to be first.
Um.... Georgie is regurgitating for you. Not necessarily a good thing. He is very cute but I would be worried about him getting aggressive especially once he goes thru puberty. For companion birds it is recomended not to allow them to engage in nesting or other sexual behavior.
I am happy to hear he is out and about. REmember the old hymn, "I sing because Im happy, I sing because Im free, His eye is on the sparrow, and I know, He watches me!" God bless you and your precious birdie!!!!!!
George is wonderful. I have 2 quakers and I adore them. I built a simple frame on top of their cage from a few limber sticks bent into a u shape. Then I brought in limber green sticks, switches.
They wove a very nice, tight, covered nest. They add sawdust from the bark of the sticks that I bring them. They like limber sticks about 14 inches long. The kind of straight sprouts/sticks that come up from a cut-down tree works good. They need to be very straight so they can weave them.
The nest is open at both ends. They go outside nearly every day and stay in a tent with some old tree limbs and vines to play on. They love to go out. They get away once in awhile but do not go far. They are always ready to come inat night. dangerous because of hawks and cats.
Seriously wonderfully cute. Georgie is gettin' down with his bad self! And I haven't heard that milk cow song for a dog's age...what is the name of it and do you know all the words? I'd love to find the words so I can sing them in my band...
I need to show this to my boyfriend. I want one of these little guys so badly, but he wants a cat or dog. Tell me, does a cat or a dog have this much personality, though? I think not!
George is a riot! You had a great idea in how to give him a version of a quaker nest. It's very obvious that you love each other and that he lives to interact with you. As for lillylooxx's comment that birds don't sleep on one leg - it's obvious she either doesn't have a bird or doesn't bother observing birds that are comfortable in their surroundings.
Thats great! I Have A quaker parrot myself and i've watched a lot of other quakers on here and your bird by far is the greatest one i've seen on here so far...Thats halarious!
My quaker likes to laugh when he bites me! Im trying to teach him to sing low rider, hes got the rythm down. Andwhen hes lonely he cries like a baby. his last owner left him in a cage with a toddler. lol
he's going nuts lol, he's just like my quaker, only mine does that when ever my brother comes near him when i have him, cuz he doesnt like my brother, lol sooo funny
woh thats crazy, i started laughing at his head bobbing and then the bird was laughing too. :) he's an intense little dancer!!!
My quaker is like that too, I'm a singer/songwriter and I can't play music without him going at it, lol. he actually clicks and bleeps to the beat it's amazing.
My quaker is 8 this September. She has moments where she is more talkative than others...ESPECIALLY vocal when I sing. :P I think they love it. Her name is Howie...thought she was a boy up until 3 years ago when she decided to lay an egg. I LOVED watching this video. He's so like Howie! :) These birds make for the best pets/family members. Mine plays watchdog and barks sometimes and sounds the alarm if she sees anything she thinks is suspicious! GREAT VIDEO!

They wove a very nice, tight, covered nest. They add sawdust from the bark of the sticks that I bring them. They like limber sticks about 14 inches long. The kind of straight sprouts/sticks that come up from a cut-down tree works good. They need to be very straight so they can weave them.
