I would say nasa and the apollo program are publicly funded so just like the white house, the footage, the moon rocks and the rockets and space shuttles, they belong to us all as far as public domain goes.
I am sorry if the Footagevault logo offends you. we are an Archive company who spend a considerable amount of time and our own money archiving and preserving this material (NASA and ESA) for the future, we also provide this material for use in films and TV shows, we provided all archive in HD for 'In The Shadow of the Moon' and recent Discovery series. The watermark is to protect our archive from our competitors, BBC, ITN etc as our material is of higher quality and in better condition
I agree with spzatt, why the f*** would you put your username on an original footage? It spoils the video (which is only 8 seconds long). There is no reason for you to have done that. If there are any copyrights still existing for NASA footage, I believe that the copyright would belong solely to NASA and not you.

Providing clean videos for YouTube would incur additional cost. We have applied to YouTube for partner status which would mean a small income from the advertising viewed while watching our videos, we would then use these funds (though small) to re process a selection of our material to upload and replace the watermarked footage. We appreciate this does not solve your grievance but hope this makes our position clear, we hope to have new material up as soon as the funds allow it.
@Footagevault Then just downgrade your quality other ways if that is your point. Putting your logo over this insults the the astronaughts, and the US as a whole.
