Am I crazy or are the drums the main instrument in most of Can's music? I'd say the "melody" but of course that doesn't apply to drums, but it kinda fits in like that.
Jaki played this solo to bridge a power blackout during a CAN concert in Brussels on 9th of January 1976, that's why the crowd can be heard so loudly!
I don't think CAN members normally played any solos, but I saw kind of a Jaki solo towards the end of the bands history in 1977. CAN actually published their only live album from bootleged fan recordings, so the copyright issue here is not very relevant.
I was turned on to Can around 1999.I'm close to 50 years young.Once I heard them I knew this is how rock was meant to be played.Along w. electric Miles it dosen't get any better.IMO.Bang on Miles and Can you have change my life
thank you so much :)

Geez, this quiet little guy behind a basic drum set sounds like an entire marching band drum line. Incredible.

@MrSpreadgoodmusic
The event is described in "The CAN Book", available through Amazon.com
It contains an extensive history of the band.
There are bootlegs of most of the Brussels show in circulation amongst fans.

Jaki's immense - better than Bonham and Moon.
Reni is the most naturally gifted drummer I've ever come across, though.

@MrThreshold2009 -JL could've sat in with Zeppelin or The Who as a Saturday job for pocket money- But he had a real job with Can
