This a bit of a contradiction to my earlier post, but I think it's a valid question. Where were the teabaggers when the Patriot Act was signed? They were sitting at home being good little Republicans. I think any Republican that believed in smaller government like most of them claim, they most certainly wouldn't be Republicans.

As much as I hate to do it (because I voted for Obama), I kind of have to agree with you. Civil rights are being taken away under both Democrats and Republicans, just in different ways. The thing is, as long as they say it's in the name of safety, the general populace doesn't seem to care. This ranges from local bans on certain breeds of dog all the way up to Patriot Act.

@SoldierBoyX, That's true. If Obama really wanted to undo some of Bush's damage, he would start by repealing the Patriot Act. What bothers me about the tea baggers, and a lot of people in general, is that they don't seem to understand that almost every law created to "protect" us really takes away a little bit of freedom. The thing is, politicians aren't usually actively taking freedoms away so much as we are just giving them away.
