I believe patient will know if it is too much for him/her & will take it off; there's a balance to everything.I say whatever wrks, wrks. I have se ways I tape foot for plantar fasciitis. For example, I tape bottom of foot & around the heel & invariably pts tell me it takes pressure off & provides support. Another option is using Kinesiotape over gastroc to HC to plantar foot, etc.. Again, each patient will note what works for them. It's worth experimentg & communicatg w/pt to see what wrks best
Let me clarify, as it seems some folks haven't read my uploader comments. This is a therapeutic tape job. It is only meant to be on for 4 minutes maximum. You do not keep it on over night. Nay sayers.... please don't knock it if you haven't tried it. It cured my plantar fasciitis, that I had in both feet, in two weeks. If you've tried other things and they haven't worked... give it a shot. Happy healing:)

@abrancati15 the reason it's taped is so that it stretches out the plantar fasciia overnight so you don't wake up in agony. Seriously, before you make ridiculous comments why don't you research the condition properly. I'm on my feet most of the day and have 2 very active young children and my feet hurt like hell - I don't see that as being lazy!
@bubaloo79 actually you're only supposed to stretch out the fascia for 10-15 min max. you should never sleep with this tape job on because it will over stretch and can cause micro tears which will just make your pain worse. all i was saying is that if you're using this tape job properly (for 10-15 min) then it is lazy and a waste of resources to even use it at all because you can do it so many other ways w/out even using tape.
I don't get it - what's the benefit of keeping it on there for 4 minutes? I thought the main reason you'd tape your feet up like this would be to sleep like it overnight so that the tears could heal over-night in that position?
You will know when you try it:-) This is a serious stretch that you can only do for 3-4 minutes or you can cause damage. This is the max you can stretch it...it's not like those night time devices they sell ... it's a way bigger stretch. The idea is to break up the scar tissue and stretch the fascia and then allow it to repair itself. Trust me it works:-)
I would do it at night before bed...but I will admit I did it in the morning and at night a couple of times when I had a competition to run. Once I learned this tape job my plantar fasciitis went away in about two weeks:-)
Can you tell me what kind of tape you use? I've tried 4 brands and none of them rip. I have to cut them and the scissors keep gumming up. Thanks again!
Sorry...I didn't see your comment earlier. I'm glad it helped you:-)
It is called athletic tape...it is important that it is not stretchy tape. Sorry I don't know the brand... some brands are easier to tear off with your fingers than others. But as long as it isn't stretchy it will work fine.
it is fine for circulation as you only leave it taped for 3-4 minutes. Just keep leg stretched out on a flat surface. It works great! It fixed my plantar fasciitis.

When would you do this then at the start of the day or at the end of the day?
Cheers for responding so quickly.
