A major part of it. Kareem is the greatest center of all time becoz of Magic, the greatest laker of all time made it all possible.

OH dude totally..... NBA refs are dirty and it's been proven... I've watched so many games where the refs are calling fouls when CLEARLY you can see the guy wasn't even touched... It happens all the dam time... AND because of that certain star players just drive the lane to draw a foul not to score like they used to back in the day.... I HATE the current NBA...

The new breed prototype NBA player couldn't keep up with a lot of the Elder OG's of the NBA. Magic , Bird, Jabbar, Erving Moses, Barry, Miller, on an on they knew fundamentals and improv , They worked hard and gave their all. Kidd and Duncan , Allen, Kobe are old souls in the hiphop gen X game and look how they deal. I wish I had a 1000 characters to shout out respect to the OG's of the NBA

This was a classic rivalry!!! What I liked about all these guys is that they knew when to give the ball up to a teammate to help their team win. Some guys now (not all) are ball hogs. I hardly watch basketball (unless it is college) cuz it got so commercialized & some players whine a lot. Oh, wanna hear something funny??? I saw some guy on another video saying that LaBron could skool magic and MJ anyday. That might be a HUGE over-statement, even if LaBron is your favorite player 8o

Bird and Magic in the NBA right now would destroy the league. A 6'9 point guard with vision like no other, in a league that negates defense on the perimeter.Also a 6'9 SF who can literally shoot anywhere on the court would be given room to shoot unlike back then when he didnt have room. For one, Tim Duncan is not better than Shaq, and Jerry West is better than both. In my opinion kobe should be higher up in that list not sure where, but he done a lot more than Tim Duncan.

The best thing in Magic and Bird is the way they involved the rest of the team in their game. And specially Magic shows how to enjoy the pleasure of playing basketball . Jordan has been the greatest (even better than it can be thought) as an individual player, but the Magic-Bird rivalry is the essential of the love for this soport.

As great as Jordan is, he could only play 3 positions! Think about it, you only had to fear him offensively at half court, but Magic as soon as the ball was inbounds. Magic could play all 5 positions! But I agree Jordan is the best, but Magic #1 in my heart as a player. Now Bird vs Magic is like Ali vs Frazier it was a WAR! Stay Up Playa in 09...

Magic knew that the team belongs to Kareem. Magic knew Kareem had great pride that he will not just give his mantle as team captain to him. But fans and nba critics knew more that the team belongs to Magic the time he set his foot on the court. He is the key to the engine of the Lakers offensive juggernaut. Kareem is just a part of it. A major part of it. Kareem is the greatest center of all time becoz of Magic, the greatest laker of all time made it all possible.

Jabbar was already a lock for the Hall of Fame before Magic ever played his first game with the Lakers. From 1970 to 1980 Kareem won 6 MVPs and a world championship.
I agree Magic was a special player and he actually made the game fun for Kareem again and allowed him to continue to play at a high level.
Bottom line is that Kareem made Magic`s game easier and vice versa.

Whether u like it or not, Jordans career will forever be intertwined with that of Bird and Magic. Jordan didnt get the title of best player in the nba until the two retired. Thats a good 8 yrs of playing second banana to Bird and Magic. But not to take anything away from Jordan, he is arguably the GOAT. How i wish a time machine can be invented and see how his Bulls the 91-93 and the 96-98 teams will fare against the 80's celtics and lakers. This is going to be a dandy.

In `1985 Johnson cameback and played very well but Kareem dominated the series and was the biggest factor in LA championship. The whole team had a tougher attitude.
I would put both guys in the top 5-6 players alltime.
As far as Jordan goes he could have been the greatest but regardless of what the modern media says there are a handful of guys that belong in the conversation. Jabbar, Wilt, Russell, Oscar, Bird and Magic.

In the `84 finals the Lakers were running all over Boston. Bird took the leadership of his team. It started in the lockeroom and he backed it up on the court.
In that series Larry did everything. He was the run away MVP of the Finals. That was a series that was stackd with many great players.
On the other hand Magic cost his team in many ways. His turnovers and missed free throws He basically choked. The pressure got to him.
Bird willed his team to victory that time.

At their respective peaks they were very close. As a Laker fan and a fan of Magic Id have to say Bird was better. The Celtics and Bird won 3 world titles and he won 3 MVPs in a row 84 85 86.

Yep. Lakers were helped by the 2-3-2, in 85, otherwise the Celts may have three-peated. By 87 the Celtics were hampered by injuries, and by 88 Detroit was simply better.
