  • OMG FFVII for DS? FF5 is ok but that "game"?!

I hope that will never happen(DS is too cool for FF7)

  • Can you tell me how do you extract the sequence from ePSXe?

  • i never played FF7,but watched the movie...

if it was remastered and released on the DS,it would be awesome

  • The only problem will be lots of uncompressed per-rendered back grounds(Hell those things where already compressed enough and spans over 3 disks). They can use an expensive 256Mb carts while compressing everything even more or simply just port/remake it over to the 3DS since cart space is over 2GB.

  • @SgtThom And then, with all of that extra hardware to play with, porting FF7 would be stupid easy.

  • @SgtThom

indeed, waiting for the 3ds would be a better idea, and you could take advantage of the 3ds 3d screen.

  • if ff7 can be mad eon the PSP, so can the DS. nuff said

  • Heh I remember having a .it of an old version of this song. If I remember correctly it didn't have the actual vocal samples and needed to record them. I ended up fiddling with ff7 PC's soundfonts to get some and tried importing them into the .it once. Not sure if it was yours or someone else's.

  • @KilloZapit It may have been mine, though my first version used recorded lyrics (albeit, they were badly recorded)

I put out a version that didn't have lyrics as well so that may also be mine or not, I'm not sure. You'll have to check out my mod archive and see.

  • @tssf it was, I checked the comments in the file :P

  • I thought DS and PS1 are similiar in that thy both use ADPCM channel synthesis only PS1 has 8 more channel from 24 and DS has 16 from what I read up .

  • @SPS148669 They are similar, but the PSX had 512k of sample memory (compressed of course), and the DS doesn't have a limit on sample memory.. the problem is, a song like Mako Reactor wouldn't work on the DS unless you cut out a couple channels because it uses all 16 channels, and that map has sound effects constantly playing.

  • @tssf

Sound channels wouldn't be a problem if you can cut down on sound channel usage. I dislike how the composer will often waste sound channels on drums and not use them for long durations. It will be kinda like SNES games where instruments would be cut for the incoming ones like Plok which only used around 5 sound channels. The only main problem with songs would be ram usages. It HAVE to be shared with the game and uncompressed samples can take up lots of space.

  • i wish they remade ff7 to the ds.

  • WTF? When I click the link, it gives me this "Forbidden" shit. What happened?

  • @THECRAZEBLING my provider disabled outside viewing of web folders. You'll have to go from the main Remakes folder (take the rest of the url out) and then navigate to it from there. Sorry about that.

  • @tssf

Your provider?! Why did he disable outside viewing of web folders? WHY? WHY!? WHYYYYY?!

  • @THECRAZEBLING Dude calm down, it's all good. Simply go to the main site and go to the music section, there's a way to get to the Remake folders via a link there.

  • @tssf

I got 2 more questions for you... Why is my precious rocket ship drifting off into deep space?! Why am I reaching you at the coordinates of the Abandoned Space Station?! WHY? WHY?! WHYYYYY?!

  • this would give people a reason to use those lame memory expansion cards that came with Opera Web Browser DS

If the Dsi Wasnt already out, they could have made it to save on the gba expansion & have multiple DS cards for the game

  • I want to see more than just music. (Ha, I saw music, eh? Worded that wrong.)

  • Except for the fact it's illegal to use the PSP to play anthing but PSP and PS games? Seriously, the reason for this video is not to simulate a PS game on DS, the point was to show that the DS is capable of a FF7 remake.

  • I unfortunately knew you were this kind of user. but, needed proof. thanks for providing it. :)

  • @ExiliousX Because, It's emulation. It may be constantly improved, but it's not going to play anything like the original. The lack of a touchscreen makes it damned near impossible to play certain games.

  • It's not because it's emulation. It's because DS has a 67mhz processor & only 4mb of memory. (compared to PSP 333mhz processor 64mb of memory.

No matter how good your software is, it can laways be held back by the hardware.

So while the DS actually has better basic technical specs than the original PS1 (33mhz, 2mb RAM) the taxation required to emulate excedes the DS's capabilities.

  • You've missed the point.

  • Now that is possible

  • If there were ever a FFVII remake for the DS I wonder if it will come in the form of two game cards like the discs. But man thanks for uploading this, now I know we´re not chasing a dream.

  • It couldnt be on two cartridges,it saves to the cartridge itself.

  • That's really neat!

  • you are a godamn genius

  • FF7 DS WOULD be pretty great, but in my opinion, it was the weakest of the PS FFs.

  • Oh God, I'm shocked that the FF7 super fans haven't voted your comment into oblivion, lol. This is truely an awesome sight and sound to behold.

  • Probably a lame knock off. Do not get it!

Please wait until it is official.

  • @stabslice How so? Unfortunately, 7 is the only one I've ever beaten in the main series of the Final Fantasy games.

  • if square-enix doesn't make this game we will somehow!

  • @chocobodude987

just make sure that the person who tries to do it doesn't tell anybody about it or else

we'll just have another chrono trigger 3D remake on our hands (getting a cease and desist from Square Enix and their legalese speaking Lawyers)

  • wait is this only the music file? if it is then how do you know that the ds is capable of playing the game and not just the music?

  • Because this music file was playing with 3D models (as seen from the first screen shot) battling each other from Ficedula's FF7 engine, using optimized FF7 models that he ripped and optimized himself for use on the NDS. All of it was playing fine.

  • the ds can emulate the SNES tho cause uhhh chrono trigger was from SNES now its on ds and rayman was on PS1 now its on ds too

  • The Nintendo DS version of Chrono Trigger is not emulating the SNES version. The only reason they sound the same is because the music was recreated properly.

  • Too bad, it would be nice that the DS were enough powerful to emulate psx or N64...

  • The DS IS powerful enough to play PSX and N64 games. Have you seen the cutscenes on FFXII: Revenant Wings? That game is amazing.

  • FF7 on the DS would be a great thing... but I really hope they remake FF6 in 3d first (like IV)

  • yeah i wait for that moment too, i really like FF7 from the 3D Final Fantasy Series, but the owning in 2D ones for me was FF6 xD it was something amazing and i really wish to see that on DS ;] also FF5 on DS would be super cause i like that too, those are my Favorite FF games ;D FF6 then FF7 equal with FF5 ^_^

  • @Wiggymaster Technically, FF7 could legally be on the DS, considering Square-Enix has exclusive rights to the FF franchise. Sony would put up a fit though.

  • Lol you're really confused if you think FF7's coming out for DS.

No this was a demo of an FF7 song playing through a sound system that works on DS.

  • Ahhhh i see LOL. xDD

thanks for clearing y head o.0 lol

  • So seriously, nobody bothers to read the titles of videos anymore?

  • My bad lol, I thought the DS in the title screen stood for the nintendo DS. So I thought that the FF7 was coming out for the DS. Sorry for being so ignorant T.T

  • where did the ff7 3d demo come from?

  • Search up Ficedula's NDS development demos and you'll find them.

  • ty ^^

  • i searched for it but i cant find it :/

  • nvrmnd ^^;;

  • You know, I thought it was the most leet thing ever to get homebrew SNES and other emulators to run on a PSP. You know, Nintendo titles on a Sony console.

And now come to find out the DS can run the EPSXE... making the vise versa true. It's a good time to be a gamer. ^_^

  • The DS can't run ePSXe. I just used ePSXe on PC as a tool to help me remake this song perfectly. :)

  • Ah... I get you. And that would be my noobish mistake for the week. But it's just Tuesday, so we'll see.

Anyway, 'perfectly' is a good word to use in such an occasion. Another wonderful job.

    *offers many props*

  • Well, the DS's sound system is on par with the PSX's, so it doesn't surprise me that the sound quality is roughly the same.

  • The PSX had 24 channels, the DS only has 16. The PSX has on-board DSP effects, DS doesn't.

The PSX has something like 512k of memory to work with, the DS only has as much memory as you're willing to allocate to it within it's 2 to 4 meg limit.

So, the DS isn't as powerful as the PSX's sound system, but it is fairly close in terms of what it can do.

  • I think in FF7, the PSX only uses 16 sound channels for the music, the rest are used for sounds effects and whatnot.

  • Very observant. That's exactly correct.

Imagine my sadness when I remade Mako Reactor which used all 16 channels, and Ff7 used channel 17 for that low "hum" sound, and the rest for the rest of the sound effects. If it played on DS which only contains 16 channels, then when sound effects played, a LOT of instruments would be cut out :(
