  • Great tips!!! Thanks for sharing. This is awesome. Super simple, and super effective. Just the way I like it

  • Hey, thanks for the tips.

How do you record / export the track when you have two DAWs running? If you export from Ableton, does it also grab the audio coming from your Maschine plug track?

  • @MrPoonmoon It's not two DAWs, it's Maschine running as a plugin inside Live. So when you do an export, yes it will grab all the audio coming form the Maschine plugin.

  • Man, nice tutorial. It will definitely improve my workflow. Thank you. I realized you are using a pc and i'm to but have this weird lag when I hit the pads on maschine running as a vst inside live. Do you know how can i get ride of that?

  • @eskimurtigas It's likely to be the way Maschine is routed? I found that if I have Maschine as a VST on track-1 and use track-2 to listen and send midi data for Maschine (i.e. use Ableton as the only sequencer) you get lag. It also lags more with lots of tracks, the lag is hardly noticable with just two tracks (the Maschine plug on trk 1 and the midi on trk 2).

What is cool about this vid is that you can eliminate that lag by keeping maschine as the sequencer for the maschine parts.

  • great video but whats the point of using ableton tho? becuase it seems like your still running everything through the maschine and almost just repeating the same thing on ableton?

  • @guitarpacifier1 The reason you use ableton is if you need features that ableton has that aren't available in machine. Personally, I usually just use the maschine for drums and other one-shot samples, and do all my midi, synth and audio recording in ableton, because it has better editing and mixing capabilities. Though if you don't need ableton for what you want to do, don't use it, keeping your setup a simple as possible is always best.

  • @MegatroidMusic I was wondering if you could possibly send me a txt format of this setup in maschine, just got and I really feel like the way you have everything structured. I just got maashine and my projects seem to get out of hand. email me at itsdezz@yahoo.com...thanks in adavance

  • @MegatroidMusic thanks allot for that, did you have a tutorial or can tell me how to sequence maschine in ableton as a sampler, so that the scenes sinc up?? Thanks!

  • @MegatroidMusic ah okay thanks allot, would you by chance have a tutorial or can tell me how to set up the plug in so that all the scenes sinc up. what about for instance using it directly as midi notes. wouldnt that give you more control?

  • I really cant say it enough... this is a simple video- ..but this was a MAJOR eye opener for my workflow, And its actually very quick and Extremely tidy.

Ive been struggling (everyday) in the studio for the past 6-8months trying to incorporate maschine into my production.. I gave up a few times / picked it back up a few times (rearranging my whole library aswell...lots of work) Your video is definitely 1 of the big nails in the coffin to my commitment with maschine:)

  • ....now all we need is proper MONO resampling (all DAWs) ....no special tricks how to do it.....no extra steps (plugins) ...If its Mono, I want it to stay mono until "I" decide other wise. just thought id right that, my only serious gripe with working ITB

  • @Judeastonez Good to hear it helped, cheers!

  • Very useful video man ....thx for taking the time to make it.

  • just got my hands on machine and these are very useful tips, thanks for sharing!

  • What is your process if you want to change the arrangement once you've got everything all sync'd? Is it a big hassle? Overall I really like this workflow but wonder how locked into an arrangement one becomes...

  • @dolomick Yeah man it's not hard to change around, you can change the order of your scenes in Machine easily enough. And just to clarify, why you see here is how I end up after I've finished arranging and I'm getting into the mix stage. While I'm still working out the structure or developing ideas it will be a lot less organized, starting with just a couple of scenes/loops.

  • thanks man this is very useful...

  • Wow, good job! I'm very impressed at how much detail you have gone into. Thanks kindly for sharing, you have unlocked the battle a few of us were having. MAJOR PROPS! have you made a template to share yet? Much respect, keep belting out the phat tunes!

  • @peebeebz Thanks man, really glad people are finding it so useful. I have the template nearly done, it consists of an Ableton Set, a remote script, and a Maschine template. I'm pretty excited about it, it's got some features that I haven't seen anywhere else, and it's all designed around a workflow. I just need to find some time to make a video to explain it all.

  • @peebeebz The template is finally up! Check the description on this video.

  • I just got Live and Maschine and these tips are exactly what I needed - thanks!!!

  • Thanks for sharing

  • Hey, very cool...you used your head and creativity. It would be great if you had a template you could make available of this Live Set. Could you PM me and maybe make this template available so I could setup Live like this too?

    Thanks!

  • @CW2SCOGG hey man, I'm in the process of putting together a Live Set and Maschine template. So keep an eye out, it should be up in the next week or so.

  • nice vid bro thanks for this..

  • Nice!, My ableton and maschine workflow sucked, i was doing drag and drop of midi pattens and that sucked trying to arrange the way it output them into the tracks....ill give it a spin though before i totally dump my current workflow

  • nice vid. thanks for sharing. i dont have maschine yet, but after playing with one its next on my list.
