It is underrated, but their best album? I guess if you like the noisy hard to listen to at times Sonic sound then yeah. To me it's just too inaccessible. There are some great tracks, but it's not something I could put in at any time and enjoy listening to. Daydream and Sister on the other hand are by far, in my opinion, they're best albums.

I thought Goo was a great album. alot of people say it's too "mainstream" sounding and stuff but personally i love Goo. and what about Evol? thats a good album.

Have you ever heard Sonic Youth? Doesn't seem like it... they have many different records, you know. They're all different. They'll go through phases of exploring different kinds of sounds, but you describe them as though they were real monolithic or something.

Sonic Youth, plays too fast? Naaaaaa.I like the frenetic feel though, wild abandon ha ha riiiiight. Music to me is open to any interpretation and self exploration is a good one . Yes, Sonic Youth does make music, good music.

what exactly is it that you need help with? I'm guessing that if your dad has an opinion on SY, you're pretty young, but apparently you know how to use a pc, so why not just check out some of their music for yourself? My faves are the older "Sister" and "EVOL" but "Goo" and "Dirty" are great records too. SY is unlike anything out there today, or ever, they make really, really great music in an age in which music is supposed to be trite and irrelevant

no, i think a lot of there feedback reminds me of jamc, psychocandy, also quite a lot of newage psychadelic stuff in there. like if you listen to across the universe or somthing i can hear a resemblence to that and somthing like honey. plus there stage presence is def jamc

How about they play all different kinds of music that is fast and slow and everything in between? Your dad probably has the same understanding as you do: just listen to one song and make a sweeping judgment about the entire band that is really stunted.
