We all know the bird eating the pastries and such was a metaphor for how our parents and soon us would be trying to cope with just how crazy the world is once you hit 18 and you are on your own. I was 16 when I first heard this and remember thinking "youth is wasted on the young" I am almost 30 now and it's gotten even crazier.
