Thank you for sharing so many things about yourself. You have a very sweet kindness in the way you speak. It's helping me understand myself too. I was recently diagnosed with Aspergers. I didn't know there was such a thing until a few months ago. I have much the same conditions, eye contact, social anxiety, many others. Seems like you are doing great.
Compare your first video post to the newest one and you';; see how far you have come, congratulations sweetie..... keep it going JCC
I have recently been diagnosed with traits of aspergers and traits ofdsypraxia and I can totally see where you are coming from. Making an appointment is really hard. Its like sometimes I have to feel the fear and phone up and really talk myself into making an appointment. Even as a kid I never felt comfortable seeing a doctor. Its like Im aware that I have this fear but try to act like Im not afraid. Using a phone is difficult because I often can't say things the way I would like too.
One thing I forgot to mention: physical contact is also difficult for many with AS, and that's what happens at the doctor, which can be a combination of humiliating, embarrassing and exhausting. To this day I strongly dislike the stethoscope and touching the sides of my neck if I have a sore throat... if the doctor is unaware of physical touches being a tough thing with us Aspies, many doctors get pushy and irritated. "Come on, I've got other patients!" which only makes it worse..
I'm a girl with AS as well (my video is in the line there --> ) , and I recognise myself in what you say about making the appointment, waiting, communicating with the doctor when/if I'm stressed out and answering the many questions. My current doctor knows about Asperger syndrome and is very patient with me, so I am not that nervous about going to the doctor anymore.
A kinesiologist helped me and changed my life; I did not really have to speak about the problems because that kind of doctor simply tested my bodily equilibrium by asking my body instead of verbal responce!
write down everything you have to say, thats the way i do it, cuz in the social situation i just cant explain properly, like i cant remember what to say exacly
so i writed everything down about myself and whats bothers me
I hate talking on the phone unless the other person does all the talking and leads the conversatino so I only have to say things like 'yes' and no lol. Also, I have exactly the same problem with doctors. I've been going consistently for so long for various issues and I'm still not used to it, it just feels alien in the GP's office to me for some reason. As if all the spotlight is on me...i completely understand where you are coming from. You're never alone.
I have Aspergers and have to see my doctors today. I can relate. I get stressed out so my blood pressure goes up so it seems like it's to high.
