@greeklady1984 I AGREE!! Id rather listen to music from the 60s-90s then the junk kids like today! Rod has the talent, songs that tell stories, and hes better looking then the young yuppies today!!!
WOW can you belive MTV was a real music channel not a sellout network?
Real bands and musicians used to play on MTV (from Rod Stewart to Metallica, Dire Straits to Extreme, The Ramones to Queen, Pink Floyd to Led Zeppelin...), now it's all about the money, you can even rarely listen to music on MTV (and when you do it's still crap like those reality shows)... Those guys turned into posers.
Kick the sellouts, bring back good old ROCK AND ROLL and good old MTV.
Rod is a star. as Bryan Adams, Ray Charles, Boyzllmen-Aretha franklin-Micheal Jackson.... Fuck Bieber and .....Pure shit, I hope my kids (now 5 and 2 months) listen to this rather than the 2010's bullcrap. This song was number one 1 year before my birth. Cool
Hard to forget the fact that in 1985 Rod Stewart played 10 shows @ Sun City.
At the time Sun City was a resort conceived & built as a propaganda exercise by the apartheid regime of South Africa.
What Sun City needed next was international fame. If regime could attract international icons they'd demonstrate that their rule was "ok".
UN had already issued a cultural boycott, and would thus black list anyone who defied it. Many artists were approached...Rod Stewart was one of the few who agreed.
...MTV played this song to death....it was on high rotation....it was on like every hour.....so many memories come back when I hear this....a great time for MTV......
Awesome song and awesome vid! This is back when music and videos were clever and the artists had creativity not like the crap of today. Long live the 80's!!!
My dad used to listen to this song and other great ones on his Sony tapedeck, when I was a child. I remember trying to find the same casette all the time. When I did, I put a mark on it, so next time all I had to do just pop it in when my dad wasn't around. He was really miffed if someone else played with his Sony for what he paid a fortune back then. It wasn't easy to operate a HiFi System when you are only 4 yrs old...
that is to funny! Love the genius idea of putting a mark on things you're too young to read. I ruined many many vinyl LPs that older brother had and I couldn't afford as an 8 yr old.
This is certainly one the best songs of the '80s - the video can certainly lay claim to be among the top five! This one and Bowie's China Girl defined 1983 for me. Thanks for posting :-)
for me im 14 urs old i love old songs the new songs are just not the same thing and the older singers that still sing when they have a consert its full (eg the scorpions) and the new singer's songs are lesened to like fo 3 mouths then every one forgets it but the older songs are lesened to every week or even day.... i love clasic songs and i will always do
this has got to be the best song EVER!! it reminds me of my dad when i was younge and he use to play it all the time, i just wish i could bring back the old days...LOVE YOU DAD
one of my favorite singer, and why this song always related to world cup 1986 in Mexico? because i always listen to this song while I am waiting for live game at the television. thanks rod, come on marry to someone again!!! it always nice for the new news
I am so from the wrong generation- in a musical sense. And I have friends who told me that (with the kind of music I like) I should have grown up in the 80s. And I agree with them about that.
I was 12 when this song came out, and so did my love affair with the music of the 80's. People where I lived thought I was a bit weird because I listened to "white" music! I loved it then, and I still love it now! Henrietta, Cape Town, South Africa
@eightiesguy62 I'm SO glad there's other people out there that loves that era as much as I do. A young guy on the bus wondered out loud the other day who Gary Moore was, and I couldn't help but think what these youngsters missed out on :o( , but we didn't :o) !!

@MrRockoRaccoon I used to watch MTV when it first came out and I had to wait 2 hours for one Michael Jackson video. I spent the time watching Euro-trash. Maybe they should have called it ETTV back then.
@Sassie917 ??? Point is: if MTV now promote Afro-American music, their audience should be balcks in Africa or Amerika, not whites in Europe or America. just dont know how much money they will earn from blacks
@Sassie917 I consider black musical direction if 90% of bands are black, like it is in hip-hop. Your ear can hear differences between hip hop and country (for example). That is because first has its roots in Africa second in Europe. Since it is not originaly African, but made in America by blacks, that why you can call it Afro-American music. @chill2love10 I see what you saying. Also,I've read that Michael really didn't break down the barriers of other black artists to be on MTV. They said that it was Prince.
Mtv was accused of rascism because at one time they refused to play any music by black artists. The excuse was that they didn't play r&b, soul or anything along those lines. Mtv said that it played rock. Black artists responded that it should then be called rock music tv because music television denotes that they play all kinds of music. Mtv continued to resist until a certain moonwalking performer came along and the pressure to play his music was just to great.
@chill2love10 I disagree with you. MTV wasn't rascist. Sure they didn't play Kool & The Gang,Earth Wind & Fire and Smokey Robinson but at least you had Tina Turner,Prince,Musical Youth and Eddy Grant before Michael Jackson came along with Billie Jean.
i didnt know who sang this but i heard it on the radio n ever since i been wanting to find out, n i just saw it on a music channel on the tv n i found it! finally, see i wasnt born in the 80s n all tht, unfortunately i might add, was a good 10 years for music and film but this is a great tune.
esto era música los excesos en el vestir las combinaciones el clásico saxofon que casi lo sacaban siempre a relucir de una super manera que padre epoca.
