@Machiavelli1513 USA and EU countries should improve their education systems, China does something like 70 days more schooling a year than USA and 59 more than the UK (those figures might be a little out I cannot remember the actual figures off the top of my head) It may not be the standards of schooling, but those considerable longer school years would have a impact. We should just steal the schooling systems from South Korea :) they seem to work very well.

I can say that some aspects of chinese society are not as well as people expected, but the fact is you can never apply the USA's way of success to a country which has 1.3billion people. @Machiavelli1513 USA and EU countries should improve their education systems, China does something like 70 days more schooling a year than USA and 59 more than the UK (those figures might be a little out I cannot remember the actual figures off the top of my head) It may not be the standards of schooling, but those considerable longer school years would have a impact. We should just steal the schooling systems from South Korea :) they seem to work very well.

They discriminate against the local people. They came to Vietnam by millions in search for food and refuge from persecution in China, but they hate the Vietnamese, calling them monkeys & chimpanzees. Why is China in territorial disputes with all of its neighboring countries? from land disputes with Russia and India to sea disputes with Japan, Vietnam, the Philippines, etc. China basis for all its claims is based on ANCIENT TIME visits to the disputed areas. China knows that it has no legal standing in front of International Court. Therefore, China “opposes the internationalization of the issue.”

@HE006 Remember this, arrogant chinks. Fact #1: China become wealthy today because the US allowed it to trade with the US in hope that China would split from communist Russia and become a democracy. Fact #2: China's economy is very dependent on US because US is 95% of China's market. China's economy will crumble if the US choose to pursue predatory instead of current benign monetary/ trade policies towards China. Just raise tariffs, make Chinese goods more expensive. China = paper tiger.

If that happens, according to the New York Times, the big department chains, such as Walmart, will running out stock within a week. Then Americans will pay much higher prices for the remianing Chinese stocks. Better yet, internet, cell phone may got shut down two or three weeks after that because all the PC related products, cell phone are made in China, LOL!

Well that's what people said about fencing back in the 80's but it's still only 1 vs 1, I haven't seen anyone create a system where you can vs more than one person in fencing and the machine keeps track of the score would be nice though because laser tag can certainly handle more players than fencing.

The moral of the story is, you need not exploit others by breaking their rice bowl for your own financial gain and well being. Chinese wisdom of constructing a sustainable economy will form the basis for future world economies esp the developing ones based on mutual gain and respect.. America, well, can stay reassured as the No.1 economy for a long time to come unless she continues to squander it on military hardwares or let her addiction to wars left untreated.

While the West declines (and it is in decline) the East will rise. When the West was rising the three main civilizations of the time ie China, India and the Islamic civilizations were in decline. The reverse is now quite clearly observable. By the middle of this century the world will be a very different place. My we live in interesting times....

Can you elaborate ? Because the matter is complex. At present Africans lack two key factors China has:1.patriotic,qualified and good leadership 2. close to zero influence on its policy by hostile external players like world bank,IMF,USA,France and England. You should remember that all successful Asian countries like China,India and Malaysia advanced policies for decades that were the opposite to those suggested by the West and international institutions under their control like IMF.

We should also remember that in the last decades the West did not sat with folded arms and watched China develop.It tried to sabotage that development like in 1989,in 2008 and in many other times by trying to destabilize the country using Tibet,Taiwan,Hong Kong,Falun Gong etc. But China had a good leadership that frustrated all those efforts so far. So,have Africans such good leadership to frustrate similar efforts by the West ? It is so easy for West to destabilize African countries !

Japan hasn't been the most peaceful of people... Nor is North Korea or the History of China. Mao was a very violent man fighting several wars with several neighbors. It is the human condition to be violent... not just an American or "Western" condition. I also don't agree with the Iraq war. Afghanistan was a justifiable war. No war should be fought into perpetuity which is another problem. Just War Theory is another "Western" invention which addresses many of the problems with war.

@dearrebata I agree totally. USA spends about $700 billion a year on military. They could use that money to improve their health care system instead. When the chinese go into Africa to buy oil (for example), they offer to build roads and railroads and improve infrastructure of those countries. Meanwhile, americans send their military to bully. It is very interesting if you compre to Gordon Chang book on "The Coming Collapse of China" which he wrote in 2002 prdicted China will collapse in 2006.Well, Gordon has obviously been very disappointed that this did not happen but on the contrary China lead the World in 2009 in Economic Recovery.

I am take chinese history in America as a chinese student. I can say that some aspects of chinese society are not as well as people expected, but the fact is you can never apply the USA's way of success to a country which has 1.3billion people. It is reasonable that CCP exists, otherwise, I am not able to go to a college in America. At least, this party benefit bunches of chinese people like me.
