the service is free, only cost involved would be any data used. I have an unlimited data plan with my phone, so it's no cost at all for me.

What do you mean? It shows the internet symbol at the top of the W580i screen and takes forever to load. And yes you do need Internet because when it loads the information it's in internet page form. (as in cell phone internet)

the point it to ID the song. The sound recorder could record a snipet of a song. And you could use that as your ringer.

I didn't have to set anything up. It worked out of the box. TrackID uses data so I guess if you have data (internet) turned off on your plan then it wouldn't work.

How did you change the light color from green to blue. I have this phone from at&t and I can't find out how.

I downloaded a number of themes from a couple of websites that came with different lighting. I still had a problem with the phone defaulting back to the green. I have since debranded my phone and no longer have that problem.

Way to go AT&T with providing consumers with a buggy product.

can u only use track id when using the inbuilt radio? can u not use it say when wacthing a video and theres a song played over the video to find out the song?

Nope, You can use it with an external audio source too. Just hold it up near the speaker and start the service.
