No way! Its based off a book that attempts to explain a deeper connection between the books, which ultimately lends them more meaning. Very pro Clives Staples Lewis.
I am a Lewis and Narnia admirer (studied both at Oxford), but I have a great hesitancy toward "conspiracy theories." I will reading Ward's book with a skeptical eye.
First and foremost he represented Jesus, which is why it's said that the first book, LWW, represents Jupiter. Jupiter, king of the "wandering stars" (the literal translation of the word "planet"), is the Star of Bethlehem described in Matthew 2.
i enjoyed the documentary, thought it was well put together, beautifully filmed. To me it was seeking to set the scene and the background to the whole idea of the code.
Without a doubt, the WORST documentary I've ever seen in my life! All those concerned should hang their heads in shame. Two minutes on the "planet" theory and x hours of totally unnecessary, background-building, scene-setting P-A-D-D-I-N-G !!!
I liked the last 10-15 minutes of the prog., very much, where it seemed to tie things up more in explanation, and it began to make sense, with the understanding that Lewis really felt God inhabits the whole cosmos and loved Psalm 19, with a sense of wonder, which was coming into my mind from that last 10 minutes
if you look hard enough, you can find anything in such a vast body of text. cf Nostradamus, Shakespeare et al, and the claims that have been made for 'hidden meanings' and patterns within an apparent sub-text. Jury's still out for me.

I thought we weren't to see the theme as a "code" to be cracked but rather a lense through which to read the books?

Pog, you should read the book. The evidence is staggering. It's not just a perceived pattern.

Just read the book Planet Narnia. The "code" is that each book was based on the character of one of the seven medieval planets.

Is this going to be like The Divinchi Code? If he taints Narnia, I am going to be pissed!!!

Don't worry--Ward writes from a distinctively Christ-centered worldview. No mass conspiracy theories or anything.

It's not a conspiracy theory, it's a literary framework.
