  • Yukichan's little sister Marshmallow did it again, she won her first race as a 3 year old; the 6th race at Kyoto Racecourse on Jan. 22, 2012, again at 1400 meters (about 7f) on the dirt (sand really), but this her time was faster than in her debut win, 1:24.6 verses 1:26.4. Her record is now 3-2-0-0; 2 wins and 1 fifth place out of 3 races (her second race was on Dec. 24, 2011 at 1700 meters).

  • She is so beautiful! Please don't wreak her with racing. Please don't jack her up with steroids and amphetamines. Please don't race her till she "breaks down". Please don't let her sit in a back field getting skinny when she no longer wins. Please take good care of her, she is rare. She beat the odds with genetics, she beat the odds with life, please let her beat the odds at racing and live to see her glory years.

  • @MsFlowP Yukichan was retired in October 2010. She is now a broodmare at Northern Farm in Hokkaido, Japan where she was born. Northern Farm is one of the best operations in Japan, and Yukichan is very well bred, if all went well she should be having her first foal this year (2012), reportedly by top sire King Kamehameha. Yukichan's dam Shiyayukihime's 2011 foal was by King Kamehameha, and it is another white filly!

  • Races horses like gunbow champion racehorse sold to Japan 1974. And you guessed it, magically disappeared to the slaughter house. Now, gunbow's "rival" Kelso who was a gelding (probably the only time a horse was lucky to be gelded) retired to southern California with fan mail and everything. Gunbow was popular too. But the Japanise have NO respect for equine athletes. They would have put secretariat in a stew pot, if he would have gone to the Japanese.

  • Ferdinand who won the 1986 KY derby and who's great grand dad was secretariat was sent to slaughter like a common cow. He was not sick or injured, he just did not make more winners.

  • You all realize he is in Japan right? They kill racing thoroughbreds there and eat them. There was a Kentucky derby winner I think it was sent to the slaughter house. But yea in Japan if a horse doesn't "produce" they don't retire them or give people here in the US a chance to buy them back. They go to a Japanise slaughter house. People are trying to get Charismatic back now so he don't end up in the slaughter house.

  • she's beautiful, may she live a long and spoiled life

  • Perfect name for her :o)

    She is stunning!!

  • @KAGU143 It's actually impossible for horses to carry albino's. I can't remember the genetic code for it, but it's there. There's genetic testing, and there has never been an instance-in recorded history of the tests-of a horse having the mutation.

  • One thing for sure is that she CAN run ! :D

  • Gorgeous!

  • hey, she looks really really willing! Beautiful horse, thank you for sharing!

  • Yes, she is a true white. : ) Quite pretty!

  • What an amazing mare!

  • man she's impressive! and the ability to win on BOTH surfaces!! I know there's a new filly in the USA, she starts w/ a P, but I dont remember her name, she is one of the only 130 registered white TB's. she's a 2yo I think!

  • people...just accept the fact shes white and get on with your lives :)

  • i bet the breeders were so thrilled when this one was born!!!

  • She's gorgeous!!! I almost asked if she was Cremello until I saw her eyes! Still gorgeous!

  • Albino horses r real lmao look it up.

  • @jumpermarkie It's true there is a dominant gene for true whites, but, it's rare.

There's also something called Lethal White Syndrome. This is usually found in frame Overo horses, which is why breeders of Overo paints must be careful. Foals born with this syndrome are usually white with blue eyes but, usually die within 72 hours of birth from colic as they are born with a nonfunctional colon. There's no known case of a true albino horse, as albinos of any species usually have red shaded eyes.

  • @KAGU143 There are exactly zero reports of an albino horse. Ever. Not a single one. So no, currently, there is no such thing as an albino horse.

  • Is...Yukichan toothless? o.O

  • sunday silence really he was like black how'd he get to japan? shes beautiful she good?

  • he's right from heaven. i wish they would outlaw bits. i wonder if the other horseys let him win since he's so special!

  • @greatbigbubby What's wrong with bits? There's nothing wrong with bits.

  • he's right from heaven. i wish they would outlaw bits.

  • i dont own a white thoroughbred but i own a jet black one :)

  • We had a white horse win her maiden a few weeks ago in Australia. The Opera House , was purchased at the Magin Millions yearling sale for $270,000 , is a 3 quarter sister to champion Australian galloper Might and Power and she's white as snow.

  • Yukichan is a dominant white horse. Her dame, Shiroyukihime is also white, as is her full brother White Vessel the first white horse to win a Japan Racing Association race, but Yukichan as been by far the most successful. Yukichan was retired in December 2010 and is now a broodmare at Northern Farm, Hokkaido, northern Japan, the birthplace of the great Deep Impact.

  • Like Thunderhead.Did he break a record for speed yet?

  • She is beautiful!!!! Know imagine her as a arabian!!! That would be perfect!!!

  • she looks albino more then white

  • @jumpermarkie No such thing as an albino horse.

  • @Jailbirdx if he is not white or albino what colour is he then? he isnt grey

  • SUNDAY SILENCE WAS A BLACK HORSE WITH A BLAZE, BUT SHE LOOKS IDENTICAL TO HIM LOL.

  • they've kept her clean!! :)

  • Ahh, really really stunning little filly!

  • i have a white thorougbred hes pretty an ex racehorse we rescued him

  • she sticks out like a sore thumb with all the bays and blacks

  • @KAGU143

Have you ever seen a red/pink-eyed horse that is 'white'?

I surely haven't. I'm pretty sure its genetically impossible for horses to carry albino. Its often confused with greys, cremellos, perlinos, cremes and light paints with blue, brown or gold eyes.

  • Wow i love the video what is the song called?

  • Does anyone know the genetics of a white horse? I have been researching genetics a bit on my own time, and can't find anything on "white" horses. At first I thought it was maybe a pearl/heterozygous cream, but I really don't know, XD

This horse(all white thoroughbreds...) are so amazing and a sight to behold :)

Glad to hear she can run! :D

  • grat horse!!!!!!!!!

  • Wow, she really stands out! Definitely a sight to behold.

  • The horse is white.

    NOT grey...

  • To all those thinking that this is a grey/Sabino/Dilute horse, please note the following: 1) her points are PINK. This rules out grey, which would have dark points. 2) Brown eyes. Not blue, as they would be in the case of max Sabino or Cremello. She is a white horse. If you think there is no such thing, please go research horse genetics. :)

  • @KamaYukineko H,i I have a pure white horse too. born white ..pink skin and black eyes .I live in New Zealand .

  • @KamaYukineko The color of the points doesn't matter - it's the color of the skin that does. A horse with a chestnut base will not gray out with black points, for instance. Maximum sabinos do not always have blue eyes... In fact, they very often do not. Cremello would not be as ultra pure white as this mare.

She is definitely dominant white. Her dam had six foals, five are pure white. She will likely have white foals herself.

  • @Jailbirdx Your point is the same as mine... lol? By points, I suppose I was a little vague. I meant her nose and eyes. I have yet to meet a grey (chestnut or black- based) that had a PINK nose. I've seen white noses and dark noses, but never a PINK one on a Grey. Also, I have never had the courtesy of meeting a max sabino/etc. that did not have blue eyes. And I continue to state: she is dominant white, in case you missed it the first time.

  • @KamaYukineko You are so right!! I dont know why its so hard to understand. There are NO ALBINOS in horses!! She is not albino, she is a dominant white. They are out there, they exist. There is a genetic test for it, and they come back Ww (heterozygous) since white is lethal in the homozygous form like frame overo is. Anyway, that aside, she is a stunning filly! Congratulations, I bet you are so proud of her!

  • @TheSneeakyNinjas No she's white, not grey.

  • @BlackHorse0688 Yeah it looks white the real name for white is grey! Because they have black skin so white horses are called grey. I know what I'm talking about.

  • @TheSneeakyNinjas No she really is white, not gray. She carries the dominate white gene. It's very rare, but it does happen. Yukichan is also out of another white mare named Shirayukihime. If you look at the Jockey Club's rule book, you'll find that white is a recognized color, separate from gray.

  • @ElwoodsLegacy Oh okay, what colour is her skin though?

  • @TheSneeakyNinjas Dominant white horses, like Yukichan, are born with pink skin and a white coat, which they retain throughout their lives, as well as dark eyes. Grays have dark skins. Other 'white' colors, such as cremello and perlino, differ from the dominant white in that horses born as a cremello/perlino have blue eyes

  • @ElwoodsLegacy Yeah you're right then, I assumed she had dark skin =)

  • @BlackHorse0688 maybe a very dominant white sabino, but not true pure white

  • @BlackHorse0688 You cant Have A White Horse :) Closest is flea bitten grey :)

  • @FreekyDragon96 Actually it is possible to have a white horse. If you look at an earlier comment I made I explained the Dominant White gene which is found in thoroughbreds. Plus if you look at the pictures and videos of Yukichan, you can see that the skin around her nose and eyes is pink, where as if she were a gray she'd have dark skin.

  • @ElwoodsLegacy This horse is not grey. Or white. The term is cremello, similar to albino animals.

    Stunning horse!! Definately!!

  • @FencesorFlat No she really is white. Yukichan has been DNA tested and her hair has also been examined to determine her color as white, not a sabino or a cremello. Also, cremellos have blue eyes, not brown, as Yukichan has, so cremello is ruled out.

  • @BlackHorse0688 yes the horses color is white but the normal name color is grey. no such thing as white horse 8)

  • @BlackHorse0688 a white horse is called "grey" in english, however this horse is albino.

  • @Maniamanea There is no such thing as an albino horse. A grey horse is a horse with black skin and white or grey fur. Albino is White fur, Pink skin, pink/red eyes. This mare is white. I believe she is registered as so too.

  • @BlackHorse0688 He is dominant WHITE TheSneekyNinjas if he was "grey" he would have some grey shading to him probably around his eyes, nose, knee's and such... he is BREATH TAKING!!! :D

  • @BlackHorse0688 but alas, pink skin..?

  • @TheSneeakyNinjas - Genetically she's maximum sabino, not grey.

  • @TheSneeakyNinjas - Genetically, she's maximum sabino, not grey.

  • @TheSneeakyNinjas Most 'white' horses are indeed grey, meaning they have white fur and black skin, but this horse has pink skin, making her white. (: She's gorgeous.

  • @TheSneeakyNinjas grey horses have dark skin not pink! DER!

  • @TheSneeakyNinjas he actually looks like an extreme max sabino

  • white or gray

  • Thunderhead Son of Flicka movie all over again!

  • LOL a white filly from Sunday Silence bloodlines, so ironic. lol

I`m lovin the extreme sabino though! <3

  • Who cares the color ?? Look at her RUN!! LOL!!! Thanks Bindi!!!

  • This is such a beautiful horse!! I want that horse!!

  • I want this horse!!!!

  • Oh cry me a river, Moonshine. Have you ever been around these horses up close, not just watching some SPCA publicity video? I've worked with racehorses for years, and they LOVE to run. The one thing a person can't do with a racehorse is tell it to stop!! Lol. Believe me, the only cases revealed are the cruel and terrible abuse cases with terrible handlers. More than 99% of people who work with these animals truely care for them, and put the horse's welfare before their own.

  • While there are many shades of gray there are no white horses.... :)

  • @horshooer True in a way. White is not a colour in itself, but rather a maximum expression of pinto causing the horse to be, basically, one big white spot. :-)

  • @Bindi342 LOL!! Well said!!

  • racing is cruel to the horse. it is abusing their natuaral trust for humans. these horses are started way too young and by the time their off the track, their legs are shit. horses should be honored and have a bond of trust with the rider, everything they do should be for fun, not for money. wrecking a horse like this for prizes for us is disgusting. this is a living animal and deserved to have a better life than racing then being rejected or used for her foals.

  • @twireimoonshine7 These horses LOVE running. I`ve been up close and personal with many of these guys and girls and everytime they come from the barns theyre full of energy and their ears are pricked just waiting to bring on the competition. Dont beleive me? Look at Zenyatta, she`s a testiment to what I`m saying in and of herselfe. And as for wrecking their legs if their legs are crap by the time they retire then why do many of them (yes even rescues) live soundly up into their late 20s or older?

  • @MrGlassoniongirl of course the horses love running! theyre just inocent foals, and they can feel the riders energy and excitement. that doesnt change the fact that the horses are whipped to go faster. i deff have nothing against using crops for training. but pain take the fun away from running for them. and yes lots of them retire sound many years later. those are the ones who didnt make it far becuase they werent fast enough. the real champions are run to the ground before they stop racing.

  • @twireimoonshine7 I agree with you there, crops should be banned. They don`t even make the horse go faster, in fact, it slows them down quite a bit. Now, many succeful ones retired sound. Curlin retired sound, as did Rachel Alexandra, Personal Ensign, etc. there`s too many to list and stay within the youtube letter limit. Zenyatta is still sound and will only be running one more race at the Breeder`s Cup, then off to the breeding shed and open pastures. I can provide more names if you wish.

  • @MrGlassoniongirl exactly. she is "off to the breeding shed" thats all she is!! a mare thats going to give foals that will win more money! i cant stand it. the number of horses who are carried off the track with a broken leg is too high!

  • @twireimoonshine7 She`ll be free to do as she pleases and get well cared for. She won`t be foaling hundreds of horses you know, maybe around what, 20 or so, if that. I agree, too many horses break down, and that is the result of poor breeding and the occasional misstep. Take Ruffian for example, her breeding was flooded with weak bones and breakdowns. Native dancer had bad ankles and horses today are sometimes crossed with him 3 or 4 times, resulting in breakdowns. Its in the breeding.

  • @MrGlassoniongirl If they dont end up eating her.Lets not forget Ferdinand.

  • @205seeme Or Exceller, but they were in Japan. Japan has a whole different set of rules reguarding horses unfortunately. Zenyatta has good owners, I don`t really think they would send her to slaughter.

  • @MrGlassoniongirl or in that case if they are wrecking their legs then how come many OTTBs become 3day eventers or jumpers which take a larger toll on the horse than racing does.

  • @VivaLaEquus Are you argeuing with me or defending my case? lol The first part sounds like you`re backing up what I`m saying about OTTBs ritiring sound, then the next part sounds like your argueing that they`re retiring to a worse fate.... but I do have one thing I know I want to saythat could go either way you are, that its not just OTTBs doing eventing and jumping, but also almost any other light breed. Though, regular jumping isn`t too bad on the horses legs in the lower levels.

  • @MrGlassoniongirl Oh I guess I just put that. But I was defending your case.

  • @VivaLaEquus Ok, Cool, thanx! ^.^

  • Wow. Beautiful horse. Great setting of clips to this song! I tried looking up info on this horse online, but couldn't find anything that wasn't in Japanese.

  • beautiful horse!

so sweet how the horses translated name is snowchild, or snowkid!!!! love it!!!!

  • shes gorgeous!

  • get her to the states will do her justice. a real beauty

  • Hi,

I enjoyed your post and did my first ever response footage. Thank you for accepting it. Just happened to be at the race which she won in style. In my view, her cute name appeals to the adoring fans, but doesn't do enough justice to her real beauty.

  • beautiful horse!!!

i love that song what is it?

  • Dreamer - Bethany Dillon

  • I have two rare paint mares, Titled " Rarest of the rare horse " take a look at them. Your white horse is absolutely breath taking. Beautiful horse. There is good and bad in every sport, your horse is pampered I can tell. Just beautiful, and I have race horse friends that give the sport respect. Alot of these horses love to run. So let them run I say.

  • I have a gelding welsh/ Thoroughbred who is this exact colourations, but my gelding has absolutely no spots around the eyes, they are only under his tail. My gelding is an X of almost everything, was a game racer, champion money racer, champion eventer, highly ranked dressage horse. For all this he had been abused to become a champion, he was sold to me because he would no longer work for them, he was terrified of crops(shows excessive whipping abuse) and he had many scares. He is brill now.

  • Hm. Gorgeous horse, shame that she has to be put in the cruel sport of racing.. Half of the pictures her mouth is open because of the harsh hands and bit ):

    Gorgeous mare though.

  • I must refute this claim dramatically. Obviously you're a deep horse person and in no way will I slander you. But racehorses getting treated like absolute Kings and Queens. They are far better off than some hack in the bush!

  • Oh and who sings this song? It's beautiful!

  • Yes, thank you for the respect (:

This horse does look like its treated like Kings and Queens, but three fourths of the racehorses in the world, aren't treated in this kind of way, they are treated horribly, two of my very good friends own X-racers. Both are horridly scared of the whip, and can't stand the thought of a horse passing by them.. They have scars to show their pasts, and most X-racers are like this.

  • Continued comment:

Half of the current racers are many pounds beneath the healthy weight... doesn't this point to something? Abuse in my opinion.

    One more thing,

my friends X-racers are far happier hacking around in the woods, than running their lungs off for peoples entertainment. (:

  • she looks like a qh not a tb

  • all that inbreeding in the thoroughbreds...not surprising that they created an ALMOST ALBINO horse.....cute...

  • It's not because she is inbred, which is called line breeding in the horse breeding world. Plus if you look up her pedigree, she only has two of the same horses in it., which isn't bad. She inherited her mother's colour gene, which is the sabino gene. It's simple genetics.

  • Ive never seen a white thoroughbred before! She's beautiful and really stands out!

  • Seems to me like it is a possible DW.

  • Shes Maximum Sabino

  • Oh I just adore her...... she's such a champion!! Go Yuki :DD

  • whats the sonhg

  • So pretty ^.^ Ganbatte, Yuki-chan! =)

  • Very beautiful of corse, I ride on white Lipizzan horses they are also beautiful like Yuki-chan ^u^ The rider is just fabulous, I think the owner named her Yuki because it means snow in japanese, (I'm japanese) ^u^

  • Lipizzan horses aren't white; they're grey. ;3 Some do grey out to appear white, but while Yukichan's genotype and phenotype are both "white," Lipizzans have a phenotype that is sometimes "white," but a genotype that is grey. They're born dark, and "grey out" to a lighter color; their skin is dark. True "white" horses have pink skin.

But yes, Yukichan is a very pretty horse. <3

  • Yes they look white but they are grey :) I'm not really familiar to true white horses that has pink skin with blue eyes their rare to me :) Yuki-chan is so cute

  • very pretty horse

  • very pretty horse, i have never seen a 'white' throughbred, i also loved sunday silence

  • Love the maximal sabinos.

  • wow shes fabulous!

  • quelle est belle !!! :O

  • wow...she's beautiful.. and the way she run she look's like her damsire SUNDAY SILENCE...GO YUKICHAN!!!!!

  • I know what u mean she so...........i just dont have the words for it :)got i wish we had a TB like that i mean did you see her run!!!!I have never seen a filly like her run and leave and herd like that init !!!!!God she so cool!
