these people are very good visual effects artist! but doesnt know anything about physics and structural engineering.buildings wont collapse that way during earthquakes.
It's stupid how people are saying that the CGI thing should just die. CGI is what makes movies. Seriously, Do you want an actual city or building to collapse? CGI stays, bitches.
these videos suck, they dont go in-depth enough. they just show the animations. i want to see them putting everything together, building the models, show the software!
@TheParkourDrummer not interested in getting in a fight on here, but if you're even close to as smart as you claim you'd notice that I'm not old enough to have taken anything other than Algebra 1 (which I'm taking). I make about $30,000 a year (not bad for my age) doing VFX on independent films. My family's worth well over 3,000,000 so I'm in no respect poor. I responded because i was tired of hopeless idiots demanding tutorials on things like this.
@filmkorn I didn't say ALL of the effects, but for example I know they did Laserbreak in the latest one. My point was that they contributed which makes them completely qualified to add it to their reel. Hence why there is one in the background.
@death18012 Ok, i misunderstood. I thought you were saying that they did all effects. Digital Domains work on Tron Legacy and Benjamin Button was pretty remarkable too.
I'd love to give some visionary filmmmakers from the early 20th century a trip to now and see them gawk at this amazingness. They just wouldn't believe it.
precutting was made with Rayfire tool. Physics is made with Thinking Particles. Renderer Engine was Final Render without Global Illumination but a new skylight model. You can do this at home with some youtube tutorials (and a very lot of time).
@BMAnnArbor No racism intended, I spent a few minuets listening too a my Asian friend talk about dynamics and I've learned soooo many tips that I use now lol
@SkullTwisterX I've been working on repackaging Bullet for blender and also improving the current fracture and demolition systems. I've been working on the SPH system a lot lately, and the dynamics of a good fluid simulator are really complex.
@BMAnnArbor repackaging Bullet dang... Must be a pain. What pys engine does Blender use? I've only really done dynamics in Maya soo. I know 3ds Max uses Havoc but idk what Maya uses
@SkullTwisterX So true. I'd like the ability to basically bake the rigid body physics instead of having to try and play them in real time. Breakable compound shapes would be really awesome. I've seen some people developing it and there's this one guy who made a demolition script that's better than anything I've ever seen. But Blender doesn't come anywhere close to using Bullet's full potential.
@casvlaco The demolition softbody is useless without a super computer. You'll notice that on the demonstration video of a WTC case study, the bake time was 10 minutes per frame. You can't do that much baking and still meet a deadline if you're destroying an entire city, and because blender doesn't allow node computers you can't distribute the simulating the way you can with realflow.
@BMAnnArbor Also, I'm familiar with the rigid body fracture system and it's useless for this sort of thing. I've managed to create one semi-realistic demolition with it but it took longer to setupand simulate than it did in BlastCode. In the other main demolisher Rayfire, you can simulate the breaking with breakable bonds and it designs the fracture based on the settings and location of your objects so that small pieces break at the impact point and bigger pieces are create farther out.
@BMAnnArbor Your comment makes me laugh. First of all, my comment was a joke which is why it has over 100 votes. Secondly, you don't have any idea how smart or wealthy I am. I guarantee you that from looking at you and your channel, that I'm about double your intelligence. I doubt you took any classes above Algebra in middle school. I was taking chemistry and mechanical engineering at Sac State and graduated with almost a perfect grade in both classes. Think about what you say before saying it.
