  • Very good, thanx

  • Agree with sunshine! Usually I don't do this but i've been compiling a playlist thanks to firefox's download mp3 feature. Now, to give you an idea of scale i've gone from 60's-90's and back again..and on nearly EVERY video "__brought me here" or "thumbs up if __" whatever happened to the days of just not being an attention whore? *I realise i'm ranting but trust me this has been building for days and has come to a crux* an internet connection and love of music brings us to every video.shut up!

  • No one cares who brought you here.

  • I LOVE THIS SONG SO MUCH FROM I WAS A KID.

  • This was played at my Mums funeral, thanks for posting it

I'm the last one left now, from a family of 7, I'm the oldest, all my brothers and sisters were younger than me

My sister was more in toucgh with my Mum, she played this for ages afterwards

  • Big!

  • For those of you reading who can play the guitar this sounds lovely on the acoustic. Simple chords so song is ideal even for the novice. Give it ago!

  • AND I WOULD DO ANYTHING FOR LOVE

  • big tune !!! Ken

  • thats my great uncle believe it or not

  • love it x

  • No one is disputing Ken Boothe's ability, it's just odd hearing this song performed as a romantic piece. The song was originally written by David Gates after losing his dad, wishing he could see him again.

  • @Sangrenegra9

So NOW you've come to realise and appreciate the ability and versatility of the

    JAMAICAN reaggae artiste!

KEN is only 1 of 100's who are the crem-da-le-crem of this particular genre. Keep

living, listeing and learning because we're sure you have MANY more discoveries

    to make!!!

  • @Sangrenegra9

    *sp: Keep living, listening

  • crazy music ,thumbs up if you addicted : p

  • jivesdefunkelman

  • judgedreadmusic

  • @judgedreadmusic

    "judgedreadmusic"

    I do.

  • the pic at 0:22 is Desmond Dekker NOT Ken Boothe just sayin..........

  • 17 people have nothing to own

  • There are two versions of this... my single on Trojan from 1974 doesn't have the "bells". I wonder what the story is on this. It otherwise sounds like the same mix...

  • 17 people dont own anything !!

  • Tantas versiones he escuchado. Hasta cumbias. Esta es mi favorita :D

  • if it was about a woman he would be the one sheltering her from harm :p

  • the son is about his father nothing to do with a woman!

  • The beggining is soooo sweet ! "you sheltered me from harm" ....

  • BIG TUNE...!!!! This is a TRUE Jamaican love song...!! I know a girl i would do this for.

  • had unrequited love for a girl now shes gone this song says it all.

  • THE ORIGINAL VERSION WAS BY THE AMERICAN GROUP "BREAD" (MAKE IT WITH YOU FAME) THOUGH I DO PREFER THIS VERSION TO THE 1987 BOY GEORGE ONE.

  • Possibly..greatest. song. ever.

  • I JUST LOVE IT.......... 44 YEARS OLD AND STILL LISTENING TO IT 30 YEARS ON...NEVER CAN THIS MUSIC BE REPRODUCED in the words of ELBOW those days were GOLDEN........

  • this is like a totally different song from the orig. lol not bad, but the orig. sounds 100x sadder and heartfelt. This is just a very light, weightless interpretation.

  • @Jako32 please this is a reggae interpretation of the song. And very well done. Why would an artiste like ken boothe try to sound like bread, with such a powerful voice

  • >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

  • love this version of this song!!!

  • bring it on damn i luv this

  • Musical ecstasy <3

  • takes me back

  • this song reminds me of my dad..cause i know he would give anything for me, my brother and sister like if you have someone that would do the same

  • 16 people dont own anything

  • 16 people dont know what real mucic is <3

  • @LoudLois495 17 animals

  • What a fantastic tune.I have'nt heard this in years, used to have it on an old original k-tel hits LP,used to sing it all the time,I was only about 10 years old, I'm 47 now !

Brings back happy childhood memories. Thanks for uploading it.

  • 14 dislikes? man them 14 dudes have no soul

  • @TheMeltdown23

The 14 dislikes must be from David Gates and Bread fans. Gates wrote it, I think.

  • @twinkie57401 lol, yea probaly, philistines !!

  • @twinkie57401 why? This is a great cover version.

  • at 00:27- thats Desmond Dekker ^^

  • @vskand David Gates of the band Bread wrote and sang this about his father.

  • @MickeyLynott ok thank you very much:D

  • @shinotora1X

this wonderful (and better then original) (cover/remake) is just dedecated to his daddy ;)

  • show

  • this song always brings tears to my eyes. My brother introduced me to this song and whenever i listen to this song i always remember my brother. Reggae knows the true feeling of joy and sadness!

  • I'm a fan of the likes of Pink Floyd and King Crimson, but this song transcends musical boundaries. When I was a teenage, this song stole my heart and still does today... and it outdoes Bread's original version, which is rare for a cover version. Brilliant.

  • HONKY! REGGAE SUCKS!!!!!!! TERRIBLE!!!!!!!

  • @mrmikespence1964 you fuckin suck...

  • @mrmikespence1964 you are a fucking retarded

Mr. Keen Boothe, you added soulful reggae to the already tasty Bread.

  • great number a good cover of a david gates song deservedly went to the number one spot . love it

  • @gateslover maybe its testament to the brilliant song that a cover - in a totally different genre - can be so good.

  • just came from Brixton academy and dude you rocked the joint.. Jah bless to you

  • This version kicks. Gates may have written it, but Ken did the proper job with it.

    Great stuff.

  • watched ken and company on bbc reggae britannia at the barbican. wicked, wish that I knew about the show b4.

  • Great tune and upload. DD at 0.26.
