At the end of halo 3 if you complete it in legendary, you will get an extended ending. Like all the halo games it gives you an extra bit of story. In it, John (Master Chief) goes into one of those freeze things like at the start of halo 1. Then he says "Wake me up if you need me". I don't k now if he was talking to Cortana or the player.

actually when this game came out the creator said in a interview that this is the last of THIS TRILOGY FOR HALO but he said that that's not all. he might create another halo game but not related to this one or at least directly
