It is almost funny the fact that you actually explain that ubuntu is way easier than windows; two things:

- what are the differences between the various linux based o.s.?

- what are the system requirements to be able to use (and enjoy)some of the desktop effects?

ubuntu can mess up ur pc and other os if you just delete the partition its is. Just a not to noobs. Can anyone tell me how to remove ubuntu without having to reinstall all my other os?

clearly: i have windows vista. i have a linux/ubuntu liveCD. i have TWO hard drives. i want to install linux to the other hard drive.

this for any one who wants to dual boot.

REMEMBER:install windows first before you dual boot,installing windows last could overwrite the mbr causing linux to be un-use-able.when you partition with windows make a partition for linux and a partition for windows so you don't have to re-size.

Reccomended requirements are

300 MHz x86 processor

64 MB of system memory (RAM)

At least 4 GB of disk space (for full installation and swap space)

Ubuntu doesn't need a terribly powerful computer to run, it is good for giving older computers new life and functionality as long as the given computer is from the 2000 era. If it is a 90s computer, look for a smaller distro in the Ubuntu family like Kubuntu or Xubuntu.

Where do you download the linux from? Ubuntu(dot)com? And then burn it on to a disc and boot from the disc?

Thats right, or you can order it from the ubuntu website

burn the iso. file to a cd or dvd and insert the disk into your computer then restart it and it will boot from the cd

Yes, you will need to create a unformatted partition first and then install Ubuntu on it.
