When pressure mount & people look for an outlet for their life's frustrations, the media (which is hyped for ratings) moves in to fill this void. I was taking the word of Google that they had disabled my site for what they thought were violations of their Program Policies, whatever reason they thought so, and now I am taking their word that they accidentally disabled my site when they were "targeting a large network of spammers." When a video had been removed, YouTube never even gave a reason. So you are right, we don't know for sure what really happened.
