I got in a wreck in this truck with a full truck of people getting hit by a suburban going 50 hitting us directly in the front. Other than a couple bruises all 5 of us got out of the truck perfectly fine (the truck was completely totaled in the front and the seats were seperated) and walked over to check on each other. I've driven a chevy silverado for over twelve years. Bought it with 100k miles. Has 287K. Nothing has been replaced on it but the alternator and starter. I drive it like I stole it. I'm 6'3" so to me toyotas are way to small. That's why chavys rule in the states, we're big. (not fat big). Toyotas are good for teenagers and small men. There are plenty of 10+ year old Toyota trucks running around (and still running at that). There are also plenty of 20+ year old Toyota trucks around and running with well over 200k on the ODO.

You might be living in Europe but in southern California, it is is more common to see 20 year old Amercian trucks than Toyotas. If I remember correctly, didn't Toyota's trucks have rust and oil sludge issues?
Maybe there aren't many more in California because of the strict emissions standards? That or you live in an area where you don't see many, because there really are quite a bit. I'm sure doing some research you could see just how many people have an old Toyota truck on the road.
Toyota trucks have no more issues with rust then domestic trucks. I replaced my 1996 Tahoe with a Tacoma because the frame rusted out on the Tahoe.

compare the GMC Canyon crash test to this peice of shit. the toyota bounces back a shit load which means it did not absorb much shock, the seat belt does not stop the dumbass from moving forward and the bastard slams into the stearing wheel.the GMC does not bounce away as far which means it absorbs more of the shock, and the dumbass does not hit the stearing wheel, because the seatbelts actually work in this truck. I just watched a colorado crash test and windshield never broke in it either so maybe it's not so impressive. I also watched a F-150 and it folded up like a pop can being stepped on.
Yeah they are but not to crumple on the humans in them and crush them. The ford f150 2005 truck was a joke. Just go watch it and then watch the chevrolet, dodge, toyota. No comparison. If I had a ford truck I'd sell it fast as possible because they clearly don't care about safety.
Hey, did you guys notice the windshield didn't even break. I've always been a GM man but the more I read about the tacoma I'm leaning that way. I have a 97 S-10 that I bought new and have never done anything to so it will be hard to buy a toyota but this is impressive. Anyone own a new tacoma who has had a colorado to tell me your impressions?
I have an 07 Tacoma and so far I've been very happy with it. I've taken it on many trips to the desert and even with the stock suspension it handled admirably. My father owns an 02 4Runner 4x4 (very similar to the older Tacomas) and it too has seen its share of abuse and still runs perfectly (and that includes 3 runs down the length of baja and back... hasn't had to do anything but oil changes).

what a ignorant response by suicide hummer the japanese employ american labour...they couldnt afford a depression simply because everyone will follow the same suit...the plain and simple truth is who ever builds a better car youre most likely going to drive it and thats the end of this topic...
Actually if you look closely you will see a bar sticking out the back left side. It looks like it hits one of those posts before it smacks into the wall. Maybe it's a sensor to kill what ever is pushing the truck.
tacomas are twice the truck a ranger is!my 02 taco is still worth 16k and no one sells them because they are such good trucks. stick with your plastic ranger "edge" my truck eats yours for breakfast
to answer your question, a 22r-e is a 2.4 liter I4 fuel-injected gasoline engine developed by toyota. and to be blunt, it kicks ass. these engines are known best for their longevity. lets put it this way: i look forward to giving my toyota to my future grandchildren. buying american products simply because i am american is an appeal to loyalty. that is not proper justification for buying an american car.
I hate to break it to you, but fisting isn't hot. Maybe you might like it, but it's been scientifically proven that 99.9999% of all heterosexual males find fisting to be incredibly gay.
After the crash test, they saved the vehicles and store it for future studies. I saw it on Discovery where there's vehicles they kept from that 70's for show. I don't remember exactly.
well, u kind of have to look at it like this, if there was no crash test of these vehicles, then what would give the auto companies the motivation to make them safer? we would all be riding around in death traps! but yes,,it is a shame to see such an awesome truck get smashed!
Who wants to bet it will still crank? haha

Why isn't there a 40 mph barrier roof crush test?
A vehicle could flip on its' side and slide roofwards into concrete or a good old tree.
Our livelihood should not depend on whether Ford, Toyota, Gm, or Bugs Bunny can survive an aluminum box cushioned barrier test.
Now can a Toyota survive a supernova?
It's far safer to do a precise pubic hair count.
How many people know this?

Agreed with immediate above.

Hey, did you guys notice the windshield didn't even break. I've always been a GM man but the more I read about the tacoma I'm leaning that way. I have a 97 S-10 that I bought new and have never done anything to so it will be hard to buy a toyota but this is impressive. Anyone own a new tacoma who has had a colorado to tell me your impressions?
matt78tv 4 years ago
I have an 07 Tacoma and so far I've been very happy with it. I've taken it on many trips to the desert and even with the stock suspension it handled admirably. My father owns an 02 4Runner 4x4 (very similar to the older Tacomas) and it too has seen its share of abuse and still runs perfectly (and that includes 3 runs down the length of baja and back... hasn't had to do anything but oil changes).
Oh yeah, and resale value also kicks ass.

what a ignorant response by suicide hummer the japanese employ american labour...they couldnt afford a depression simply because everyone will follow the same suit...the plain and simple truth is who ever builds a better car youre most likely going to drive it and thats the end of this topic...

if you listen closely, you can hear sorta a tire popping before it even hits the wall:S
f150king 4 years ago
Actually if you look closely you will see a bar sticking out the back left side. It looks like it hits one of those posts before it smacks into the wall. Maybe it's a sensor to kill what ever is pushing the truck.

it is i totaled my last tacoma from a drunk jack ass with his full size f150
thecardrawer10 4 years ago
that's the sound of the track releasing the truck right before it slams against the wall.

Great truck. I find it a little too big though. I will keep my Ranger for a few more years.

ranger is a better truck. more rugged, reliable, looks like a real truck and feels like a real truck..keep the ranger.
cabuco2006 4 years ago
tacomas are twice the truck a ranger is!my 02 taco is still worth 16k and no one sells them because they are such good trucks. stick with your plastic ranger "edge" my truck eats yours for breakfast
rodie420 3 years ago
Define "more rugged."
And by feels like a real truck do you mean it feels like pieces are falling off of it every time you take it off road?

What's a 22r-e? Japanese companies are trying to put GM out of business, which will cause a depression. Buy American!

welcome to capitalism. make better vehicles.

Well if you don't mind living in a box...
suicidehummer 4 years ago
to answer your question, a 22r-e is a 2.4 liter I4 fuel-injected gasoline engine developed by toyota. and to be blunt, it kicks ass. these engines are known best for their longevity. lets put it this way: i look forward to giving my toyota to my future grandchildren. buying american products simply because i am american is an appeal to loyalty. that is not proper justification for buying an american car.

Well at least give domestics a chance! Drive one. Try a new CTS, they're unbelievable!

You are a complete fag. I have a fist that says it can push deeply into your face.

I wonder where else that fist has 'pushed deeply'
puutube 4 years ago 2
Up your mommas ass too. You remember, don't you fag?
keithishere4266 4 years ago
I hate to break it to you, but fisting isn't hot. Maybe you might like it, but it's been scientifically proven that 99.9999% of all heterosexual males find fisting to be incredibly gay.

After the crash test, they saved the vehicles and store it for future studies. I saw it on Discovery where there's vehicles they kept from that 70's for show. I don't remember exactly.

It's a very impressive crash-test result, especially for a pickup, but I'm surprised by the chassis flex towards the rear.

what a waste of a truck! give me whats left over!
JUKIO01 4 years ago
well, u kind of have to look at it like this, if there was no crash test of these vehicles, then what would give the auto companies the motivation to make them safer? we would all be riding around in death traps! but yes,,it is a shame to see such an awesome truck get smashed!
