Yes. All the anime cutscenes were changed to 3-D cell shading. But I will say this is some of the best cell shading I've ever seen in a game. Especially when you consider, as the video shows, that's the in-game graphics.

I've been hyped for this game since it's the baby of Level-5 and Studio Ghilbi, both which I love, and anything that comes out of them must be amazing. The trailers/gameplay videos do not disappoint.

And I for one am glad it's getting localized since there's many good jrpg's that are never released out of Japan.

When I first read the article about this in Game Informer I almost peed my pants when I saw that it was being produced by Studio Ghibli...I can fully expect that most amazing story with anything they create and of course amazing art styles. The fighting style really brings back memories of OLD fighting styles in Final Fantasy :) All I can say is I'm super excited for this game

I hated the photography system, you didn't have as much freedom to do what you wanted, and the lack of the town building aspect was a game breaker for me. The whole thing just felt.. empty, compared to DC1. Though you're right, I would love for them to make a DC3

Anything and i do mean anything that involves Studio Ghibli is pure gold, awesome story lines and great animations, great character development. I am so happy that they are extending their reach into gaming. This will really breathe some life back into Jrpg's. I can't wait for this game!!

I resent that Ni No Kuni is a turn based rpg. It would have been so much better as a Wind Waker style adventure. Such a shame that one of the most beautiful games in recent memory has to have boring gameplay just so it can cater to Japanese tastes. I'll buy it second hand to complete my Ghibli collection, but I would rather watch someone else play it. Ghibli should be teaming up with Nintendo!

@videochemist I'm not so sure about that, actually. The setup looks a little more like the first Digimon World, where your summoned creature acted on its own in real time, with you able to influence its actions (and possibly call for specific moves) by calling out to it.
