  • 1:56 in the left bottom looks like a skull!

  • Its like an A bomb exploded above the city. Incredible!

  • @chanctonbury63 That description would be hurricane Andrew in Florida in 1992. lol

  • I actually heard more people died from the ensuing fires after the Earthquake..., may they rest in peace.....<D

  • Great song, great footage of what happened, and what they learned from it, 2day SF, is just as picureqused as Paris, France<D

  • looks like Detroit now--took longer but the same. Detroit was from hate and fear, I guess all is that.... somehow

but always it comes back to a better way

  • susan b anthoy died in 1906

  • omg was the earthquake really that bad? are there any video footage of the earthquake?

  • 2:10

It should be noted that the city government enacted laws in the early nineteen-seventies, that prohibited the building of tall buildings in most parts of the city.

Moreover, the plan provided for the polulation density of the City to remain low and that there be no huge number of people crammend onto the peninsular.

As had happened elsewhere in the United States, post second world war.

Great city ! thanks for posting.

    Cheers.

    from,

    del-boy.

  • @YesYesYouAreRight I have a question. You mentioned "plan provided for the polulation density of the City to remain low " but at present, San Fran is packed. Highly dense in relation to livable space provided. Using humor, one has to step outside San Fran to change his mind. One would be better off living up San Raphael way or down Half Moon Bay way; population and living space speaking. Just pondering.

  • @kodachromefilm Dear Kodak., You are quite right that the City is crowded, but it is no where near as crowded as it might have been had the City allowed say, thirty-nine twenty-story apartment or office buildings on each of the City's hills. . The principle problem in those days was that: were tall buildings allowed to be built the natural shape, topography of the City, would be lost. Valley would be filled with towers and hills flattened by obstruction. . . Cheers. from, del-boy.
  • thanks i need to know that for a project

  • thanks in need to know that for a project

  • thats a good video, (:

  • They say if an earthquake hits the fault again, the part in the sea past the fault, pretty much will collapse. I'm talking about San Andreas though I think.

  • thumbs up for the people who survived the eearthquake

  • 1989 one was funny well it was like my dad was watching tv and the earthqucke happen and a big crack was in the wall he was like calm down its ok stay calm and a person next door was screaming like crazy hahahah

  • I was in the 89 earthquake. I know it wasn't as big but I was still hard to deal with at the time

  • it looks like the consequent big fire had the bigger effect of distruction

  • another great vid for conspiracy terrorists´n´umerologuests lol

or in infidel words the governor and the grade pyramid...

  • My grandfather was in San Francisco for the great earthquake. It was the fires that that started due to the quake that destroyed most of the city. But we are still in California since 1866 and have never found a better climate, nor abundance of the best food, organic (healthy), goods, services, things to do 24/7/365. We have more lakes, best surf and ocean, heaviest snow, and yet Democracts (socialism/communism) still managed to destroy jobs, freedom and happiness. I won't vote for Barb Boxer.

  • @itisaduck DOnt worry, John McCain is now voting in the food safety act (CODEX ALementarus) to protect you from those home grown orgnic foods and supplements as synthetic doctors know better.

  • Zappatx, McCain is Corporation shill. I respect his military service but he fought me in Arizona on open borders (I observed and reported invaders and fought for jobs, save and secure borders on radio and TV). I think they switched bodies when he was captured in North Vietnam lol! I love my area but I figure I may have to flee sooner or later. Such a great state, climate, beaches, ocean, high sierras, gold country, redwoods, wildlife, crop soil, oil, all becoming a Socialist Poverty Sewer!

  • Zappatx, I am planting right now. I use heirloom seeds not the patented corporation seed.

  • @itisaduck since when do jew houses collapoprate into welfare trash for the unsuspecting molasses lol

just because u2 (*) got tsar bombs???

)x( u shall lörrn pi sä numbass heh huh heh ?

  • jutubaeh, What are you dropping or smoking? Are you a Nazi? I can't understand what you are writing. BYW, my Grandmother was born in Nuremburg, Germany.

  • bbtoosangre, You don't do math well? My father was born 4-5-1917 (The day the US & Germany went to war), 11 years after the quake/fire. So yes it was my Grandfather Lewis B Chase that was there when it all came down. My dad was his youngst son so Lewis was a man at the time, in San Francisco on business, I assume. My Dad is now 93 in April. I am 62, not 160. BTW, The oldest person alive on earth now is 130 in April. Lives in Russia. My Great grandfather joined the US Cavalry at 15 and went to

  • War with his dad and his grandfather. 1st Reg of Iowa cavalry. They brought their own horses and firearms. Then afterward moved to California. I could write all day about family members in books and history including myself. From Founding USA, signing the Declaration of War against England to Founding California presently on TV, Newspapers, etc., I named a street after GG dad a couple years ago. blah blah blah

  • bbtoosangre, BTW, I am both famous and infamous. Loved and really hated, in the US

  • Fallout 3.

  • HOLY SHIT!!! 0:59

  • September 2010 California.please relocate

  • hgf

  • HAARP will do al the work and the BIG LEADERS will say wel look NIBIRU is coming, Look Ozone Layer going, look SOLAR FLARES the fact is they will take out the earth so that there will be a population far easier to manage. Can you imagine the NEW WORLD ORDER telling MUSLIMS, BUDHISTS, JOHOVER WITNESSES, INDIANS that there will be a NEW WORLD RELIGION. NO WAY A MUSLIM OR OTHER IS GOING TO CHANGE THEIR BELIEFS. That's why the NWO gonna smash this planet and start again. Also a 1 world currency

  • we learned about this in school, our teacher said the earth moved 32 inches, and its gonna happen again soon. So its gonna be really bad if it does right?

  • i know one thing they didnt count the chineese, saw that on Qi

  • i know how it is i live 2 hours south of san fransico i remember two years ago we had a 5.6 and that was the first i ever felt so its scary

  • WOW-:O

  • full moon & earthquakes -- no wonder I can't sleep! If the big one hits, remember we're all supposed to meet at the top of Dolores Park.

  • the big 1 in 1906 to 1989

  • that is 8.9

  • Do you live in Cali? Why the heck are you sayin that. Its unpredictable, we can get a 7.0-10.0. It is more likely we will get a 7.0 in the next 10 years and a 8.0+ in the next 50-100 years. They are unpredictable as I said. But it is good we are getting a whole bunch of small ones because that is relieving the strain on the faults

  • the big 1 in 2010

  • @COD3andCF It's weird you posted that 9 months ago, And in 2010 Jan.12, A huge earthquake did hit, just not in California...

  • that was interesting....

  • Hey who sings the song...and who is the artist..nice andasd song..I want to buy it..LMK..thanks! :D

  • @jameschowjoshua the artis is Natalie Merchand : "San Andreas Fault" (c) 1996 is a beautiful cd a best seller of the late 90s she also was the vocalist for the band 10'000 maniacs * in the early 90s

  • Thank you mate! :)

  • Great music and video congratulations.

  • Oh man and I can sense them right b4 their gonna hapen, I wake up seconds b4 . I developed it after I got over my fear, crazy hu... =(

  • I live in LA, and have been used to them since I was in 4th grade, Im so still scared of a bigger one, and Ive only ecperienced a 6.7 Northridge quake in LA, which was hard to me, and still 45 minutes away driving distance. I'd rather leave LA =( But the weather is real nice.

  • i think you think that an earthquake can hit you every time. don't you? sorry for this but i only want to now

  • Arent san francisco predicted another one of these?

  • THe sound is really bad! There is a lot of energy released in an earthquake!

  • I went to SF in 2006 and was a little scared of this next one! The Big 1!

  • k, it's going to happen again

  • This clip was a great way to see what those dear people went through.

  • Dear Natalie, i am a student. I would much appreciate it if i can kindly use your EXCELLENT!!! video in my presentation. I will clearly state that the video is from you.

  • Natalie Merchant is the singer of the song, San Andreas Fault.

  • haha. You're a freakin' idiot. Yes they did. Geez, take a class.

  • sorry cmbojim, that was for hardyztextreme, not you.

  • you must be the dumbest motherf*cker alive go back to school you uneducated ass.

  • hardyztextreme....not only did they have cameras, they also had movies thanks to Thomas Edison.

  • my great-grandpa was 17 during the quake, and he and his father helped to dynamite parts of the city. my great-grandmother was 10 adn ended up living in the refugee camps in GGP.

  • Wow, what stories you got to listen to! Very cool. Thank you for sharing.

  • @umbell My grand parents had similar stories. My gandpa's father went missing and he had to live on the streets to fend for himself at age 14. The fires caused much damage and raged on after the quake.

  • bad music!

  • but i need it for my presentation about san Francisco ... thanks

  • who is San Andrea and why is it her fault?

    lol

  • there also was a big earthquake in 1989. my sister was only a few months old! my mom threw her under a table and my dad and her went to the hospital clinic.... im not lying ask my mom herself :( my sister's LIFE was in danger.. she is healthy and older now though :)

  • yea and so i was born during the fucking earthquake, no fucking electricity in the whole entire fucking hospital

  • ever heard of broken pipes?

Do your reading up on this and you will learn the turth and by the way they like to clain 450+ its more like 3k the went dead or missing

  • San Francisco rocks!.... pun intended

  • you're funny

  • yep fires did the most

This was due to the pipes under city lost pressure much like the same way the city did in 89.So just like o6 89 they used boats and hoses on the fires at the marina.

  • thats how the city got really great.....just think of when the next earthquake hits :\

  • Another gay quivering alterna wannabe 60's hippy folk singer. Cliche.

  • then how do you know that it happened in year 1906?

  • The bulk of the damage was caused by the ensuing devastating fires.

  • Broken gas lines AND broken water lines is not a good thing. They even tried blowing up sections of the city to help stop those fires.

  • 'how do we stop the city from being destroyed by fire?'

    'by destroying it with explosives'

    'oh yeah cool'

  • Many of those fires were reportedly arson. People could stake insurance claims with damage due only to fire, not an earthquake.

  • Had not heard that tidbit. Thanks for sharing.

  • I've heard that quake in 1906 was about 8 in Richter scale and there were 2 quakes that day before morning. The first was bigger. Is it true?

  • Nice city, especially the Golden Gate. That is the most beautiful bridge I've ever seen.

  • Poor city. Constantly in danger...

  • and now its full of gays , it wiped out all the str8 and normal folk , such disaster

  • No, the gays put the city back together and sold it back to the str8 people for huge profits. Smart gay folks.

  • heh, no wonder they can afford them posh suits

  • : )

    Have a great day.

  • there are gay every city your an ass !

  • yer but fransico is known for its pufter society

  • This clip was a great way to see what those dear people went through.

  • I'll drink to that!

  • SPRTZFNATC

No, it's not a fake, It did happen, people died and suffered, these things happen because we live in an unstable world that we don't yet fully comprehend, but that non comprehension of these events should not be automatically attributed to God's will. Like I said earlier, if people post silly comments then they should expect silly returns.

Alas, different culture, different sense of humour...I'll try to be a bit more sensitive, thanks.

  • See what happens when you open a can of worms during an earthquake??? You have baked worms from the heat generated by the fire set to save the rich people's pearls and whiskey.

  • OK, Ronnie. You seem to know it all. First, Earthquakes have the KNOWN ability to rupture if not completely destroy gas lines, down power lines and start fires! Not to mention it was 1906 and the first AC powered lights were only in Telluride,CO. My point is that lamps were still in mass usage. Thus the stores of lamp oil in cellars ran like streams towards the fires to help feed and spread them into this nightmare. Do you still think this was faked?

  • It was a response to the 'God's Will post,

If people post silly comments, they get silly returns.

  • LOL ~ I got it.

  • Its a FAKE!

How can an earthquake be on fire?

These people should get their facts right. An earthquake makes the ground shake...it doesn't burn things!

And how come there is colur at the start and end but not in the middle bit. Truthers eh! Cospiracy nuts more like, Like!

  • omg.. you never been in big eartquake.. read more dude! dont be an ignorant.

  • well if this didnt happen we wouldnt have great things like the hufquakes.. hmm maybe not worth it..

  • if the GOD want he will

  • nice song in the background

  • what song is this? I like it

  • it wont post?

  • Cool Song, I thought it sounded like 10,000 maniacs. 2 major and one large fault line all with in a 50 mile radius of one another, It's a miracle we haven't had more in the past 18 years. Cross our fingers. We're in a quiet period right now.

  • This one is over 9.6 magnitude

  • what is its magnitude?

  • I hope I dont lose my wifi after the next big one here.

  • I hope you have an inflatable raft in case of the big one.

  • yeah, right... lol

  • Perhaps you could use your inflatable Nalts...

    AS A FLOTATION DEVICE!!!

  • Very informative and moving, fantastic song!
