  • Manual gearbox and a car with a clutch pedal. That was for hairy chested men

  • Brethren, you have to understand, F1 (working top speed) and Rally (works maneuvers above), then you can see much difference between the two famous sports!

  • Goodbye my hero. I miss you.

  • RIP

  • that Australia stage was nuts.

  • 7minutes of rally is more better than 1hour of formula 1 or nascar

  • @seonone lol ikr if i wanted to watch a bunch of cars drive around in a circle id move into a coldosack

  • i like STICK TRANSMISSION wrc. Like on this video

  • 4:51 Man the car was even more excited for that jump! You can even hear it say, "WEEEEEH!"

Kidding aside, I missed the man, and the old school rallying. F1 drivers are awesome as well. You can never really compare the because F1 and rally may be both motorsports, but they are totally different.

  • I noticed that to gear up colin didn't use the clutch. Am I right?

  • @SangueVerde7 I don't know if it was the same for cars back then, but now they use a sequential gearbox - no clutch.

  • Rally drivers have arguably better car control, and definitely better car control in adverse conditions, but then, rally driving requires a much lower level of precision than Formula 1 racing. You can't really say one is better than the other because neither could really do what the other does particularly well, as Kimi Raikkonen has proven.

  • Well, there will Never be another Jimi Hendrix that can play guitar like he did.....IN THE SAME VEIN THERE WILL NEVER..NEVER BE ANOTHER COLIN MCRAE WHO WAN DRIVE LIKE HE DID EITHER. God rest him. He was extraordinary. RIP.

  • 4:45 to 5:13 ..... amazing

  • @EratiCManiaC those are the BUnnings jumps, look for McRae Bunnings, it's awesome..

  • @Arty288 Cheers mate will do

  • Great stuff, great vid. Fighting the steering wheel for 10 minutes per stage.... or 10 hours per day. That is just intense!

  • Engine sound + Co-pilot voice = so much excitement !

  • that is too fast... Way too fast.... you make others look bad... slow it down so others dont look bad....

  • COLIN MCRAE, LEGENT TO REMEMBER

  • May he R.I.P.

  • shit... that would be so much of an experience. his co driver has no idea how lucky he is

  • R.I.P. Collin... he made it look easy.

  • Ahh.. F**k this. LOL Way to beat the shit out of a Jap. Car that is.

  • Ahh.. Phuk this. LOL

  • whats the 555 stand for if it does?

  • @ELECTROMSTR

555 is a brand of japenesse cigs that sponsered subaru in the early years little know fact 555 is pronounced hahaha or something in japenesse

  • @jadepuget2 They were from the UK and were mostly popular in China. 555 in Japanese is go-go-go.

  • @ELECTROMSTR 555 is a cigarette company that sponsored the Subaru World Rally car in the 90's.

  • wtf is RAC? :I

  • @decjko It means "Royal Automobile Club",who was the presenter of the GB rally....sometimes the RAC was also ironically translated as "Rally Around Cardiff(the rally base)" after the rally was shortened in the 90s

  • Absolutely awesome. My fave rally car of all time with my fave driver behind the wheel.

    RIP Colin. Forever sideways.

  • 4:45

"FUCK YOU AND YOUR DOUBLE CAUTION, I'M JUMPING THIS SHIT!"

  • grist fucks up a bit, looks a little fast forward.

  • Wow! THis is impposible to drive like this! Loeb have to learn more and more to be like CMR! I can't imagine how risky sport is it!? They drive LIVE not on playstation!!!

  • the australia bit felt like 98

  • crazy ass people stand in the most vulnerable spots!

  • Looks like 3 inbreds hit the dislike button...

But seriously how can you not like this video

    RIP Colin

  • 0:46

I would have said that too if I did that.

  • his co-driver is also the best...

  • holy shit, heater vents and a regular 5 speed

  • wowww fantasticoooo

  • bellissimo

  • 3 people are Tanner Foust fans.

  • Imagine the first time you had to tell your driver, "Over crest, big jump...OH DEAR..."

  • colin at the start when he wedges it in the ditch, 'oh fuck this man!'

  • wich is the name on the start of the film??? Nice Video!!! Please anwser!!

  • he makes it look so damn ez XD

  • Thumbs up if you think rally drivers are more talented than F1 Drivers

  • @binokoda I don't need to give you thumbs up. This is already common knowledge. Look at how well F1 champion Raikkonen is coping in the WRC.

  • @binokoda yeah they r but its a different still of driving rallying is much harder for shore

  • @binokoda My Thumb gives you finishing ONE HUNDRED!!!

  • @binokoda Ayrton Senna.

  • @binokoda

Dude you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. First of all I want to mention that these two race types can not be compared to each other, they are just way too different. But dude, in a F1 car you have about 6 times G-Force, you're driving around 250-300 km/h and you still have to find your break point, which is in formula one about 1 meter long. Rally driving demands incredible skills, but these forces and the speed and especially the precision can not be compared.

  • @laubry I haven't claimed that any driver is more talented than another, I simply wanted to see other peoples opinion on the matter since I am a motorcycle person. There is no disputing the talent of any drivers competing in rallying or formula 1.

  • @laubry agreed!

  • @binokoda I'll say, I give F1 drivers credit, but there on a closed circuit and everything is more predictable. That's where rally talent comes in with it's unpredictable nature and the constantly changing stages. They have to do so much more work. Rally is the best motorsport! Thumbs up to Binokoda too!

  • @binokoda The only reason that they look more talented is because of all the craziness it looks like the driver is going through. Combine a driver who can drive on nurburgring nordchleife + a redneck dirt track racer + a human gps and you got a rally car racer. Plus there are things that F1 drivers do thats way more harder like experiencing body crushing Gs, ACTUALLY RACING, and doing all that for 3 hours and not just 15 minutes.....

But im not taking anything away from the rally racers :)

  • @TheStockCarStig G Forces are combated with fitness level and holding your breathe, F1 doesn't last long either, 52 laps doesn't take long at all.

  • @binokoda thumbs up if you think rally drivers are more talented than F1 Drivers AT RALLYING.

and thumbs up again if you think F1 Drivers are more talented than rally Drivers at FORMULA1.

these comparisons are so much stupid, no surprise you got 300 agree with you...

  • did you see that jump!!!!

  • This is WRC....and not this we have today..toy cars and looks like to have have only one driver...Loeb.. This is rallying....... Colin...we miss u R.I.P

  • RIP colin mcrae... i got tears in my eyes right now!! nicky grist the best known voice in wrc history 4 sure!!

  • estos si son conductores de verdad, carros de verdad, pistas de verdad!

  • slow slippy, maybe slow,he aint listenin hes doin it!!!!!

  • Insane, but people standing next to the track by only 1 cm is just simply madness.

  • nicky sounded a little impatient

  • I like turtles!

  • Quit being douches about NASCAR. I have yet to see a rally driver beat a NASCAR driver in NASCAR and vise versa. When that happens you may bitch

  • @SirWilliamLeys They drive in circles, many many times,so very impressive.

  • nascar is gay, and im american!

  • @the411is420 I agree.

  • @the411is420 cool story bro

  • Steel balls, no fear, a real gearshift, sleeves pulled up...& speeeeeeeed control. Purist unadulterated & no french accent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I admire Loeb's superb driving, but with only him today, it is absolutely boring without other true rallying masters.

  • @GarthBeatty your right, I wish McRae was still alive, he was one of the best things that happened to rallying besides Makinnen and a few others, they made it excitng to watch, they gave you a reason to admire them. Those years were the ones when you would admire all of the drivers (including last) becuase of their skill and the level rallying was at. Sadly, it's not there today.

  • @GarthBeatty what about solberg he's got the most grit out of anyone in the wrc and is balls out everywhere in a car he has to pay for when it goes wrong he's the real wrc hero not loeb

  • Now that's how to drive... rip Colin

Bring back the old rules none of these paddle crap & electronic gizmo's, how many people in the world drive paddle box cars? I say more driver skill & less electronics is needed in the sport. Plus this would lower the cost of building a WRC car then we will see more manufactures join the competition instead of a 2 leg horse race as it is now.

  • I like in 4:52, the co-driver stop talking for a second, like if he was thinking "oh shit!, this is gonna hurt!!"

  • It's so amazing for spectators but I cant beat moving my head into shoulders on 4:52

  • sexy,love him...too bad he died though =( damn

  • 0.48 "AHH FUCK THIS MAN"

Colin was the whole reason I got into WRC/Scoobies thanks to him I have a 400+ bhp Impreza for a car

RIP Colin a hero and a legend!

  • colin mcrae is a legend

  • Great video. Nice seeing colin in action again.

  • 4:50 - so badass amazing.

  • Man is this video running a bit faster or Collin just drives that Subaru like an air fighter?

  • @MirceaBv Trust me , that is the real speed ......

  • Awsome!

  • Best car porn ever...

  • holy crap @4:48 i was shitting my pants!

  • @Hardstylaz That's gotta realign some vertebrae, huh? :-0

  • @gasfgiop lol. Poor colin's mother fronted with the bill for new underpants

  • magnificent COLIN AND NICKY!

  • Increíble minuto 4:51

  • @3:30.. round 11 indonesia.. can anyone tell me where was it exactly?? i'm from indonesia, by the way..

  • I can't even keep up with the verbal directions from the co-driver while I'm sitting here at my computer... rally drivers comprehend all of it WHILE DRIVING LIKE THIS. Jesus *#$%!& Christ!!!!!

  • I love how you could always hear that "fear " in Nicky's voice, almost as you can hear him thinking"what the hell is Colin going to do next"

  • @DustinBruce31 well the car is shaking alot and its harder to talk...so its not always that he is scared.maybe sometimes ;0

  • can anybody tell me what "plus" "minus" and "line" means?

  • @lebrida1234321 I´m not sure but I would say plus line is closer to the middle of curve and minus is outter line. Something like cut and don´t cut

  • @lebrida1234321 plus and minus is the fine tune the corner. Line means that you take a racing line into the corner, or take earlie entry to it, whatever you like.

  • @lebrida1234321 "plus" means the corner is a bit faster, "minus" means the corner is a bit slower. so a 4+ is faster than a 4, which is faster than a 4-. "line" means to get into the racing line asap or stay in the racing line. i.e. "line into 4 right" means to get to the far left side of the road approaching the right hander

  • R.I.P

  • a good driver

  • Holy shit look at the australia rally! This fucking jumps! ;]

  • it's pretty unique how he uses his left foot to brake

    very creative...

  • lol... that sarcasm?

  • @nigelbunganar

naw man serious... McRae used his left foot to brake... look it up

  • But how is that unique? 90% of racers do left foot braking, i do on circuit racing =P

  • everybody does that on rally cars.....

  • he was the pioneer man... remember the roots baby... all about the roots

  • The roots were in the 1960s, if not before. Finnish rally drivers were left-foot braking before McRae was born.

  • roots in the 90's? no way...

    Colin was great...

but Ari Vatanen comes first, man...

  • This was epic, got an adrenaline rush just sat on the sofa! I take my hat off to all rally pro's. the skill and balls of steel it must take to drive the car's flat out with that much control, dodging cliff edges and fans for that matter! is beggars belief!!!

  • Hm...wonder what's more difficult. F1 or rally racing? I'd have to guess rally racing is...

  • In terms of physical condition, F1 is quite harder. And that's coming from Sebastian Loeb.

  • like serously i make better passes on the freeway then people do in nascar.

nascar doesnt race in the rain on a banked track were there would be no puddles due to the fact that gravity would pulll the water off the track.

the seating positions in nascar are terrible half the drivers hold both hands of the steering wheel on one side.

their steering wheels look like they are off of semi's there so big.

  • The best passes are in the NASCAR truck series, not the Cup nor Cup Lite witch are kinda long and boring.

The steering wheel, like the COT, are based on some mid 60s Ford racecar, and not those fancy ones either.

The driver position is closer to the middle like on a DTM racecar.

Your car on the freeway doesn't lose downforce (and/or sideforce) when close to another car, nor does it suffer from the rubber line issue.

Witch are big problems in modern motorsport.

  • and yes my car on the autobahn does loose down force on the unrestricted secton whenever i go past semi's it also creats large side forced that try to push me into the guard rail.

also tracts like daytona don't have a problem with a rubber line because the whole track is coated in rubber after the first 50 laps.

nascar is gay its no fun to watch and i would rather have no dick then to watch nascar.

  • What car do you have that creates downforce ?!

    A Ferrari 458 or what ?!

Production car, with a few exceptions, create lift not downforce (negative lift).

Thus production cars when trailing another have more grip/less lift, as opposed to racecars were less downforce means less grip and poor balance.

That's not count the wake characteristics.

And you say all you want about NASCAR, the COT, the on-track racing, but the (top) drivers are very good, ditto for the top teams/staff.

  • after leaving the states and selling my 350z and my r6 i have a rx7 with a tall RE Amemiya GT2 carbon rear wing with a RE Amemiya N1 bumper with Zimax carbon canards a full RE Amemiya AD GT kit which includes the front wider fenders sides skirts and rear overfenders and a full rear and underchassi diffuser.

it is my street legal track car and even at 180k going past trucks it pushes the car to the side and whenever i tuck behind a truck i have 0 downforce and no grip due to susp set up

  • and i don't see how you can say that the group b rally cars sucked at handling why don't you watch "Audi Quattro Sport S1 Rally Group B "Total Tribute"

and tell me that car doesn't handle good

and i really doubt nascars could go 250 mph unless they had a bump draft partner around the whole track and did that for 30 laps making no mistakes what so ever.

  • nascar is for dummies

  • @PupleHaz420: I think nascar is so MUCH stupid competition! Pogs are more better :j

  • The jump section at 4.50 is probably one of the most famous sections of the Australia rally.. and the pictures of McRae's Subaru taking these jumps from outside the car also belong to the most famous pictures of McRae/Subaru ;)

  • how do i get started??

  • Without a codriver you're dead last or dead.

  • i wud get sick of the navigator talking.

  • You would be sick of first 3 gears then...

  • Legend.

    R.I.P.

  • RIP Colin!

  • lol 0:47

  • Colin and Suby...for ever...

  • Holy shit......I just noticed the H pattern gearbox!

  • hell yeah! Then they actually should know how to drive a car!! not today's wrc cars, like they are made for handicaped peapole...

  • Subaru could have had a sequential gear box but waited until 1999.

  • Indeed...and they gave it to Skoda too,so Skoda had it earlier

  • Actually it's an H pattern gearbox but it's a dog box which allows you to not to use the clutch while shifting. Only on road sections and 1st gear do they need it. Subaru could've had a sequential gear box but waited until 1999. Then they launched a semi automatic fly by wire one. It's a high pressure system that uses the standard H pattern layout but it uses a paddle shifter. They call it the dogs bollocks.

  • @rendezvous65 yeh and to add to that a dog box is reversed from what you would be used to in your road car, were as odds are down and evens are up. alot of the time Prodrive would evaluate the stage to see how many corners each gear was, ie oddsor evens, and simply adjust to suit as its easier to feel the gears connect when you are pushing away, nice but of fact you gave dude (Y) :)

  • @Greenwood4365 might even be true but watch @ 3:30 he starts in 1st gear (up), then puts 2nd (down).

  • Probably my favorite Colin onboard footages. Great car, great stages, great driving style and of course, great driver.

  • its like , 'Colin, you've reached the top mate! You took it as far as you can go man, you better start doing heroin or something man youve fucking maxed it out mate hahahahaaaa!!! If i ever feel shit bored or depressed, i watch this video, the bit from tminus 4:39 onwards, and im tellin ya, im buzzin my face off withing seconds of seeing that hyper hyper god damn ruthless motherfuking shit you did. Respect due the man knew no fear (:^D) peace'' thats what im sayin

  • t-minus 4:39 and counting; fucking poetry in motion

  • 4:52 omg huge jump

  • 3:55 to 4:25 - it's awesome

  • 70 6 left and 4 right means 70 meters to 6th gear left hand corner and a 4th gear right hand corner straight after.

Keep left over crest means keep to left of the road over a blind rise in the road.

  • lol... i dont understand any of these pace notes

  • rofl dont you understand left and right? :D

  • yeah.. but they say the and the accent dosent really help..lol

  • yes i understand you :)

    was just commenting for fun

  • I wish they would go back to using very little technology in the cars. The fancy diffs and gearbox really ruin the sport.

  • R.I.P. Colin.

    Great video!!

It totally blows being a rally fan in the US.

To all the Nascar Yahoos i know, id love to see Gordon or Dale jr, run just 1 stage!

  • hahaha.... yeah man.. im right there with you...

all these left-hand turn loving incesting bastards need to accept rally for the great sport it is.. im sure that there counld be awsome stages here in the us

  • Same here. I live in an area mostly populated by redecks and all I hear about with motorsports is Nascar. I think it's safe to say that rally car racing is about 5x more difficult, entertaining, and awe-inspiring that Nascar.

  • Also Gexter, if someone like Gordon or Dale Jr. (or any other Nascar driver) were to attempt a rally stage, it would only end in disaster. Most of them can hardly adapt to the twice-a-year road course races hahaha.

  • Gordon won road course races.

As did other NASCAR drivers, even going up against guys who raced on road courses.

    Dale Jr. is over-rated though.

  • the reason that nascar drivers could beat road coarse drivers is the road corse drivers equitment was sub par compared to that of gordans or the other winners of that time and the fact that nascars are on of the worst handling race cars ever made everything about them sucks.

  • Gordon is great driver.

As for bad handling cars, the Group B rally cars weren't very good handling or friendly. Their chassis didn't matched the power and torque, and that's what made them popular and rally racing too.

Yes the COT NASCAR racecars are horrible, but the drivers and team staff/engineers/mechanics are good.

  • how are the the staff/engineers/mechanics are good whenever they run out of gas all the time have horrible tire stratigies. as for the actually pit crew tire changers they are pretty good with what they work with.

  • Tire and fuel issues are a common thing in endurance racing; and it used to be the same in F1 before 1994.

Ayrton Senna ran out of fuel, ditto Jim Clark and Jack Brabham, and so on.

You don't have inboard sensors in the COT, and strategy is also very dependent on cautions. If the Excel spreadsheet show an average of X amount of cautions at racetrack A, but a fluke occurs and there's X-2 cautions, you than have a problem.

Some NASCAR engineers worked in F1 and/or other sports before.

  • 1994 which was also 15 years ago.

nascar still uses a solid axle(which is compleate junk)

4 speed gear box(which is probably the most out dated equitment next to the rear axle)

their motors are carberated which is junk(i think i heard their finialy changing it)

if someone gets sideways in nascar they throw a cation.

in nascar a pass consists of just driving around someone on the inside or outside they don't even set people up going into a corner.

  • you could make a street car out handle nascars for half the money

i race dirt oval go-karts and i still think nascar sucks its soooo borring the races are so dull and long,

the only one nascar race i don't mind watching is bristol because people actually have to out drive someone instead of just drive around them on a huge banked corner

  • All true, the car is crap. But for the sanctioning body, that's the point. In their view a crappy car will require superior driving skill.

They are not motorsport (a.k.a. racing improves the breed), they're racertainment.

And rally took this path too, by banning active differentials, capping the engine boost and so on.

  • Modern F1 suspensions are passive and are based on a 1960 design.

The semi-active and active suspensions on 80s and 90s in F1 were far more advanced.

F1 also banned Traction Control, LC, ABS, power braking, 4 wheel drive, 4 wheel steering, eCVT transmissions, variable valve timing, flexi wings, movable spoilers/wings, ground-effect undertrays.

    Production car transmission and suspensions

are more advanced then in F1.

And the '92-'93 F1 racecars are the most advanced ever.

  • so instead of the car winning races it is (yes i know the car does mean ALOT but it is mostly the driver winning like for instance when braun GP was owning then (and i really know what happend regulations probably had to do something with it) every other team started owning them because their drivers suck and the second lewis hamlton got a good car he started winning again.

  • capping the engine boost was a good idea because now everytime someone crashes in rally they don't die like in group B.

and withought traction control and all the other stuff you mention i am glad its gone because now instead of a computer driving the car you have the driver a steering wheel a driver and downforce and thats it(very simplicit but nothing compared to all the other things you named)

  • Why is OK for rally cars to be dumb-ed down, without TC, active diffs and Co., witch are found in production cars today (or will be), but NASCAR is criticized ?!

NASCAR has a heavy, brick like car, with live axle suspensions (and restrictor plates) to stop it from going too fast and be a danger as well as to "promote driving skill", the same way rally has now non-active diffs, capped engines and so on.

It seem rally fans have double standards.

  • As to Grand Prix/F1 Grand Prix racing.

Ferenc Szisz didn't the win first official Grand Prix in 1906 because he was the best driver, it's because his car was reliable and more advanced, and he could do pit stops in 2-3 minutes (detachable wheel rims) when others need 15 minutes.

The other drivers lost the same way Massa lost the WDC in 2008, at the pits.

Grand Prix racing was conceived for the car manufactures to develop technology and promote themselves/sell cars.

  • why in the helll would nascars need traction control? and its diffrent going threw a windy twisty road inches away from trees rocks and 100ft sheer cliffs compared to a 2.5 mile oval with huge bankings and saffer berriors that is a big diffrence.

and you do realize practicly EVERYTIME did you hear that EVERY TIME a group B rally car would crash the driver and copilot would die in a what cant even be wrecknized as a car any more?

  • compared to nascar who's last death was because of seat belt failer wasn't it? i could be wronge but thats what i remember it being called and most other nascar deaths in the late 80 up were do to part faluirs like when adcox grant died do to his seat being improperly mounted and beaking off. or Bruce Jacobi rollcage falure J. D. McDuffie balljoint failure.

    contenuid

  • but all these could have been prevented had they been proper safty checked.

but now tell me how you could keep a human being alive after hitting a tree sideways at over 100 miles an hour besides slowing the cars down?

because if there if a way you might want to tell NASA sell your idea to all car manufacturs airplane manufactures and become the richest person in the world in a matter of days.
