  • I never had the chance to play this when the Nintendo 64 came out and also I don't think at the time I was very into RPG style games but this video has made me want to try it out. :D

  • I loved this game so much!!! I found this vid becuz i was bored and was lookin up lets play vids!!!! Now i need to break out 64 again!!!!!

  • the battle music sounds like final fantasy 7 battle music

  • You know, what these reviewers are forgetting, is that this game came out in 1998. So complaining is pointless. Just saying.

  • you sound like napoleon dynamite when you are talking quietly

  • I payed $3 dollars for this game. I feel like I will like this game....

  • fuck this game

    i hated it

  • when you talk fast you sound like the main kid from how to train your dragon.lol

  • i have great memories of playing this game though when i was a kid i had no idea where to go xD and i always though monster were gonna pop up in the castle

  • this ga\me suck shuge coick

  • I love your voice, Mr. McGammar. Very soothing.

  • Brian for Super Smash Bros. 4!!!

  • Omg I always did water and earth !!!! Couldnt beat the game without shield , health or avalanche !!!!!

  • you sound spazzy

    JUST LIKE ME!!! ^w^

    i want this game

  • I remember my bro and I would rent this game, Smash Bros., and Perfect Dark from this little movie/video game rental place. It no longer exists :(. Good times though! Aw..they even sold ice cream cones...... Miss that place.

  • I played this game a lot as a kid. I would always put the spirits into water to get healing lv 2 then into earth to get magic barrier. This was a great game.

  • This game received alot of hate, but to be honest I dident find it all that bad. The olny complaint's I have is the story could of been developed alot more and it could of been less linear. I think if they gave it abit more work before it was released it could of been great.

  • I loved this game! I played it multiple times through as a kid. First experience with an RPG. Thanks for posting it. I no longer feel the need to waste my life playing it over again. I can now vicariously enjoy Quest 64 in all it's excitement by watching your fun videos. And you are pretty funny too. (I can't believe I'm watching a video of a guy playing a video game and enjoying it!)

  • GRIEF Grief grief...

  • This game brings me back to my childhood. I loved watching my older brother play this as a kid. The music is so great also. thank you for posting this.

  • quest 64 is a pretty bad game. But for those of us who played it in our childhood it will forever be remembered and loved. I can admit it's a bad game but it's still a lot of fun to play. and for those unaccustomed to this game. They are not messing around, if you don't know how to survive with only a small set number of healing items you will be owned.

  • Yeah, I'm part of the crowd who got lost instantly when I started playing.

  • I got this game when I was seven or eight and could barely read. I had no idea what was going on the whole time. It did teach me the definition of obtain, though.

  • I like this, 5 Stars!

  • i remember renting this from the blockbuster and being completely lost

  • @bluereaper75 ME TOO, i rented this when i was like 9, i just remember walking around and being completely lost as to what to do lol

  • I miss playing this game with my family.

  • i loved this game, how have the response been so far? good or bad, cause i really loved this game.

loved the comment about how memory cards sucked back when you didn't have emulators. lol

  • i loved this game, how have the response been so far? good or bad, cause i really loved this game.

  • I remember when i got this game at Toys R' Us. I was 8 and didn't understand a thing about rpg's so at first I didn't like it. Then about 2 years later I had gotten used to them so I tried this one and I absolutely loved it. Sucks I never beat it though.

  • @YoungDrizzle215 just go emulate it and beat it now.

  • None of my friends know about this game, and it makes me awfully sad. This was my childhood.

  • Played this once as a kid at my cousin's, have been looking for it ever since!

  • This game's great but it really pissed me off with the massive hallways I think I remember a hallway taking over an hour.

  • I tried playing this when I was little and almost started crying when I couldn't open the very first door in the game. xD

  • Also. This game may be a bit on the lacking side - it still had it's charm. Loving the person doing the ''Let's Play'' he has one of those personalities alot of people wish they had. The carefree, I am me, I say funny things even if they aren't funny all the time and still laugh with a smile :D. I envy people like you >:

  • For those who complain about him narrating everything. Stfu. It's his video. His time he spent contributing to the audience. You guys are so pro at being ignorant. I swear.

  • Man... when I got a GameCube, I was actually sad that I waould 'deviate' away from this game....

Imagine how I felt when I saw what most people thought of it.....

  • I love the game although, the camera angles are terrible

  • e ue ..The Grand Abbott always looked like an animal, to me, back when I was a kid... XD I like him better as what I imagined back then. XDD

  • although people say this game is the worst RPG ever i actually think its...at least...decent. the two main problems that really hold this game back is the CONSTANT battles. and you might be able to just not mind about the constant battles...but its really hard when you have no idea where to go half the time and that most of the levels are giant mazes and you get a battle every 5-6 seconds... if only there was at least some way to skip the battles, like making the enemies visible or something

  • i remember playing this when i was 4-7 lol

  • i liked this game, but the problem with it for me is it made me dizzy every single time i tried to play it.... i rented it 3 times ove the course of my N64 days and each time it made me dizzy for w/e reason so i could never finish the game and never considered buying it as a result.

  • It's not like we're blind - you don't have to narrate EVERYTHING that is going on! You even narrate written dialogue.

  • @ApsanaRose

Some of us who watch have vision problems and really appreciate the fact that he reads the written dialogue, especially with how blurry some of it comes out on YouTube before the days of higher quality videos were possible. Stop being an ass and THINK!

  • @MidnightRose07 You MUST have vision problems if you played this game.

  • you know, I remeber this game...I remember never being able to do anything but wack enemies with my staff

  • One of my favourite battle musics of all time. All the music is great, actually.

  • One of the coolest games ever.

  • i loved this game! i just got it again! fun as HELL!

  • lol i played this as a little kid and had no idea what i was supposed to do

  • nostalgia hard!!!

i had poor reading skills back then and had no idea what to do

  • @conkerzone I felt your pain... I got rid of the game because i was confused, but now I want it again...

  • 01:58 I love McGammar :D

"Yay, theft! Wait, that's not yay... Ahhh!"

  • I've been trying to think of the name of this game for years now. I loved playing it when I was younger :)

  • this game... THIS GAME... was a part of my pre-teen years. (which was back in 2001) i could never understand the game but its fun to play

  • MMMM WIngs.

  • Hooray for Larceny! Never heard of this game. Looks interesting. Reminds me of Fire Emblem stroryish wise. N64 didn't have many RPG's did it?

  • all we know is that hes a virgin

  • " 17 " is a number not a word. Now " seventeen, " that's a different story.

  • I 'met' this game like 9 or 10 years ago, but I couldn't get it because of the language (I'm Mexican, I didn't speak English back then... Now I do, I'm almost 20), but I liked it even though. Now I have downloaded it and I like it so much. I think it's very good, nice story and it has a good gameplay.

  • lol, this game. So, so so awful.

  • I loved this game! brings back so many memories especially the outdoors music! :D

  • @Ayzee001 i think everyone who has ever play`d this game loves this song you mentioned

  • I loved this game!

  • Dat music.

  • I love this game! And im still playing it :p

  • lol i could never get past the first village in this game

  • This game is my definition of "Atmosphere" & "Nostalgia". One of the best games for N64, I don't care what anyone else says.

  • God I remember this game! It has been so damn long! Now I just need to remember the other game. May have been this one though. I remember a valley with a river in it and a place where the battle field goes into darkness, with a wooden floor...

  • Aw! I remember playing this game when I was little! <3 It was one of my favorites. Thanks for posting! ^_^

  • Whats sad is that you could make a better RPG yourself in RPG Maker than this game.

  • qual hair!

  • i had this game when i was like 8 but was too stupid to know how to play it. and i was reminded by it from another youtube video and typed in quest 64 lets platy and ended up here. i hope this is a good lets play

  • did u know that in the barn u want to to get the bread there was a elemt level up in a coner?

  • #lol

  • you know brian is just "SO HAPPY" -words from nintendocaprisun

  • this game really isn't that bad... really not as bad as most reviewers say it is... my problem with the game is that you do a battle, then a few steps later theres another battle...

  • man i wish i culd play this game right now :(

  • i havent played this game sins 1999

  • Beat this game to the soundtrack of OKComputer. Loved every minute. So modern emulators STILL can't reproduced the jaw dropping colored lighting that are present in some N64 games like Quest 64? I remember the town being these awesome hues of orange and purple as day turned to night. Turok 2 has the same problem I believe. It's sort of there but not to the extent it was on the N64.

  • your emulator was sped up

  • I have so much love and apreciation to this game, I loved it and enjoyed it sooooo many times and now watching this videos, the nostalgy hits me very hard, I'll try to watch them all, and then plug in my 64 and Quest 64 cartridge.

It's cool to watch these videos with a narrator, I like your voices!

  • with so many low ratings for this game it makes me wonder why i ever buy high rated games

  • i have a white cape like picciolo had in dbz is that normal

  • loved this game so much.... i got pretty far but never beat it >.<''

  • ...i think i played this when i was younger...but i'm having a hard timie remembering the old games i played when i was younger...i just remembered what the name of my favorite game was which was Astal for the sega saturn...

  • I remember renting this game and not having a memory card. I was pissed, but I played it anyway and just left my N64 on when I went to bed instead of saving. I managed to beat the whole game without saving or turning the game off 0.o.

  • Ah, my youth! This was one of the games we had for 64 back in the days. My brother played it more than me, so i just watched him. This let's play gonna bring back some fond memories for me.

  • think this would have been an awesome game if they spent a few more months on it

  • Awesome, dude! This game is practically the ONLY GOOD GAME that THQ has ever published because one of my favorite obscure Japanese developers, Imagineer Co.Ltd. developed and published this game in Japan.

  • Just looked up this LP by random. You seem like a good LPer. +1 sub for you!

  • awesomely fun game, but difficult and confusing in the caves :P

  • I have this game.. and played it today!

Got to the firt boss.. he kicked my butt badly. ugh.

  • Earth = difficult to aim, but good strength

Wind = almost never misses, but weak

Fire = very powerful, but you must be close to an enemy to use it

Water = can't win without it because it heals

  • McGrammer First 7 spirtis to water then next 50 to rock...easier sade then done makes the avalance m.barrier combo so sweet maxed out and its pretty much unbeatable, really Magic Barrier is unfair....lol.

  • i remember this game...='( it broke my n64

  • I made it to Nepty, but she kicked my arse EVERY TIME, so I gave up.

By the way, is it BOLTAGE, or VOLTAGE McGammar?

  • OMG I remember renting this game when I was younger! XD I had no idea what to do - so I just stayed in the village because whenever I ventured out - I died. LOL

  • @AlyssaElric lmaoo same here XD

  • I played this game as a child, and ALWAYS failed miserably at it. XD Yay for failure as a kid!

  • Wow, The main character shares my name . :P

I'd go with water and wind but that's just me.

  • @MissingnoTheGreat thats what im doin :P

  • Never played it myself...I think I should get it on emulator though, especially considering the main character shares my name...

  • I haven't played Quest 64 in over ten years. I think it's time to play it again.

  • I'm not sure why they settled on pink, grey and beige for the text boxes instead of something more simple yet better looking like OoT's.

  • @Aldaraia666 I'm sure the pink outline is a rendering glitch on the emulators part.

  • McGammar, you rock for playing this game

  • I loved the avalance spell haha

  • is this like a rip of dragon quest? lol

  • Seems like it a little. Especially because of the white wings. If I recall there was a item in Dragon Warrior that was similar.

  • this game reminds me of dragon quest but music and art is different. man i love dragon quest

  • I played this game when I was younger. It was allright, but I thought it was a pretty average, generic RPG. Like he said, there was not much of a story.

The whole game was very linear. It was basically "get to this next town so that I can beat the boss that's terrorizing the town and then I can move on to the next town and repeat".

  • I used to love this game (when i had a N64) good times :D

  • W8 a minute... N64 had memory cards?

  • Sarcasm? haha

  • no shit you put them into the back of the controllers

  • yes, it did. It's not like PS though, where the memory card fits in a slot on the console itself, the N64 memory card would be inserted in the back of the controller. The same slot where you would put a rumble pak, if you had one (not used in this game though)

  • I personally think the best way to get this game done is to alternate between melee and magic, soften up the foe and unleash hell basically.

  • Hey dude i'm doing a quest 64 let's play maybe you should check it out and see if it's good

just no bad comments like "mine's better than yourrs" okay?

  • i hated this game so much

  • me to but i didn't know how to play.

  • your emulator in the intro was WAY sped up, which explains why the text and music were so fast... lol

  • Yay peace!

But then something that stopped the music

Yay theft!-- no waiit that's not yay xD

  • 7:22 no shes gay...200 of tem

  • The Begis Mk 5 will destroy all.

  • Brian. The most epic name ever.

Does anyone else think of Monty Python when they hear that name?

  • lol this is the true life of brian.

  • I remember when I first played this game... I got stuck on the monastery's exterior. O_o Round and round Brian went.... Didn't occur to 8 year old me to find a slope. >>; Good game though. A tad thin plotwise, but the combat's unique.

Thanks for the LP. This popped up on my recommended videos. ^^ Nostalgia strikes again.

  • yay theft! lol!

  • for some reason this game gave me nightmares

  • dude. i loved this game as a kid. i'd probably still love it if i played it. however, i love how the intro implies that this is a very VERY typical rpg. 'one night, however, the monastery fell under an evil spell with the theft of an ancient book' etc etc. i found it amusing

  • Holy Shit I love this game, I got super far when I was little but didnt beat it, then played it a year ago and kicked the games ass. only thing i hate is that you cant ride a hores and you have to watch his faggot little run the while time

  • This game was orgasmic in the day before I got a gamecube... even then...

  • Most underrated game of all time

  • agreed

  • @WakerOfTheWinds93 no, that's Mischief Makers. This is up there though.

  • @WakerOfTheWinds93 no gotcha force is

  • @WakerOfTheWinds93

NO, IT'S A BAD GAME AND YOU SHOULD FEEL BAD.

  • Jeez! It's not pronounced like Seltland! Hard C poeple. I do love this game though, and I think McGammar is funny with his voice acting.

  • Is it just me, or does Brian look A LOT like The Kid from I Wanna Be The Guy?

  • when i was younger i was never able to leave the castle.... :[

  • Another RPG that takes advantage of randomly burging into people's houses and taking their stuff. :-)

  • I would make a zelda reference, but alas, it is not an RPG... LoZ 2 is, but you dont break in and steal other peoples things...

  • I dunno, a "day of grief" doesn't sound all that intimidating.

  • O yeah mcGammer idk if anyone has said this but the staff is the most powerful, just the downside is its melee

  • Glad I found an LP of this to watch... always loved this game, even though all my friends said it sucked.

  • One of my favorite games, this'n. :D

  • why isint this game on the wii VC yet!!!!

  • creepiest thing when I got this game, main character has my name and looks remarkably like me O.o (back then anyways)

Very fun game, thank you for doing an LP of it.

  • i alwya wanted thjis game as a kid but never gotr it

  • i noticed the kid opens chests like the kid in kingdom of hearts

  • Awesome game, but frickin' hard!

  • one of the best games ever for me,they should make a new version with better graphics

  • This was one of my favourite games. =D

  • tell me do you like this game cuz it looks vary fun

  • i love this game its fun

  • Never played this game, so i watched the lets play

  • I like Water and Wind :D Err well I like them all but still.

  • i loved this game

  • This looks intresting

  • This game is awsome and this guy doesnt know what he is talking about.Fire has the most attack but like most rpgs enemys weakness. This game is more of a classic game like Ys.Magic Barrier owns lol

  • So is this game good?

I remember we bought Ocarina of Time instead of this game and my parents said that in their next paycheck they would buy me Quest but that never happened.

  • It's... Ah... It's okay. It's better than reviews would leave you to believe, fun at times yet frustrating at others.

  • Yeah, it looks fun but still I wish I had it back then when I was a kid with the rest of my collection of N64 games.

What sucked was that I got played too, I thought I was going to be able to play Ocarina of Time right as soon as I got home but they fucking deprived me of it till Christmas.

  • @McGammar i played this it was so fun when i was 5 lol but i culd never beat the first boss lol

  • This game is fun!

    "Yay theft!"

  • I like this game alot.

  • meh peace throughout a rpg would be boring ... right?

  • Yeah I know. I liked this game
