  • BTW, I had an engine builder do all the building who is also a Corvette owner. I also have been doing some work myself since the engine was installed. Not a true mechanic per se but your videos are very helpful. Thanks.

  • Great video on distributer install. Built all new motor for my 1987 Corvette, 355 ci. Double Roller Rocker Timing Chain and Gears, Flat Tapet Pistons 10.5:1 compression, Flat Tapet Valves, all hydraulic. CompCams Hydraulic Flat Tappet Cam. Machined L98 Heads & 1.6 Stainless Roller Rockers, new valves, guides, and springs. Machined Runner's and Plenum. Having to replace the Pickup Coil meant removable of Dist., I hesitated. This video gives me the courage to do so. Thanks.

  • hey i have a 1995 ford f150 4.9l v6 manual transmission,, is there any luck for this engine to make look as impressive as the on on the vid? and if so, how much would something like that cost?

  • Okay. Thanks. I just sent her to the shop today because I was tired of buying parts and experimenting with her.

  • Please help. I was told that I put my distributor in the wrong way because when now my 86 firebird backfires through the carb. I made sure that the rotor was on cylinder 1 and the firing order is correct which is 18436572. Thanks guys

  • @7233910 Keep in mind when the distributor falls in, because of the gear mesh, the rotor will move on you as you drop the distributor, you can usually compensate for it since it will turn as you drop it in. Best bet is to call in- 915-855-7123

  • The video would be much better if you didnt have crappy music playing over the guys talking!

  • wow wow wow there chevy guy..your statement is false about ford dist...the only way that will happen on a ford is if someone else already had the motor apart and discarded the clip that is on the oil pump shaft....what you said makes it sound like all fords do this and they do not and scare someone of they own a ford and wanted to pull the dist..i lost count of all the ford motors i have ripped apart and never once lost a oil pump shaft

  • @390merc65 Well I just did before watching this video :( pulled up the dist... and clink clink down it went... now wtf do I do? :(

  • @PuzzleSolver if you are working on a ford v8 and that happened,,then someone else had the motor apart at one time before you got it and they did not put the clip on ..if you have the motor out just remove the oil pan and get the shaft..and dont forget to put the clip on the shaft..

  • @390merc65 WooohooO! Finally got that damn thing out! Now to line everything up and put it all back in place... I had no clip in there... so I used super glue to the distributor shaft

  • nice

  • awesome, I feel confident on tackling my distributor swap on my sbc now. Thanks guys!

  • Hello, I thank you for the in depth how-to. I have a question regarding compatibility. My local mechanic says that I need a new distributor. So instead of getting a direct OEM replacement, I was wondering whether I could get one of these nice MSD distributors. The problem is that I have a 3.0L V6 Dodge G672 (Mitsubishi Built). I am confused as to what kind of distributor I can use. Can I use one of your V6 distributors that are "for Chevy's"? Does it have to be a "Dodge distributor"? Thanks.

  • Hi I need your oppinion.

I just had my Distributor O-ring replace as it was leaking oil. It is still leaking out oil . its appears its comming from the side of the distrubutor houseing where it meets the engine block. Is it due to fail to line up the distrubutor houseing to the engine block excatley???

  • @Sweetdeno22 It sounds like it wasn't seated all the way down.

What did the problem turn out to be? Please tell.
