Do you know Mar Toma Odo? He mentions in his 1906 book page 168 that Assyrians called themselves Suraye and not Suryaye? And that Suraya was driven from Aturaya as the initial a was dropped and the t (th) changed to Aturaya an s as it has been customary in many places.
