  • Wow thanks man for showing this! I just started to wet sand my freshly painted DuPont chromaclear clear coat and was scared as hell when all I saw was 1500 grit marks, and thought I just went through it.

    Guess I was wrong!

  • @makexxx Whoa! Why are YOU wet sanding your freshly painted car??? If the paint job wasn't finished, why didn't the guy who you paid to paint the car finishing the job???

  • That's cool I appreciate your video , I know you are old school I'm the same way I just use my hand most of the time because when you use orbiter some time time you will need to go over it with your hand because the hook it 2 grids in the back of the sanding paper it makes alot of circles . Just giving my opinion and I really think your videos are one the best on you tube , your explanation is very precise and high quality video . Thanks again .

  • @Magaleh79 Thanks for watching. :)

  • Great job , but it would be easier and it will work better if you use that 3000 paper wet not Dry even if you are using the orbiter

    Thanks .

  • @Magaleh79 I agree. I was just experimenting with it to see what would happen.

  • Thanks for demonstrating

  • Thanks for the info excellent vids, but may I recommend so editing in future videos?!?! Other wise awsome!

  • @bubbethesponge I would, but then my videos would be just like everyone elses videos. People like the fact that I take the time to show all that I do. I wish that people who made videos would do that also. Since they don't, I do!

  • @Junkman2000 True story.. I like your work.. you're showing the real deal.

  • @jbl5342 Thanks!

  • @bubbethesponge Yes but ppl watch this video instead some other polished up videos exactly because he does all his stuff in real time. You don't miss a single thing. When I was learning buffing from my "buffing mentor" (holla at you andre; it is all in the wrist!) while working at a dealership, I would miss certain things while watching him and due to this when my time would come to do the same thing, I would mightly screw up the paint. Those 5min videos just dont achieve what this video does.

  • even when wet (which is how i do it) those trizact pads lose their edge after a few panels....if you are doing a whole car with the same pad you will notice about half way through that you have to work it like 3 times as long to get the same initial results...i usually go through 3 sets of paper per grade for a whole car.....sanding by hand is better, but if you have a significant amount of sanding to do, a DA with trizact 1500 and 3000 is the bomb diggity.....if your proficient with a DA

  • @richiez7

I agree with you there. I however, don't ever plan to do an entire car! A scratch is all I care to experience.

  • I understand the 3000 trizact will do a complete car or two when used wet, they last maybe 15 times as long wet as they do dry. It's a good thing they last so long wet because they aren't cheap, eh ?!

  • @67dodgepolara I don't know as I wouldn't sand an entire car. Way more work than you will get out of me. You are right though, that paper is sky high in price. I won't be buying another box!

  • Hey Junkman2000 I really liked your videos! Very informative and relevant. Cheers from Canada

  • @borderline666

Thank you sir, and thanks for watching!

  • Damn. I wish I'd come across these vids before I attempted my first ill fated wetsanding. They're bloody fantastic. I'm inspired to have another go now :)

  • @HoratioBungle

You have a hint of British in your post! lol!

  • @Junkman2000 It's that because of the bloody thing? lol!

  • @mijek

    Yep!

  • that trizact 3000 is meant to be used with a light mist of water I believe...

  • You are probably correct. That was the first time that I had ever used it and nobody has shown me how to yet. It was more of an experiment. Kind of a costly one...!

  • @Junkman2000 It was a good video, I wasn't trying to be critical. The guys that use these trizact discs tell me they last a very long time when used wet... I'm still getting the hang of it...

  • Oh no, I didn't take it as being critical at all. I appreciate your input! Please, feel free to add your comments at any time.

  • A friend of mine started working at this one bodyshop and began to wet sand and the shop owner laughed at him and said we don't wet sand in this shop only dry sand.

I'm with you with the waste of paper because it does clog very fast.

  • Most body shops are in it for the money, not the love. I understand their business model and that's why I don't work at one. My father was in it for both back when pride in the final product was the norm. It's hard to find people like that nowadays.

  • @foxybrown2

I hope you're not saying that that body shop dry sanded clear coat are you? if so then that body shops paint work must look like garbage!

  • @bingbong609 no that not true you can dry sand clear coat using a da sander and it does not look like crap alot of professional shops do use the drysanding method

look on the internet for da sanding of clear coat by 3m and maguire

  • you make incredible videos but i do have a suggestion for uisng ur trizact sanding disks. I heard in a detailing forum of somebody using those disks but they used them wet. They wet the paint and the disk and then sanded away. In case u still had those hiding in a corner somewhere. Anyway, just a suggestion and thanks for the tips.

  • You know, I was thinking about doing that but thanks a bunch for the feedback. I don't know it all and any help is always appreciated. Thanks again!

  • I am with him. I said to myself "that's a sh*t load of clean man" hahah

  • I almost like the old school wet sanding with the 2500,3000 best. When you frist started to grind on it i must admit I was was scared. lol and I'm not doing anything but watching LOL! U have balls man !

  • lol!

It's my daily driver so there was nothing to worry about. The thing bearly has any floorboards!
