@clingrivers MintyFreshBeats has put Jay Z and Radiohead, quite similar rappers in terms of their technique in a way. The Paranoid Android/Dirt Off Your Shoulder mash is epic and so too is the one with I Might Be Wrong. look up jaydiohead its really good stuff :$
@Dunderhead36 ....Why because he doesn't rock some stupid emo cut? You must have missed the memo that Radiohead is a legit band of musicians and not some studio-built pop act created to sell you Mountain Dew and Xtreme Doritos. Focus less on how you think people should look and more on music and some day you will get it maybe. Lady Gaga is ----->
I love these guys!!! Finally, someone wrote a song about me. hahaha... I'm an Optimist. I love the beat and the whole arrangement in this song. AWESOME! Very brilliant!
what if radiohead would've done pablo honey and been out? been a one hit wonder and a twenty second clip on a vh1 show countdown. your life would've sucked, mine would've been slightly better but still very empty. just a thought. cause the convos underneath mine.
Radiohead were more defining than Nirvana. I'd rather listen to Pixies than Nirvana. Go have a listen to Ok Computer. I think you'll find Radiohead were miles ahead of Nirvana in 90's. Just my opinion :)
You're mising my point. more than half of Radiohead's albums were in the '00s and all Nirvana's were in the 90's.. I'm not comparing the two at all merely stating their influence overall in said decades and genres.
Ok I understand. There's no doubting Nevermind's influence in 90's. But equally you could argue that The Bends and Ok Computer had such a massive impact on soooo many bands.
This is true but I did say their specific genres aswell. Radiohead isn't a Grudge band and Nirvana an Alt Rock band. Nevertheless I own both Bands full catalogue because I love them both, never heard a Pixies song though, are they like Nirvana? And while we're at it what's your favourite RH album? For me it's a toss up betwixt The Bends and OK Comp.
Yeh good point. I mean they were simply just both massive bands in 90's. Well I think Kurt said jokingly he should have been a member of Pixies and that they heavily heavily influenced them...so yeh you should give them a listen. Def Ok Computer. No other album comes close for me. What other bands do u like form 00's? I love Arcade Fire and Grizzly Bear.
I grew very disinterested and disatisfied with music in general in the '00s. It was like the '80s all over again with music I loved being replaces the new romantics. But now it's Rap, fucking septics and this lady gagreflex or whatever his name is with writing teams of 20 people writing generic songs that have no meaning nor purpose other than to sound the same as the one before. I'm sorry I'm really dropping the tone I just hate americans and rap etc. the '00s haven't been all bad though.
I enjoy MUSE, they're like RH in their Kid A days. But my music taste is like most really broad, I like whatever appeals to me, y'know bits of this bits of that. There's really only 2 bands that I enjoy listening to EVERY song in their whoel catalogue and that's SOAD and Rammstein, not sure why I just like them all.
@Jorzbalzla You can't imagine Nirvana without the Pixies! They're essential to the alternative rock movement in the 90's. They simply laid the groundwork. And OK Computer is no doubt my favorite RH album
@hendrix142536 you cant compare nirvana to radiohead! they were only around from roughly 89 to 94! with only 3 major albums! of course there was no development for them, cobain fucking shot himself before that could happen! lol
@UBCS98 I was in no way compering Nirvana to RH... Nirvana has appealed to many.. but in a simplistic grunge way
hearing all radiohead's albums suggests that they have evolved.. from simple punk-ish music to complex and emotionally-inspiring music... my favorite band ever, awaiting the next album
I think In Rainbows is there most well balanced album. From start to finish it flows perfectly, so many differnt colours all brought together in one amazing vision. This isnt suposed to be a typicaly aloof radiohead comment, its just the way I feel.
OKC and Kid A are completely different pieces of music. Comparisons are futile. I personally like them both for totally different reasons. Both are the best of each decade.....
@1964go Great comment! Few agree with me, but OK Computer is (in my humble opinion) the best album of the 90´s. I´m no Radiohead fanatic, but I think it has a lot of diversity in sounds, and is very well constructed, mixing electronic with jazz and rock and other layers. And the lyrics in that album are magnificent. You can´t find lyrics as good as Radiohead´s in any other band. That´s definitely one of the strong points of Radiohead.
There aren't very many bands that gel quite as well when you actually sit and watch them in this setting. Try any of Jeff Buckley's live stuff as well. You see it there too but to a different extent.
i disagree. radiohead is able to make entire albums work. my personal favorite is Hail to the Thief and i can only listen to the entire album at a time =)
@oldskoolchomp Excluding Pablo Honey, You can find at least 8 good songs in each album ( OK Computer and In Rainbows are exception, every single song is good enough)
@tsteak9 they were formed in 1989, after studying music in Oxford(i hope i'm not mistaken), and all the energy you need comes either from the sun or from you.
