I've watched several of your videos and I have to agree with what most of the other people say..you have a great outlook on tourettes and a positive enough attitude to deal with it instead of making it into something bad.You are a true inspiration to others that have to deal with this for sure. And,you're also a VERY pretty young lady and I'm sure, no doubt fun to be around as well.Thank you for posting these vids and teaching others about this at the same time. You ROCK girl!!!
I love your lemon analogy. I like to eat lemons too.
I do not have Tourette's, but I love all your videos and I totally relate becuase I have PTSD and some mild aphasia, which includes some also mild echolalia. But my point was, you rock, and your videos are both really informative and make me happy. Digging the green hair.
Yes you are correct. I believe south park is a very brilliant tv satire show. You can only appreciate it if you think about the depth of the concept behind it.
The fact that youre a sci-fi nerd with green colored hair makes you even more adorable and i totally agree with you, just because something is made fun of dosent mean it isent understood, like that south park episode. Even thogh i think Eric only felt sorry for himself. Btw yore squeking is really cute to me, sorry just cant help it.
I have a slightly different POV. For me, Tourette's DOES include random, loud extremely embarassing swearing. I hit myself, I jerk so much I can barely walk at times. And idiots at school love to laugh when they think I can't hear. But they're just that, idiots. I do not exactly appreciate people who fuel ignorance about TS. I do appreciate people who speak out about the truth, like you lotz of curlz, but in my opinion, mockery doesn't help. It does a lot worse to people than swearing.
@pckid17 but the fact I looked/sounded completely different was mentioned lol. I also have to point out that ostracism varies based upon culture, local, and gender, so your experiences will be unique to your situation. Also, blaming someone's sense of self, instead of those who target them, isn't exactly good for said self-worth.
Lol there are two separate issues here. I agree that people should not take themselves too seriously, and that shows such as south park create discussions about the topic, which is important. That being said, if someone gets ripped on for having tourettes, it's not necessarily because of self-loathing. It is inherent within us to form packs with similar people. This causes people to rally against those who are different. I can tell you that self image had nothing to do with me being beat up, bu
I am doing a little bit of research on Tourettes, and I was looking for some examples on YT to help me get a better understanding. I found it frustrating running into some of the vids that made fun. And a few times, I couldn't really tell if they were real or just a few buddies looking for an excuse to yell bad things out loud. So from my POV, it is really annoying, all the fake videos. Looking forward to watching some more of your singing. I love your voice!
"Someone who hates themselves and is constantly reminding them why their life sucks doesn't make anyone happy."
My thoughts exactly (oh, irony).
My mind might constantly keep reminding me how useless I am & how much I hate myself & how I'm a lost cause and all that jazz, but around other people I always smile and try to do my best to make sure they're ok.
Both frowns and smiles are infectious, so eventually it'll make me feel better too. ;-)
I really appreciate your attitude and perspective. It is very refreshing. I encourage you to keep being so positive...you seem so smart and I think you are going to go a long way and continue to inspire many people. Youre awesome!
Mad TV makes fun of my disability also. There's this guy named Stewart and I believe he's autistic as well. But he doesn't phase me. He shouts all the time, has a high voice and mentions his dark place. "What are we having for dinner?"
I've found that many of those comments against the TS jokes say, "I know someone with TS and that's upsetting..." - well, I have TS and I usually like them. When I don't like them, it's because I didn't find it funny, not for being offensive.
Formed a Facebook club called All 4 One gang. It's about being equal and educating others about the hardships you have faced or are facing already. Any disability is welcome. If you want to join give me a buzz on my channel, have to be on Facebook though. If you can't go tell others your stories about what you face everyday. You'll have the All 4 One spirit shine in every one of you.
I totally agree with you, what you feel toward yourself influences what others feel about you, just like how awkwardness is only what you make it.
And I do find a lot of the tourette's videos to be funny, except in the case of the "tourettes guy" videos, where I can't stand the stereotyping, but like you said, I don't have to watch this videos.
You make a lot of strong and valid points, thanks for sharing! :)
You're stupid and retarded. It's hard to get over this. Through the years for myself, I felt angry. That anger turned to hate. The hate gave me power. The power to let me know that I'm a winner. People can now call me names like that and it's not going to phase me. Not everyone can do this. Every insult became my greatest weapons, arming me. I wish it didn't have to be like that however its bad to call names in the first place
i know it's good to raise awareness, but i think it's easier to have people telling the actual facts to those who will listen rather than giving a false show of ts, cause it's harder to change what they already know than teach them new things.
yes, we should be able to laugh at our selves and laugh at tourette's, but i don't think that gives people the right to mock us when they don't know what it's like.
I think the purpose of tourette's is that when they go out in public and display a tic that person is saying you need to be more like me and be a little funny, a little goofy, a little zany and stop going to work complaining you hate your job, your life...Life is funny and people should be more like you too bad they're not "Stop it. Knock off the nonsense!!" No matter how much that hurts go out there and show the world what it's supposed to do have more tourette power
Out of all the disabilities Id say tourette's is the worst when people make fun of you. They are scared of the extra actions but people need to be more fun in life. When your voice pitch shoots up your body is showing us your singing voice range. I think that's cool. Stop being a businessperson become a fratboy or you know what I mean lol the world should have that attitude and it doesn't
You set such a good example for not only people with tourettes, but litterly everyone. Your perspective is gold worth both for people with tourettes and people without the condition. You should be invited on a talkshow or something!
Videos that make fun of Tourette's may spread awareness of the existence of TS, but they also spread stereotypes as well. If it wasn't for all the videos that make fun of TS depicting almost solely coprolalia, I wouldn't really have a problem with them.
Its not funny it is tragic. Simply because in the real world Touretts is crippling and excludes you from the conventional world in many ways . It is a handicap. Does South Park make fun of Downs syndrome? I don't know. Maybe it has. The truth is that Touretts is not funny to me . I can't think of anything fun about it. Making fun of people is a gesture of antagonism ; it is a kind of frustration release. The people who are really funny are the sados who pull apart people with disabilities.
