  • It says "The TGA format is not supported. Only 24-bit RGB and 32-bit RGBA are supported." Could you tell me what's wrong?

  • yeah, what the fuck. i got the same problem.

  • It will say this if you try and load it from TF2 but it wasn't in the correct directory, Put that same file it complains about in the folder in this video and it will be fine with it. Weird, I know.

  • Actually, a found a way. What you do is go to File>New, then the whole 256x256 thing, then drag the picture into your picture and when you're done editing, you go to the layers menu and click merge layers, and don't check the box saying expand if necessary. Then do what is said from 1:37 and on

  • @CommanderRaiden

    thanks

  • Hmm... Well I've used GIMP quite a bit in the past, (Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War and it's expansions, to be precise) and I was never able to take the areas around the image and just keep the interior part without having rough, pixelated edges and other like problems. Also, when the background color was present inside what I wanted to keep. Any recommended fixes for that? .tga is used in both so I don't think this will be too different...

  • what number did you say when you made something i think i heard 256 by 256? said it a lil to fast

  • yep

  • @GameFreak22100 yes 256x256

  • Very nice. This is really clear after watching your photoshop video first already. Thanks for sharing mate.

  • Whats the best size for Sprays like Avatars 256x256 whats this one?

  • yes 256x256 is the most steam games support right now

  • this does work for l4d 2 right?

  • Thanks dude it really helped subscribed and 5 stars

  • wow this video really helped me

    thanks! 5/5 stars :D

  • Why do you breathe like that? Are you on adderal?

  • lol no. i do sound weird though.

The mic is really close to my mouth, headset. I had a killer hangover!!!

  • @spaten2000 I found your voice very soothing

  • @spaten2000

Awesome. Get a hangover and make a video. That's what the world is today.

  • it worked!! youre awesome.

  • what happens if you make it bigger then

    256x256?

  • It doesnt fit on Left 4 Dead.

  • Thank youuu!! :D

  • Hey, when i tag it, it is a white backround, how do i remove it?

  • transparent background

  • Where's your other video?

  • what if u use a picture?

  • Thanks! =3

  • so bassicly, you draw something on a new layer, remove the background and save it as .tga ..?

  • Can you put new sprays up on the Xbox 360 version?

  • You cant do sprays on Xbox or even spray anything on the wall

  • Thats why PC rocks hahahah

  • im gonna do this later but thanks!

  • ok I now I have a new problem how do you import the pic?

  • when I import a pic into Gimp and make it 256x256 it doesn't make my pics smaller it just zoom in's, any suggestions?

  • yeah, you have to resize the pics which you want to use, to 256x256 BEFORE importing them into the scene where you will make your spray. So before you do what I'm explaining here, you'd have already resized your custom image to that size.

  • you can resize right in gimp!

  • Thanks mate 5/5

  • ok..i got a problem..when i save the image as .tga file..you said it would automaticlly create a VTF file..but mine doesnt..odd? i've tried in Photoshop and Gimp.

  • i perfer gimp for me those great job but photoshop is for the hardest wallpapers i make

  • Again i made a Vid on how to steal other peoples sprays

  • INHALE !!!! Thank you

  • nice tutorial, unfortunatly i do not own L4D, so...I was wondering if you could show how to import sprays on zombie master. Message me if you do not own it and i will send you the free link. =D

  • Hmm, good video but im still having troubles. I get the image to the right sizes and stuff and i get into left 4 dead and try to import the image but as soon as i click "import" the game just crashes. What do you guys think is the problem?

  • yeah same for me only im not importing to left for dead im importing to zombie master but yeah it just crashes... I'm thinking it might have something to do with vista

  • Thanks alot man your a genius.

  • Excellent tutorial, now please make one on how to reskin a character. Not change their color, total skin job. Thanks

  • Plenty of tutorials out there. Plus, i'm not really interested in that.

  • i cant find steam :(

  • Your steam directoryhmmmmmm

  • hey thanks for your help :)

  • okay basically when i try it says supported TGA formats are 24 bit RGB and 32 bit RGBA. what do i do?

  • found the steam directory lol

  • As soon as I saw your post I thought... I'll give him 15 minutes... :))

  • lol

  • i don't understand. please, explain for the rest of us.

  • how do i find the steam direnctory on vista?

  • hey thanks

  • ca u upload pictures into it and use them as sprays??

  • yes you can just resize them to 256x256 and save as .tga :)

  • k so how do u resize, im sry im a noob

  • open it in gimp then click image and scale it to 256x256 then save it as a .tga file

  • i've tried to re size them to 256x256 but it doesnt seem to work, for instance it will turn out being 256x358, is there any way to fix this problem?

  • wow... gimps changed... i need to go get the new one!

  • Thanks for the tutorial, helped a lot.

  • Tutorial worked wonderfully. I always wanted a spray saying "I hate everything - Francis" and now I can have it thanks to this tutorial. Thanks.

  • Thank you so much! This works great! Fav/5 star!

  • thanks dude, it helped me out so much!!!

  • hm... any idea how to make images transparent. cause i tried following the paintshop tutorial of making l4D spray it does work until certain point. then when i want to save in Targa format, the transparency is not registered.

  • no working dude

whenever i import, it doesnt show on L4D the list

  • thanks man ^^

  • niceee 5 star ! and fav it xD

  • thank you!

  • np..

  • does it work for paint??

  • why would you use paint if GIMP is free? I have a link to it in the description. Besides I don't think PAINT can save transparency information or TGA files.

  • yeah yeah. I've been working on it, and I got it to work. Your video helped 2! I got to know whre to paste the stupid file. :P

  • hey do u know how to make animated sprays? thanks in advance.

  • Hey I have before, but it's been a while. There's lot of tutorials out there that explain it.

  • When I look under my steam folder, it just has one foler called games and a left for dead logo in it, is their anywhere else the folders could be? XD

  • if you installed steam into another directory, or left4Dead into another directory, you'll have to navigate into that.

  • Ah okay, I see, thank you for replying and thanks for the video, its helped me make lots of sprays hehe :D

  • Does it matter is it JPEG or what it should be?

  • you have to save the file as a TGA. You can open up a jpeg in Gimp, edit it, make an alpha channel for it, THEN save it out as TGA.

  • once i saved it into the logos folder it still shows the old one. wtf do i do?

  • what a great name - gimp

  • thnxiii ^^

  • how come mine dont work? When I spray in game it doesn't even show anything at all.

  • man i would so give u a big hug right now if i could. this worked great! i been spending hours trying to get this to work by following all tutorials but nothing worked until i found this. thank you!

  • cool!

  • I tried this but when i try to load it into the game is pulls up something bout it needing to be in 24-32 bit. the image I'm using though is 32 bit though. Do you know what I'm doing wrong?

  • thx it works good.but is dere a way i can upload a pic for gimp and make it show?

  • are you still trying to do this?

  • Im tryin too do the same, and make an existing

picture transparent, havent figured out how to

do this cause I get errors in left 4 dead sayin

that the file size isnt 32 o r24 bit

  • Hmm, you sure you're saving these out as 32bit tga files?

  • Na i friggin had that lil compression check box

I was prolly havin the same prollem you were.

    thx :3

  • Great vid, and thankyou for the help; however, when I spray the image, it is just a large black square? Somthing I miss?
