  • it was nice....but very cheesy

  • this is by far the best version of this ive ever seen. great job

  • way to fast for the choir version

  • Truly AMAZING!!!

Shame we don't have stuff like this in the UK :(

  • We did this song as well!

Same Year :D You guys always beat us, so I guess you did it better!

Wish there was some Ultimate Image on youtube somewhere

  • @firenzable I remember it, it was part of a medley thing I believe. Kelly B. is my cousin and so is Nick D. as of last summer. You should find some and put it up.

  • Really great!! Amazing guys!

  • Wonderful.

  • Their feet are always that loud when they are performing, and we have actually gotten better, I'm not in the Show Choir, but I am in a choir at the school, and I listened to them perform, and they're really good, so yeah

  • Ok people. I was in show choir too. I agree that it wasn't of the caliber of Idina Menzel (not knocking you with this SteFUNN), but seriously, they're high school students. Maybe their moves weren't all that challenging, but they sang wonderfully. And the soloist has an incredible voice. She just isn't trained to the same extent as Idina Menzel. You can't hold that against her.

  • this is great!!!!

    :)

  • WOW can they say FEET!!! Jeez-o-Pete I don't know what was louder, their feet or their voices?

  • are the dresses red or pink??

  • pink

  • yeah a have to agree with roberthazlette2009, theres no passion in the last note, its as if shes just reading notes from a sheet, wheres the UMPH!! however a cracker of a performance they gave!!! :-)

  • HER LAST NOTE SUCKED! IT'S BELTED. Not Melodic!!!

  • Im pretty sure the last note is supposed to be belted... dur

  • I was saying she didn't belt it! Simply because... SHE DIDNT

  • Fantastic! keep it up, you guys are amazing!!

  • We sang this in Petal Chorians and had the same lyrics....there were two possible versions. That's why the lyrics seem "altered" to you.

  • GREAT JOB SOLOIST AND CHOIR!!!

  • The soloist's voice was awful. Hurt my ears.

  • how could you say that solo was awful?

    it was amazing!!!

and you try singing a solo after doing that choreography... i bet you'd sound like a dying goat (even tho she didnt) ... actually, you would probably sound like a dying goat without doing the choreography.

SHUT UP AND STOP MAKING FUN OF PEOPLE JUST BECAUSE THEY ARE AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I'm in show choir and our moves are more challenging than the ones I just saw, so if she was tired after that something is wrong.I think the soloist did kind of lack the intensity and passion of performers like Idina Menzel and Shoshana Bean who made this song the powerhouse that it is.I know this is high a school group and they have their flaws.SoSHUT UP AND STOP MAKING FUN OF PEOPLE JUST BECAUSE THEY ARE SHARING THEIR OPINION

  • I Love you Julie!!!

  • Best choir version on Youtube!! Loved it!!

  • The soloist did NOT need to go that high, the moves didn't match the song, and they didn't need to change the song like that.

    Overall it was ok, though.

  • Why were the lyrics changed? Anybody know

  • To allow the song to make more sense out of the context of the actual musical Wicked.

  • Anyone know who the choreographer was for this?

  • Katie Dicicco was the choreographer back then, and is still the choreographer for ATSC.

  • It hurts my heart to have people say bad things about atsc... lol.

  • Hmmmmm...good singing, though there has been better choreography.

  • This is my high school. Well. Now. Our ATSC is a lot better now.

  • does anyone know where this competition is at?

  • Onalasksa, Wisconsin, very near LaCrosse

  • Ok, the singing was good, but the moves DON'T match up with the words or tone of the song.

  • definently not a choral song LOL. cheesy.

  • Okay. I know the last part is suppose to be loud, but not screaming. Singing forte (fff) and shouting are two totally different things. no worries though. a lot of groups have this problem. Especially w/ big groups and strong singers.

  • i saw them perform last year @ Bishop Heelan contest. They have a very stron show choir program and always make finals so props on that.

As you have heard, the soloist at the end is basically, well, horrible. She goes too high and is out of tune. Its depressing.

Though from all of my show choir competition experiences, most soloists dont do very good. They are amazing in practices, but they choke during performances. Its also depressing.

  • i liked it...

  • that soloist...shouldn't go that high. those last few noes hurt. I thought the only other thing about it was that 'So if you care to find me...Western Sky' should have been kept a male soloist like it is written(Obviously not in the musical but in the score)

  • the choreography is awsome. soloist ...okay I guess word changes NO!!! Its not too big of a word change but it impacts Wicked fans (including myself). Just keep it the way it is!

  • omg i remember this this was my first competition

  • Get over the fact that its not very "Wicked" they adapted the song to be "ATSC"

  • Fuck Wicked. We're required to confront this like you're supposed to confront elaborate science problems. If a person had just walked in from the wild and didn't know shit about anything, would they still be able to find a message in the song? Keeping ties to words which distort the message would've been dumb. Also, Jake Meyer, keep away from the fucking mics.

  • The soloist...no...the word changes...no...Overall performance...okay. But I dislike this song done in a Show Choir, unless you can feature 2 soloists and KEEP THE WORDS RIGHT!!

  • agreed, but this is probably one of the better performances of DG, except for the soloist, pretty voice but not enough force.

  • I agree. I heard that songs from at least six different groups at one competition. I don't like the song either.

  • overall, this is good. but they shouldn't have changed the words...and the soloist isn't very...elphaba like...lol...

  • But probably what angers me the most is that people doing this in a show choir/choir. Mostly because I grew up with "Play the way it's written, perform the way it's written." and Defying Gravity was written as more of a solo piece, basically...I don't think its great when performed by a choir.

  • agreed. And its understandable...sometimes...to change the lyrics, so most people can get it. But when you change the lyrics, you change the impact you have with the song. Just fill the audience in, tell them that this is song is from Wicked, tell a summary, just do something!!

  • I'll have to agree with columbia... The word changes are not necessary, although they are so bad as to the extent that vulgar language is needed. Great Vocals as usual, although choreography is lacking. I'm really glad ATSC has decided to pump up the choreo this year!

  • i remember seeing this show at waconia star power that year.

to columbia5052005: those lyrics don't work in a choir/show choir setting, they're not telling the same story as they are in the musical. how come you didn't complain about the changed rhythms.

    great job gang

  • hey there sport. you may want to settle it down!

  • why cant choirs just say 'an nobody in all of oz, no wizard that there is or was'...FYI Choral Directors: STOP CHANGING THE FUCKING WORDS
